Well I’m back from the Antipodes! After an exceedingly long flight - 7 hours from Sydney to Singapore, 2 hour break in Singapore followed by an interminable 12 hours on to London Heathrow. Elder son and my granddaughter picked me up at Terminal 5 and drove me home. Son cooked us all breakfast before driving back to Kew where granddaughter has a swimming lesson. It is lovely to be home. There is no place like it! I am pretty shattered. It was difficult to sleep on the plane as there were two crying babies nearby and a young boy being sick intermittently. Have a good day. Oh, while I was away several deep purple gladioli have flowered in the back garden.

Good morning Mick and all. Cloud now appears to be gathering over a sunny Angus coast. Yesterday was glorious - except for a small blip mid afternoon - and I enjoyed an amble round the garden at 9 pm. The perfume from the last blooms on the honeysuckle was beautiful. And the weight of the ripening plums is bringing the branches down to picking height. Not ready yet though.
Foxy my sincere sympathy. What a shock to lose your DBiL so unexpectedly - and being so far away you must feel so cut-off. As you say, your sister's condition will hopefully shield her a bit from the enormity of her loss .
What a wonderful 'dream holiday' you are having sago. Avila and your hotel sound so beautiful.
Karma I'm with you about the raspberries. They used to be my favourite summer fruit but yesterday I bought a small punnet of locally grown which are practically tasteless. Such a disappointment. Though I'm wondering - do our taste buds alter as we grow older?

Good morning everyone. Orkney adventures continue. Yesterday just outside Kirkwall came across this truck and alternative to the traditionalOrkney chairs! A local builder started making those during lockdown and is now adding to them. A donation for a local charity is all that is needed to view them. A walk in Kirkwall to replenish our supplies then a trip to Skara Brave to blow away the cobwebs. There is a lovely quiet beach there called Skail Bay which my sister and I often played on as children.

It is raining lightly but persistently so I shall potter about indoors. I’m feeling tired as the hiatal hernia was playing up in the night.

So sorry for your loss Foxygloves, that family have had more than their share of troubles.

Your post made me smile Cornergran. Harry Potter Lego was one of the things I used when recovering from brain injury. It helped with concentration and dexterity amongst other things. I have since passed it on to an autistic great nephew who likes both Harry Potter and Lego. He and his younger brother have built many fabulous creations and it’s good that it’s something they can do together.

I’m loving reading about all your holidays and adventures and seeing lovely photos. I can’t do much at present and I love this window on the world.

As always thinking of all dealing with troubles.

Good morning everyone from a very hot Algarve. The sky is still quite hazy as it has been all week along with very high temperatures of 35° plus. It’s really taking it out of DH and I and we’re doing as little as possible.

Good morning from a warm, still Durham. Fell into bed last night - exhausted after two days with DGS1- he’s hard work! Brought DD2’s laundry home and the first load is on the line to dry.
A gentle day on the cards with coffee at a local garden centre with a friend, then hot chocolate later with another friend, at a different garden centre. I see both friends regularly but recent child minding and other events has postponed things.
Sad news Foxy the Canadian family will feel ‘prematurely orphaned’ with their DM already ‘lost’.
Lots of lovely holidays being reported. Tui send me a daily update on my September break.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The sun is shining and I should do some washing up on the line. That's the only drawback of having a lot of people to stay, all the clearing up afterwards.

I am so sorry to hear about your Canadian family Foxygloves. As you suggest, DS will perhaps be saved the reality of her DH death.

Yes, I could and I guess should do something similar jax. We already have an HP Lego train and station ‘decorating’ the top of a bookcase. An 80th birthday gift. If only I could learn to love them! I wondered about a shelf in the loft .

Craft this morning when I will not distinguish myself but will enjoy the chat and other people’s efforts, and an afternoon with a book or I will not be ready to discuss it next week - Great Expectations, which I last read for O Level back in the dark ages of 1958. I expect to read a completely different book this time round.

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, but fine weather is forecast for today.
A good walk yesterday with our group, and. a long time spent chatting over coffee afterwards; I had intended to cut the front grass when I got back, but have put it off until today.
Hoovering downstairs this morning, clean the cats' litter tray, put the bins out are jobs that call today. I have already put yesterday's Bolognese in the freezer, Three extra portions from my batch cook yesterday.
After lunch, a visit to the well-being cafe, and then cut the.grass when I get back.
Macaroni cheese for dinner tonight.

So sorry to hear about your DBil, Foxy; my sincere condolences.

Good morning from a lovely sunny Essex coast.
We have just had four days away on our boat at a place called Burnham on Crouch. Very relaxing and the weather was great.
Today it is back to reality with loads of washing to do.
I've not really read much over the past four days as no wifi.
