Good morning, sunny and still , long maybit last !
I have a line of washing out ,
Daughter arrived home to a fused freezer , so loads of towels from the mopping up , anything still frozen is in my freezer !
Her washing machine then tripped the trip ! So I offered my machine
I took a load of leaves off my tomato plants in an effort to get ripe tomatoes , not a great crop this yesr
I have a plum tree in a pot , it hasn’t flowered , so never had plums from it !
I am hopeless at remembering names , but I do think of our poorly people and light the candle for everyone

Good morning Mick and all from a bright northwest coast.
DD arrived from the south after midnight so it became a very late night, the main thing being that she arrived safely, it’s a long drive which she does regularly. She’s v helpful and apart from putting her car in with its MOT and walking the longish distance home, even though I would have picked her up, she’s spent time chasing up a hospital appointment for me dating back to last September…I’m planning to go private.
I’m in charge at the music club this afternoon and singing so will make myself look human (That’ll take some time my late DH used to say😁)
Toi Toi Ash and thoughts to all with troubles.

Good morning from a sunny NE 🌞 but it is very windy.
I slept right through from 11.30 to 8.30, not even up to the loo during the night. I was up at 4.30 yesterday and had all the laundry done by noon.
Family sent me lots of photos of their holiday in London, GDs went shopping in Harrods, Hamleys and Liberty and were clearly loving it.
Tried ringing the bank yesterday, all the working day, at half hourly intervals and not once did they answer. An ISA they said would take 15 days to set up has still not been processed after 11 weeks.
Quiet day today, perhaps try and think about a gift for GD's upcoming 18th birthday.
Love Dad's army Ashcombe, I am sure it will be a great success.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Good morning everyone from a calm and bright North Atlantic. Forecast good again for today.
It's another sea day, so not rushing around, and just take it as it comes.
Had a late breakfast yesterday, did not bother with lunch, but mid-afternoon felt peckish, so was tempted by aftermoon tea; just had a delicious freshly baked scone.
Then time to get ready for formal night and cocktail party. Champagne followed by a delicious dinner.
Afterwards went to an evening of Sinatra songs by a young showcast performer; it was his first solo performance on board and I thought he was excellent.
Today's plans?
Late breakfast, read for a while, walk around the deck; there are a couple of talks that look interesting. Tonight after dinner is the crew show, which will be excellent, remembering last year's.
Wishing all a pleasant Tuesday.

Morning all,

My dear Aussie sidekick is currently winging her way back home, we still have one of our Aussie contingent here in a U.K. which is a great consolation.

DD rang me first thing yesterday to say that the 8yr old had woken up covered in chicken pox spots, we have been socialising with all AC, GC and Aussies for the last week. It’s now a waiting game to see how far he has shared. DD will be watching The Imp for any signs.

I have them here today as DD is working, all my plans have for park, soft play etc., have been cancelled so it’s going to be board games and films.

Will try and catch up with your news during the day

Have a good one folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Ashcombe Tue 08-Aug-23 08:59:04

Gingster: Ash nice to have a ‘full house’ with plenty of laughter. Do you have a part or are you Front of House?

I’m actually acting in this one, first as a German sailor, then as a member of Mum's Army. I’m on stage a lot but with few lines! I even take part in a competition to be Lady Godiva! Great fun! (Hope that image won’t put folk off their breakfast!)

Marydoll Tue 08-Aug-23 08:52:21

Baubles, I'm glad you got through it. Not the nicest of procedures. I still have a dent in my chest from 46 years go!

Take it easy today! (That's a joke, coming from me! )

Good morning from Durham. Blue sky again, but very windy and a definite Autumnal feeling.
Coffee at a local garden centre with a friend this morning, then through to DD1’s to check on her house and feed DGS1’s fish while they’re away. She has a horrendous cough and cold, but trying to make the most of her family holiday in the sun.
I’m pleased to say my back improved throughout yesterday and is only a niggle now. Strangely, I’m sleeping well, but not feeling refreshed at all - I think I could sleep all day, if I didn’t get out of bed.
I can remember Durham hosting a small balloon festival, but the weather meant none could take off - a bit of a damp squib.
Good to read of ‘normality’ so far today and some good news.
Best wishes to all. X

EkwaNimitee Tue 08-Aug-23 08:42:56

Good morning Mick and everyone from a currently brilliantly sunny Carlisle. A few hours of summer today perhaps?
Yesterday's check with the Hepatology nurse went well. Apparently my blood tests show my body to be in fine fettle. Hmmm! I wish it always consciously felt like that...but I admit I'm a bit of a worry guts.
I got out in the garden post lunch and spread my compost heap contents around before planting a little variegated yew.

Today, more servicing of the body, a return to the dentist to refit a denture which has had another 'tooth' added to it to replace last week's extracted one. I hope to follow that up with a little shopping, possibly going to investigate what's going on in poor Wilko's, my first port of call for necessary bits and bobs and plant bulbs. Then an afternoon of whatever takes my fancy though it won't be housework!

Hope you have a good day everyone.

Jacs7 Tue 08-Aug-23 08:39:38

Good morning from an overcast north Kent, rain later this afternoon.

Yesterday I went to the end of term exhibition of the pictures produced by the art group I go to. The quality of the artwork was excellent and a credit to our teacher for inspiring such creativity! Several friends and acquaintances were there as well so it was good to catch up with people not seen for a while.

Today DH and I have an appointment with the travel nurse at the surgery to go through the vaccinations we need ready for our cruise early next year when we are visiting several Central American countries. The yellow fever vaccination is the only one we need advice on and we shall need boosters for several others.

Apart from that excitement, nothing else much planned. I might cut the grass - then again I might not!

Hope you all have a good day.

baubles Tue 08-Aug-23 08:35:33

Good morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

I’m also an Anne Tyler fan gMattie.

My biopsy wasn’t too uncomfortable, the nurse congratulated me for being so good by which I think she meant calm and not jumpy.

I’d begun takin my medication for osteoporosis on Sunday morning and yesterday I felt as if I’d been hit by a truck between the soreness from the biopsy site and muscular pain. I’m slightly less sore today and fortunately I’m not working so I’ll have to wait and see how I get on with this drug.
Thanks for your good wishes.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Foxygloves Tue 08-Aug-23 08:30:34

Good morning all - it’s a bit overcast in Foxyland too but I understand a return to Summer is on the cards .
My courtesy car arrived yesterday while mine is being unbent plus a new rear door blush but it is so new and shiny I am reluctant to drive it in case some other inanimate object comes along and scratches it
Hairdresser today plus maybe a trip to a local garden centre to get some more herbs now that all my old terracotta pots have been sorted and cleaned, I seem to have more than I realised and herb wise I am down to a rosemary and a slightly sorry for itself sage.
Then maybe some more Netflix and knitting? Anything to avoid the ironing!
Wishing you all a pleasant day and safe travels for all who are out and about.

GrannySomerset

Bed changing and supermarket shop and then I have an enormous bag of Victoria plums to turn into jam - the gardener did a thorough job picking them yesterday. This is the biggest crop in the tree’s fourteen year life and I wonder if it is a last hurrah, but meanwhile a very busy day awaits. Not sure I have sufficient jars, I realise, so may have to beg locally.

I have plenty jars, but no plums! I do have two pears on the tree!

Wyllow3 Tue 08-Aug-23 08:15:25

Good Morning: its a bit overcast in S Yorks with herringbone clouds, but no rain predicted.

After more tests and £££ my car is still not fixed: hoping tomorrow will be its final garage visit for the part they think is causing the problem. Gardener came, looks spiffing now: I join in a bit, and a sunny walk in the Botanical Gardens.

So today is take it easier day.

Fascinating reading everyone's days - a ballon trip coming up, or just watching? and a very clever scam which would have really rattled me.

Best for poorlies, and may outings, crafts, and cooking go well.

Mollietwoknees Tue 08-Aug-23 08:11:27

Good morning from an overcast Lancashire although there is a bit of sun poking through the clouds so I live in hope….
Restocked the bird feeders, put a wash on and may pop into M & S returning the cargo trousers I foolishly thought would look ok on me. Continuing with my exercises for plantar fasciitis - eight weeks now, really miss my long walks and general running around plus having to wear clumpy trainers is the absolute pits . I’m having shockwave therapy again on Thursday which really does seem to help the healing process so hopefully I’ll be back in nicer footwear soon.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Nannagarra Tue 08-Aug-23 08:09:08

Good morning from Sefton where a dry, sunny afternoon is forecast.
Another Anne Tyler fan here, Mattie. Sorry to hear about your knee Mizuna; I hope it soon becomes less painful.
DGdog is coming today. Will she enjoy eating the odd blackberry as much as the last golden retriever we had?
As always, thoughts to Urms, Kalu, Mr C and others.

Taichinan Tue 08-Aug-23 08:07:39

Well my goodness! Wall to wall blue sky and sunshine on the Angus coast today. The only small cloud I can see is breaking up as it scurries off out to sea. It must have been a cold night as all the north facing windows are still covered with condensation on the outside - I actually thought it was another grey day when I first woke up.
Anyway, good morning Mick and all. Glad to hear that your first night went well Ash.
I hope your knee feels less painful as the day goes on Mizuna.
Glad your consultation was reassuring yesterday Karma.
Grandmattie you seem to have made a good friend there, and the balloon meet will be wonderful to see.
Grandmabattie I used to do the Monday-Tuesday child minding too, for two DGDs. Looking back it was such a privilege to have been part of their lives like that.
Tai chi for me this morning followed by shopping - which will include a visit to the fish shop. That's becoming mandatory!
Enjoy your day today everyone, and I hope those with troubles feel relief x

Gwenisgreat Tue 08-Aug-23 08:03:24

Good morning all from bright and breezy Harrogate. Glad to hear you are back to your normal routine Mick
The Balloon festival sounds great Grandmattie. Have been up in one yet? I’ve been twice, enjoyed it.
Had DGd yesterday she would on watch tv, didn’t like it but I was shattered so suited me.
Have the best day possible folks

ginny Tue 08-Aug-23 08:03:03

Good morning. Dull again here in N.Bucks.
Today we are having a trip out with our eldest DGS. He fancied a visit to ‘The World of Crocodiles’. DD3 and SIL went last year and said it was good.
No doubt there will be a meal afterwards.
Wishing all a good day.

Marydoll Tue 08-Aug-23 08:00:14

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, however, its only 7°C.

The balloon race sounds exciting GM.

I'm pretty tired after my morning out with the Ebay Queen. She likes to go out early, so I was relieved when she phoned to ask if we could go out slightly later. I was struggling to get ready in time.

As usual, she had changed our itinerary a few times and we ended up over your way Kalu and Topsy, in the complete opposite direction of where we intended to go.
As always I am amazed at her ability to spot high quality items, hidden in amongst junk.
I wasn't really looking for anything, but my friend found me a new Kim and Co dress for £1! I had been looking at a similar one on QVC the other day.
To watch her in action is so entertaining, she is a consummate professional and knows most of the shop assistants by name.
Unfortunately, since she was a woman on a mission, we never stopped for coffee, which was going to be my treat.
I was seriously flagging by the time, we got home.
When I told DH, that we hadn't had coffee, he said the queen's DH ( his golf partner) would be so disappointed, as he had been anticipating the huge scone my friend was supposed to bring back from the village bakery.
I ended up making some and taking them across to them, as a thank you.

I had tried phoning DH a few times, because I had spotted a few brand new golf items. Despite seeing him on the camera, arriving home, he did not answer his mobile nor the landline. (Not an unusual occurence), 🤬
I was contrite, when I found out that he had been washing my car. 💕 ( He is still trying to atone for beergate!)
Last night, I found out that my SIL, usually his pal, had been advising him to apologise and make amends. DD, said that for once, she could not defend her dad! 😉

As we came out of the first shop, much to my annoyance, I realised I had lost my earring. We retraced our steps, but no sign of it.
Last night, soaking in the bath, I felt something jagging me. The earring was lying at the bottom of the bath. How on earth did it get there??????

This morning, I need to do a small grocery shop and collect more surplices. I have no idea, what's for dinner, I have no appetite, nor enthusiasm for cooking and knives are lethal weapons in my useless hands! 🩸

Hoping Baubles got on OK yesterday and prayers for all who need them.
Enjoy your day folks.

Liberty Tue 08-Aug-23 07:59:20

Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk. Hoping it remains dry as a friend is hosting an afternoon tea for 14 of us in her garden. She has a large beautiful one and a tiny cottage so it will be a bit of a squash if we have to move indoors. The forecast is ok so 🫰.

Good to read that Mick’s plans for the day sound as they used to do. Thinking of those who are unwell and unable to plan days as they would wish.

Grammaretto Tue 08-Aug-23 07:58:23

Good morning all from the sunny Scottish Borders. What a difference a day of sunshine makes!
The lawn cut, another room tidied and cleaned and a trip to the tip which I found most cathartic.

I have asked my DC if anyone in their families wants a knitted sweater as I need a new project. Only DD has responded with a yes please.

I'm glad your first night went well Ash
Well done on your excellent childcare
Grandmabatty you deserve a holiday medal
.that police call was terrible roseandlilac
I am dealing with the police about nearly being run down last week so I may have gone along with it!
I had a call from someone who is contacting all householders in the country when I told him that was impossible, he put the phone down

Have a pleasant day everyone.
