First I went and had a pedicure which was bliss at a Vietnamese salon. You sit in a massage chair while having it done so that’s nice too. All hard skin gone, nails trimmed, filed etc and now a very bright orange colour.

Then I wandered down to look at the sea and saw loads of holidaymakers enjoying themselves on the beach and wandering about.

Went in a few shops and bought some dye to dye a cotton/linen dress I ruined last night. Bought some special feet soakers to keep my trotters in lovely condition. Half price sale in posh shoe shop so bought some trendy trainers (bargain @ £35) and some trainer socks.

Had coffee and sausage roll in a cafe.

Popped in to see niece and her kids as I always do when passing. She has a gorgeous dappled sausage dog which has the sweetest nature. He is so well behaved.

Came home and watched husband putting final touches to painting the front porch.

Just going to start cooking evening meal.

I like days of doing not very much and enjoying my own company. 👍

That sounds like a lovely day. I always seem to have commitments - Heating chap has just phoned to offer a central heating service tomorrow afternoon and that’s another week gone.

What a lovely day you’ve had *Primrose! I’m envious!

Aveline Thu 31-Aug-23 17:33:19

That sounds lovely Primrose. I'd love to do things like that. I do have committments each morning but just waste the afternoons away. My fault.

Sounds like a lovely relaxing day! We all need them. 🙂

What a lovely day.

Obviously the weather is better where you are than here, it's been about 14C and rained all day, miserable.

I have done some sorting out, most of it has gone back but more tidily. 🙂

Isn't it a joy when the day goes well! Had that experience myself recently when I went out to investigate three items and managed to come back having bought them all. Really good feeling.

That sounds such a lovely day Primrose and good that you are so aware of it too. The sort of day to file away to remember when times are not so good.

That sounds blissful Primrose53! So good to appreciate the 'busy doing nothing' days!

Sounds like you had yourself a perfect day, reminds me of Lou Reeds song Perfect Day.

I had a Bucket List day on Tuesday went to visit Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps, I have Jewish ancestry so wanted to go, an upsetting day.

If you call that not doing very much, I've no idea what you call my day.

Got up at 7, fed the dog, let him out to do the necessaries, cleaned up after him.
Read my book whilst the dog pottered and played
We both went back to sleep
Woke up, brewed up, woke Beloved, got dressed.
Had my breakfast whilst reading.
Let the dog out
Drink coffee, read book
Repeat
Repeat
Helped Beloved do evening meal
Wash pots
Drink tea/coffee, read book
Repeat
Let the dog out, Beloved has also let him out during the day
Read until bed time
Let the dog out,
Brewed up
Went to bed
Read book
Sleep

Now that's what I call not doing very much

Bliss - happy for you xxx

That sounds like a perfect, relaxing day Primrose, and why not indeed? We all need times like that. I took the dog out early for a run to the field, came back for tea & toast, vacuumed, picked tomatoes, runner beans, apples and pears from the garden. Took delivery of a huge heritage pot for my Hamamelis, and am now about to mow the grass. It has been a beautiful sunny day, with a gentle breeze. Enjoy the rest of your day. 😊

Thanks everyone.

I really value lazy days like that because they have been few and far between for many years. I looked after my Mum for 16 years and we used to go out loads but in later years I was pushing her in a wheelchair, getting her in/out of car, rushing home to get her to bed for her afternoon sleep etc.

It is just so nice to amble along by myself.

By the way we dyed my dress yesterday and it looks as good as new thanks to my husband who was in charge.

That sounds as busy as my day’s been Eejit

I still work, so my days of doing nothing are not as often. My Sundays are usually my slower days. DH is very good at keeping house, so I don't have a lot of chores, but I do the things on weekends that I like done a certain way.

Sunday is usually my kitchen day; with a pot of soup made for weekday lunch, veggies prepped for easy use, and a nice dinner made. I admit to loving a few hours in the afternoon, with a roast in the oven and a book in my lap.

Beautiful day today, so went down the garden and pottered for a while. Then went indoor , sorted out what was for lunch and dinner then did a bit of writing. I had a bit of a migraine after lunch, no pain ,just one of those zig zag things in the corner of your eye. So I closed my eyes for a half hour and it went. So a walk then with DH down to the sea. Lots of people around. Most said, ‘Lovely weather’ or Good afternoon. Home for dinner which DH made. And now we are watching The Proms on iplayer. Rachmaninov. Just perfect,
Hope everyone else has had a lovely day

Doesn’t it make you feel good to do something for yourself - by yourself - and just pleasing yourself and no one else! If we are not good to ourselves at this age- then who will be? You thoroughly deserve a day like that …..everyone who logged onto Gransnet today deserves a day like that also ……so ladies, take your clue from Primrose and pick a day to just be good to yourselves …..because we all deserve it!

Sunday is my day for "doing nothing". I dont do business on a sunday (unless someone wants to buy something very expensive) when I might send a "holding" email. A lot of my American customers are religious so sunday is church and family day for them.

I get up late (10 am is late for me) have a nice breakfast and watch Netflix for a bit. Often I binge watch serials on the various players. If the weather is fine I might do a photo shoot in the garden - dull bright days are best. Or I might edit photos of items for my various shops. Depends on how I feel.

For me a great day is when Im not expecting anyone and nobody calls. Love it.
