Yes, 82! How did that happen? I just saw a pic of him on FB and I want some of what he's having! Why do some of us age so much better than others?

Never was a Cliff fan! He always seemed a bit too goody goody for me. Much preferred Elvis Presley who I thought was far more exciting.
When Cliff started up it was always thought he used to try to copy Elvis to a certain degree!
I think he looks a bit scrawny these days.

Never have been able to stand the man sanctimonious and gives me the creeps too Georgesgran
Give me Mick Jagger anytime Mr Cliff comes bottom of my list 🤮

Yes but Cliff was around quite a while before Mick Jagger. When my brother came home from boarding school and put Move It on our little Dansette record player I thought I was in heaven. It was a far cry from Perry flipping Como! 😂

We all moved on to the Beatles and Stones but Cliff paved the way until he got religion and his music lost its edge.

Apparently, as a little girl, I used to run around my Great Aunts big house declaring ‘I wuv Cliff Wichard’- to the amusement of all the ‘ladies’ gathered for afternoon tea. That’d be around 1963/4 I think!

I think Clif has always been a sweetie.

He was the kiss of death, for my marriage. The first 45rpm vinyl that my then boyfriend bought me was ‘The Young Ones’- we are now divorced. Sorry Cliff, I don’t blame you .

Georgesgran Fri 25-Aug-23 21:45:46

Sorry, but he gives me the creeps. Not a Stones fan, but I’d take Mick (or even Keith!) over Cliff any day.

Wow he certainly looks good with whatever he is taking its a pity Mick Jagger does not use the same .Happy Birthday Sir Cliff.flowers

Prefer Mick any day!

Cliff has always been a bit too goody goody for me. I think everything about him looks fake now

Can't stand the man, and he looks his age to me no matter how hard he tries to hide it. His hair is awful .

JenniferEccles Fri 25-Aug-23 15:58:11

He certainly could pass for at least twenty years younger, and it helps that he has always been careful not to put on weight.
I seem to remember reading that he only has one meal a day.

Obviously genes play a part but they are not the whole story.
I have always loved him.

My cousin went to school with him in Cheshunt.

He later lived in the next road to me in North London. We used to walk past his house on the way to school.

Your prerogative MrsKen33. He won’t know and wouldn’t care if he did.

lemsip Fri 25-Aug-23 14:36:56

Not his birthday till october.14 October 1940

Cliff Richard was born Harry Rodger Webb on 14 October 1940 at King George's Hospital (now KGMU Hospital), Victoria Street, in Lucknow, which was then part of British India

the OP just saw a picture of him.

MrsKen33 Fri 25-Aug-23 14:26:53

Agree with annsixty. We always call him Cliff Pilchard.

Mollygo Fri 25-Aug-23 14:06:56

Well done Cliff. I’ve seen him a few times live.

Never ever liked him and still don’t.

Been sitting on my hands - and yes, same here. He has always made me feel very uncomfortable too.

Oreo Fri 25-Aug-23 13:56:01

Mum used to like him, tbh I thought he was older than that.

Photo didn’t post.

merlotgran Fri 25-Aug-23 12:37:29

As you can see, my older brother modelled himself on Cliff (they’re the same age) and he rather fancied himself. 😂

The photo was taken on holiday. My mother has me in her, ‘Stop wriggling’ grip and my little brother has just spotted some kid kicking our sand castle!

You can tell who was Mum’s favourite! 🤣🤣

His live shows are great aren't they V3ra? We saw him a few times years ago. He's doing great for someone two months away from 83!

Three of us have tickets to his Blue Sapphire show at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo in November 🙂

Kate1949 Fri 25-Aug-23 11:06:43

His birthday is in October. He will be 83. I think he's great.
