My beloved Granny kept poultry and in those far off days, she had to sell the eggs to I think it was the egg marketing board. Would have been in early 1950's . They were a swizz as she used to get whatever the price was for standard eggs, but small eggs only got 1/2 pence (old halfpenny!!) but worse than that large eggs were not paid for at all. So as a yorkshire woman she wasnt letting that go and used to keep all the double yolkers for her own cooking etc. So much so , that as a little girl I thought all eggs had 2 yolks and when my family were visiting someone and we had eggs and bacon, I looked at the plate and asked "where is the other yolk?" My mum was mortified at what she thought was my rudeness, and of course that is a family story now. She also kept geese and 1 goose egg made scrambled egg for 4!!

If your chicken is laying soft eggs, it needs more calcium or less spinach as a general rule.

Yes, the outer part is often very soft.

We call those tiny eggs " Witch eggs "
We have 4 rescue hens and 4 young hens. One of the young ones lays blue eggs.
One of the rescue lays shell less eggs from time to time.
As long as the membrane stays in tact they're just like any other egg.
Sadly, today, the membrane burst, leaving egg all over the nest box

They are little tiny eggs that often appear when the chicken is starting its journey into egg making but do sometimes happen in an older hen. They are more like marbles than eggs.

We kept chickens and every so often had these enormous eggs. We also had "fart" eggs, also known as Fairy eggs which used to amuse us. The eggs can tell us so much about the health of a chook's reproductive system. I found it really interesting.

They’ve probably all had it for breakfast already - keen egg eaters. But dd is not at all artistic or ‘crafty’ anyway, so I doubt she’d even have thought of that.

I was wondering how many slices of eggy toast you could make from that one egg!

It's lovely. Looks like a ceramic. So kind to rescue hens. Thank you to those kind souls who do it.

Not a huge egg like the OP's but we were intrigued by this part-freckled egg laid by one of SO's rescued chooks. We're wondering if she ran out of freckles before she finished the job!
