Good morning from Foxyland where it is distinctly cooler. Yay!
As long as it is fine for tomorrow’s bbq with D3, SIL, his parents and the two little boys I am more than happy to see the garden watered with no effort from me.
When I got back from taking the Foxyhound to have her derrière checked by the vet yesterday I found I could not open my drivers door. Checked I hadn’t accidentally locked it and sat bemused for a moment or two. Then wound down the window and tried the handle on the outside - Phew! With one bound I was free!
As it had just come back from being unbent and I had a mobile no for the friendly mechanic, Tristram, I rang him just to ask whether they had had to do anything to that door in the course of the repairs and he admitted they had had to take the handle off in the course of the respray. So, to bring it over and they would look at it there and then. Nice man. They fixed it while I waited, no questions asked and my faith in garages was restored. Foxyhound did not like her derrière being fiddled with BTW and actually squeaked. If it had been dear late Gracie, I fear she’d have had the vet’s hand off grin
Out for coffee with a friend this morning and maybe a few bits (inevitably) from Waitrose while we are there.
Loved your picMizuma it made me think of “The Flying Dutchman” !
With warmest wishes especially to those of you with worries or in pain, I hope today is gentle with you.

Good morning all from an overcast Essex. Not the high temperatures that were forecast a few days ago. I,for one, am pleased 🥵.

Yesterday I caught the bus to the hospital, had my glaucoma tests done and caught the bus home. Brilliant - I’ll do that again. No driving, parking, no cabs and didn’t cost me a penny.
I’ve had three of these tests now (all inconclusive) but every time , the equipment and procedures have changed and improved. It was a ‘virtual clinic’, so didn’t see the practitioner for a feed back. They will write and tell me the results. I must say that all the staff were delightful.

DS1 has his stitches removed today and the results of his rodent ulcer removal. How is your dh Sar?

Little pooch to the groomers at 10 and then drinks with our Friday friends. The elderly landlady (90 in November) doesn’t do food anymore so we just have a catch-up and a gin or two.
We’ve been going to the same pub for over 40 years but I feel it will soon be closing. She only opens up for us on a Friday lunchtime. Nothing is status quo! 😢.

Fabulous photo Mizuna. So atmospheric. Maybe you could paint that.🤔.
LLF what a journey you’ve had. Exciting but exhausting. Have a chilled one.
Hope today is a better one for grans feeling under the weather.
🌻

Good morning from a dull Black Country where it is just starting to rain. Thunderstorms forecast!

Lovely walk yesterday with a cafe stop, very sunny and warm. In all I covered almost 8 miles as I walked to the park to the meeting point. Legs were very achy in the afternoon though.

u3a walk this morning cancelled due to the forecast storms. So I suppose I may as well make a start on housework!

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning from a grey W Kent. DH off for a blood test first thing and then visit to GS3 to hand over his birthday card etc as he is off abroad for a year at University.
Love the cushions gM and the beautiful ship Mizuna
Best wishes to all

Grandmabatty

Marydoll thank you. I've ordered from Amazon so should arrive tomorrow

Its a tiny bottle. I sit it on the windowsill. It's usually DHs forgotten bananas, which are the culprit here.

Morning everyone from a cloudy north Kent. Rain given for this evening so might cut the grass later this morning. DD and family are off camping this weekend; rather them than me as I need all mod cons to survive!

Visit to the hairdresser later this morning. I bear a passing resemblance to the wild woman of Borneo (I wonder who she was?) and my hair is badly in need of some attention. We have a family wedding next weekend, so need to look reasonably respectable. Apart from that excitement nothing else much planned.

Hope you all have a good day.

Pittcity Fri 18-Aug-23 07:35:16

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. The weather was just right yesterday if a little breezy. Couldn't expect it to last over the weekend.
Shopping and ironing today.
Love to all 🦩 x

kittylester Fri 18-Aug-23 07:32:09

Good morning all from an overcast North Leicestershire.

Skip being delivered this morning ready fir the kitchen rip out starting Monday. Then I will deliver the girls to their Mum.

This evening, DH and DS1 are going to the first game of the season so I have an empty!!

Love that photo Mizuna. My brother has a cottage near Falmouth and had hoped to be part of the Tall Ships flotilla. Sadly, not to be this time.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a very gloomy Sefton. The sky looks very 'heavy'. Rain is forecast & will possibly be here sooner than expected. We are planning a quick foray to a nearby seaside town. I hope we can get through our short list of bits & bobs before the rain arrives. We will have to fit in a food shop as well as a visit to a bank - if we can find one that is still open & functioning as a bank.🤞A small successful wardrobe clear out yesterday so a visit to the charity shop is needed. Hmm. Beginning to look like a very busy morning! That wasn't the plan.
No zoom class today, our instructor is having a well earned holiday, so I can enjoy a lazy start to the day.
Positive thoughts & ((hugs)) to those of you dealing with life's struggles & worries.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull and breezy northwest coast.
Enjoyed our music practice here yesterday. One of the guitarists is on a course of chemo by tablet, but is doing remarkably well.
I’m off for a blood test soon and have been up in the night, loo visits and cat botheration…
Another music practice at 12, might come back for another doze.
Lovely pics and thoughts to anyone with troubles 🌹

Bigred18 Fri 18-Aug-23 07:25:51

Llfl - enjoy Manly! I live not very far away. It's so windy today isn't it, the surf at Manly will be fabulous - enjoy.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 18-Aug-23 07:22:17

Morning all, it’s overcast here in S E Essex with a 60% chance of rain.

We have The Imp today whilst DD is at work, hopefully a quiet day after yesterday when he was here with his young cousin, they play so nicely. Best excuse of the day on finding they had built a den in my bedroom their excuse was we didn’t want to make the playroom untidy 🤣

Lovely photos, seems like your production is a hit Ashcombe

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

karmalady Fri 18-Aug-23 07:17:40

Good morning, dull, wet and windy in s somerset today

I watched the whole of sense and sensibility last night, it was a good wind down for me and with long adverts, which is when I shined up my kitchen like I do every evening.

Upstairs at 9 for some peaceful slow sewing which also winds me down for the night. I opened a box to find good quality needlecord already cut for a pattern. I have started piecing that together

I need to get out today so to my favourite supermarket I will go, a 30 mile round trip but it is pleasant and I take a list. If truth be told I go for the drive. Alexa is holding onto my list, hope it is not too long.

I do like the photos and the simple chat on here every day. Have a good day

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 18-Aug-23 07:08:51

Afternoon all. I am back at my sister’s place. I left my brother’s house in Port McQuarrie in a taxi to the airport. Got on a tiny plane which barely held 30 passengers. The weather was rather windy so it was a bit scary being buffeted everywhere. In fact they cancelled all the flights after mine. I then caught a train to Circular Quay and finally the ferry to Manly. Not quite finally as my sister picked me up. I’m exhausted now. She is making chicken curry for dinner. It will make a change after quite a lot of vegan food. Have a good day.

Marydoll Fri 18-Aug-23 07:05:58

Sorry for the lack of proof reading. DH was trying to make the bed, while I was still in it! He is trying to get to the course before the four old fogies in buggies, who annoy him every week! 😂

Marydoll Fri 18-Aug-23 06:59:59

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 13°C.
Yet another awful night, I'm becoming reluctant to going to bed!

You are so talented, GM, the cushions look great.
We no longer allow products containing nuts at our parish events, for health and safety reasons. We cannot guarantee that they will not contaminate other products.
My son carries an Epipen, because suffers from a peanut allergy, which nearly killed him, so I can understand the reasoning.

DH is golfing, but no chance to enjoy my empty, the cupboards are bare, because I haven't been near the shops this week.
On my return, I must attempt more parish admin. I'm still building the mailshot for the parish bulletin. We photocopy 600 a week and are planning to go digital. It is costing a fortune to print.
I am in discussions with the PP, who is giving little consideration to parishioners, who are not IT literate. He thinks because I upload it weekly on the website that is sufficient! 😡

I procrastinated yesterday and did a charity shop cull, instead of doing admin.
Much to my shame, I discovered forgotten, unworn, sale items from last year in the drawer under the spare room bed. I am so bloated now, due to my heart problems, that much of the clothes was too tight.
Poor DH was in his office, and was constantly disturbed by my fashion parade. Most of the outfits got a resounding no!
You wanted me to be honest, he said! 😪
Honest yes, blunt no! 😉

Baubles, childminding, while under the weather is difficult. I hope your DH feels better as the day goes on.

GM, I use this for fruit flies. It works a treat!

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.
My very best wishes to all, who are struggling.

RosesandLilac Fri 18-Aug-23 06:57:42

Good morning from a wet Cotswolds village, leaden skies here.
Not a lot happening here, which suits me fine, I will try out some new watercolours this morning. I also have an online sketching course to start, looking forward to seeing how it goes!
Have a peaceful day 🌹

Whitewavemark2 Fri 18-Aug-23 06:57:07

Good morning from a wet (I think) South Downs.

gm my goodness you whizz stuff up so quickly. It would take me a few days thinking, then fiddling around getting the material, then a month at least to sew!!

mizuma I can smell that picture! The mist and sea.

Well, day of rain, so indoor jobs. I have decided that to accompany every birthday/Christmas present I give to the family it will be a book. Sons 50th coming up so have just ordered Ben Ockri’s “Tiger Work” - he will appreciate that.

I’ve been bitten on my leg with two extremely itchy spots. Haven’t a clue what did it, but one spot is very red. Time of year I suppose. Horse flies usually hurt so I doubt it was that, but I guess walking through grass did it.

Might eat out today, see how we go, and if we can be bothered.

Peace to everyone

Grammaretto Fri 18-Aug-23 06:53:56

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's been warm and sunny for 3 days but looks like rain on the way. I had plans for a garden party tomorrow but may need to rethink.
DS &DBiL arrived yesterday so we talked, ate and drank until late. Other family members arrive today.
I'm still coughing and sneezing but better than I was.

I had my pre assessment for my cataract operation yesterday in a private clinic (NHS) I was told I shouldn't be driving. No date yet for the op but weeks rather than months, I'm assured.

Such pretty cushions gMattie .
The tall ships must have been quite a sight Mizuna.
I'm glad the theatricals are going so well Ash
Mick you seem to be better each day!
Well wishes to all struggling at the moment.

Susan56 Fri 18-Aug-23 06:51:19

Greyduster Fri 18-Aug-23 06:46:52

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very grey South Yorkshire. We will have rain today. Finished sorting out the last of the unwanteds in the garage yesterday. I kept some decorating kit; though it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever use it, never say never! Today I have some paperwork to sort out and some general cleaning to do, but I was so tired yesterday that today will be a rest day.
Mizuna that photo is lovely.
Have the best day you can folks.

Grandmabatty Fri 18-Aug-23 06:34:31

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and cloudy. Mick air fryer fish and chips sounds good. GrandMattie the cushions are lovely. Mizuna I hope your day with your granddaughter is filled with fun.
Yesterday I had a nice catch up with friends. Then later I visited mum who wasn't great.
Today I have dgs2 for an hour or so to let dd go to an eye test. I have nothing else planned. I'll do some cleaning as I have a lot of fruit flies in the kitchen and can't work out where they are coming from. I'm catching them in ramekins with cider vinegar but they make me grue. Have a good day all

Ashcombe Fri 18-Aug-23 06:28:42

Good morning from a dull but dry Torbay.

What a joy to open this page today and be greeted by two contrasting but impressive photos! Well done, grandMattie and Mizuna's DS. The ship looks quite ethereal!

Another well received performance last night followed by a very busy bar. One regular volunteer bar steward told me she’d received tips a few times this week whilst serving drinks. She had kindly put the money in the till. Our patrons are very warm in their reaction to this play.

A catch up day at home is necessary today ahead of an old friend from Staffs visiting, partly to see the play on Saturday. She has booked into a nearby hotel. My DS is staying at his Dad’s and is coming to watch tonight.

Have a happy weekend if you can. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
