Miriam Margoyles - very outspoken lady

I like listening to her voice and perfect enunciation until she starts talking rubbish.

This says it all for me.

She does it purely for the shock factor which she seems to believe is funny. She’s NOT funny, and although she acted in films with real comedians she never WAS funny. By continuing with this brand of “humour” she has now just become a revolting old lady.

She is the most revolting and repulsive person as regards physical presence and personality that I know of. No contest.

The book review by Luckygirl3 is most perceptive, and adds some snippets that many folk wouldn't know. She doesn't HAVE to be on chat shows and use the fanny and fart references, she's bright enough to discuss a wide range of events both past and present. So that's a shame, as her 'potty' mouth just makes her look potty.

She's also a hypocrite, as that review points out, she makes caustic jokes about the male 'dangler' but has 2 of her own that now reach pretty much to her shins. I hadn't been aware that she boasts (that review again) of pleasuring strange men with a BJ or HJ, but that's a very useful warning!

Oh, and I also wasn't aware she'd posed nude for Augustus John -- was he at one time employed painting a circus marquee?

I wish I’d known that when we lived in Liverpool. There were some parents who sounded very like her, including the content.

I never thought I’d agree with Mrs Thatcher, but I do on Margoyles, who gives old ladies a bad name.

Just imagine the comments on GN if someone reported a concern because their next door neighbour was a foul mouthed person who constantly talked about bodily functions or other unpleasant subjects.
Actually I googled it and there are several posts, but I didn’t find anyone admiring it or offering excuses for the person’s behaviour like there are for MM.

Awful....but I do agree with Lovely lady it is sad and I wish she could just stick to acting. She must have some need to behave like this over and over.

I guess the smut has become her Unique Selling Point on chat shows. If she's like it all the time it could get wearing. I could ramble on about insecurity I suppose...

I really dislike her. I used to think she was great but when she did the program where they went to the USA and saw how American pensioners live it made my blood boil. She created such a scene with some of the war veterans and was screaming and shouting at one man in particular. I thought it was very, very rude and aggressive. Just horrid behaviour. It would be similar to being invited into the home of a friends friend and then ripping them to bits.

No, don’t like her at all. Really up herself.

She is the very last person I would ever describe as a lady. Imo she's a vile, uncouth, disgrace of a person who seems to have made a living from being foul mouthed.

One can say what one thinks without resorting to crudeness.

Miriam is a complicated person. I wasn't surprised to read in her autobiography that she has had counselling. I enjoyed parts of her book, particularly her description of her relationship with Judaism - very similar to my inlaws in that she sees it in relationship to her heritage and culture and not in any religious sense. She writes wisely about Israel too. However the book was spoilt for me by her obsession with sex (no details spared whether with a man or woman). I wasn't shocked by this but very bored with the repetition of such encounters throughout the book. That said, I find her very funny (eg on Graham Norton show) and I enjoyed her camper van trip in the US with Alan Cummings.

I’ve downloaded the kindle free sample of her book because some of the comments on here, especially luckygirl’s review, have tempted me to keep an open mind. I can always flick through the puerile bits if I decide to buy it.

I love Marmite but have never tried Vegemite. What’s the difference?
