Good morning from a grey, still Durham. SinL (and DGS1) came yesterday to clear the gutters over the porch and around the conservatory. There was much mirth from me and bad language from him, when a blockage finally exploded, soaking him from head to foot!
Unfortunately, he found that a lot of the wood trim on the house is rotten. It’s going to be a big job, expensive too for Spring next year.
I’ve a totally free day, so should make the best of it, as I’ll get Little Dog tonight for the rest of this week and DGS1 is staying here part of next.
Love the salt dough boat!
Best wishes to all. X

Lovely to see you Grandmadinosaur👋🏻

Grandmachrisy47 Wed 16-Aug-23 08:14:54

It’s dull and cool here in Co Durham and the ground is damp. Hope it gets better, I’ve lots of washing to do.
We had a lovely few days visit from dear sister and BiL, including a lovely meal in a local pub/ restaurant with dd2, sil and dgd. Poor dd1 was working so couldn’t join us.
I’ve read your posts every day but not managed to post.
Nice to see Urms posting. Happy Birthday, granmaretto.
Hope all who are poorly feel better soon, those on holiday have a good time.
Need to sort car tax and insurance today, plus other admin. Boring but necessary.

Mizuna Wed 16-Aug-23 08:10:50

Happy Birthday Grammaretto, hope your cold doesn't develop.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 16-Aug-23 08:08:27

Good morning everyone, the sun is shining and the blue sky is clear of clouds, not sure if it will last though.
I have a patch of garden to clear today, a 25yr old rosemary bush has spread about 6 feet across and is hiding the roots of a huge bramble, behind it, somewhere, is a sundial which I will uncover and pull out, if we move I don’t want it to be forgotten and hidden away. We have another old bramble bush there as well but it is loaded with huge blackberries so I will try and separate it from the one I want to pull up. We have several Rosemary bushes, all very big, but it still is a shame to remove one that is thriving. Dog sitting day today so a nice dog walk will be happening later.
Happy birthday Gramaretto 💐🎉🎂🎁
Hope everyone has the best day they can, virtual hugs for those who are unwell or looking after sick loved ones.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 16-Aug-23 08:00:00

Forgot to say that sounds nasty Susan wishing you a speedy recovery.

Good morning from a sunny East Yorkshire.

Today we are making the most of a nice day and taking our grandchildren to the coast. Don’t know who’s more excited! On our way home we will stop off at the park where we now have a holiday lodge to spend a couple of hours there. They love it there as do we. It’s certainly changed our lives. Wish we had done it sooner.

Happy Birthday Grammaretto rotten luck getting I’ll but hope it’s nothing more than a cold 💐

Thinking of ones for whom life isn’t easy at the moment.

Summer's back!🌝 A gloriously sunny morning here in Sefton with blues skies & nary a cloud in the sky.
Zoom exercise class then Pilates this morning. Garden pottering & sitting this afternoon to welcome back summer ... if only for a few days.
Take care all.

brook2704 Wed 16-Aug-23 07:55:03

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud and it’s quite warmish
A very Happy Birthday Grammaretto such a shame you’re feeling poorly but hope you’re fighting fit by Saturday 💐🎉🎂
Yesterday I got my hair done, it looked lovely when I came out of the hairdressers but when I had a shower in the evening it all got a bit wet and is now going in all the wrong directions.Today I’ve got a DanceFit class at the gym, followed by Aqua aerobics - that should sort me out! Then home to clean my walking boots and get packing as we’re off on Friday for a bit of an adventure to the Isles of Lewis and Harris.
That’s definitely a work of art mizuna talented baker and artist
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Wed 16-Aug-23 07:53:46

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and cloudy. Mizuna that shop is a work of art indeed. I used to play about with salt dough but I was never that good. Grammaretto happy birthday to you. I do hope you feel better soon. Susan that sounds rather nasty for you. Hopefully the antibiotics will do the job.
Yesterday was busy with the boys. It turns out that dgs2 will probably need a wee operation, poor wee man. He's waiting for a paediatric appointment. We went to a local park in Polmont which is abundant with trees and wildlife. Dgs1 was keen to add to his nature collection which is mouldering in the boot of my car. It also has a playpark which was empty so both boys made full use of that. Last night there was torrential rain. Probably what you encountered baubles.
Today is my nothing day. I will potter about and tidy away all the toys in the garden and do a bit of weeding. I have paella I made last night from the veg on the fridge and a wedge of chorizo and some chicken. Have a good day all

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast. A broken night with lots of dreams. Sad when my late DH is such a part of them. At one point, I was having a private conversation with Prince Andrew (he told me to keep it quiet 😁) who told me he was going to become Prince Regent. I think not Andy…

I was so overtired after singing and shopping yesterday, I was fit for nothing and had an early night. Will have a quiet day today and I have a nice little crop of plums to pick.
Fab pic LLFL, birthday greetings and get well soon Grammaretto. Thoughts also to all with worries.

Good morning from a bright and sunny day on the Essex coast.
We have to go into town to the bank first thing then back to watch the football.
DD2 rang yesterday evening to tell me all about their holiday. DD1 arrived on the Isle of Wight, mainly to see her MIL who is very unwell. The girls will enjoy the beaches.
Happy Birthday to Grammaretto, enjoy the day.
I hope you all find something to enjoy today xx

Jaxjacky Wed 16-Aug-23 07:44:24

Happy Birthday Grammaretto 🎂🎉🥂.
Yes, you can get covid tests, I did one ten days ago when I started a cough/cold, it was -ve, as I hope you are.

Grannyme6 Wed 16-Aug-23 07:43:08

Morning all from a bright south east.
Pilates this morning and this afternoon a visit with a friend to RHS Hyde Hall. I’m sure we’ll stop for a cup of tea and cake whilst there.
Happy birthday to Grammaretto, hope you feel better soon.

Mizuna Wed 16-Aug-23 07:32:38

Good morning from Cornwall where it's sunny without a breath of wind. Lovely for the tourists. The town is swimming with smartly uniformed young sailors from the tall ships speaking various languages. An atmosphere of joy abounds. I'll be watching the women's football this morning and going somewhere to breathe the sea air later. The photo is the salt dough ship I mentioned, in our local pasty shop. Apparently the baker is 'a real artist' according to the ladies behind the counter. I'd agree! The ship is full of crabs, fish and an octopus eating a pasty.b

Susan56 Wed 16-Aug-23 07:31:25

Happy birthday Grammaretto🥳🍾🥂🎂Hope you feel better very soon.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 16-Aug-23 07:29:51

My Australian family are very excited and believe they will win!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 16-Aug-23 07:28:46

Morning all from a bright warm S E Essex.

It’s all go here this morning, my cleaning fairies are here and I also have the man in to clean the range (well overdue) I am off to the gym.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Grammaretto Wed 16-Aug-23 07:25:15

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Not raining yet.
The roofman is coming at 8 to look at some damp patches on some ceilings.

It's my birthday i'm 3/4 century but have a streaming cold i hope it's not covid and will have to cancel all the lovely things I have planned and go back to bed.
Can you still get COVID tests? I've invited people here on Saturday and I would hate to cancel. Several are staying here.

Will the match be exciting LLFL? or is noone bothered about the outcome. My English DGC will be rooting for England but not sure about the NZ ones. They've been going to the matches in Wellington.
Have a good day everyone if you can.

Pittcity Wed 16-Aug-23 07:20:16

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another warm, dry day here, so I'll put some washing out.
I think I'll go to the weekly Wednesday coffee meetup rather than staying in to watch the football semi final as I don't think my nerves can stand it.
I'm hoping DH will meet me for lunch out as there's a 25th year celebration at the charity shop I volunteer in this afternoon.
Come on Ingerland and love to all 🦩 x

RosesandLilac Wed 16-Aug-23 07:18:05

Good morning from sunny south Gloucestershire, clear blue skies here.
I slept very badly, I’ve been awake since 1am for no reason 😵‍💫, today’s going to be a struggle!
A dog walk first thing, I think we’ll drive to the village and do a loop around the fields and bridleway. Then a quiet day.
Take care everyone 🌹

Greyduster Wed 16-Aug-23 07:14:51

Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun is trying hard to push the clouds aside in the South Yorkshire sky. GS was here all day yesterday and is still here though I shouldn’t think he’ll surface for a while. He is lovely company. We had fun yesterday making “proper” Cornish pasties which came out very well though we haven’t eaten any of them yet! Then he spent a long time practicing his golf swing in the garden with some of DH’s old clubs. I had forgotten how much teenagers eat, or how much milk they drink!! Today he’s going to cut the cotoneaster hedge for me and mow the front lawn. His reward will be lunch in the pub at the bottom of the valley. When he goes home I will probably take to my bed for about three days!
Have the best day you can folks.

ginny Wed 16-Aug-23 07:08:25

Good morning. It is looking like we have another lovely sunny day.
We are off to Carisbroke castle where the boys will enjoy the jousting and other medieval themed entertainment.
Sadly we catch the ferry early evening. We have had to cut a day off the holiday as DD3 has the funeral of a dear Aunt in law to attend tomorrow.

Wishing all a good day.

monk08 Wed 16-Aug-23 07:05:09

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Yesterday was lovely so went to look at fishing venues a nice walk along by the water, the one was suitable for contest booking with plenty of parking available the other not so good for access. We called in at the garden centre on the way back for coffee and a browse and then on passing a pub not to far from home saw they had refurbished so gave it a try for our evening meal most delightful.
We have the plumber coming this morning to mend our upstairs toilet cistern takes nearly 1hr to refill. I shall do some ironing while he's here.
Have the best day you can everyone and thoughts with missing posters, may you all find some ☀️.
