Getting into a freshly changed bed, the sun coming out after a downpour or kicking off your shoes after a long day! Or, ( truly thrilling to me) popping into the library and finding a new story from a favourite author. The best things in life really are free!

I still love getting into a freshly laundered bed even though it has happened probaly 1000s of times.

It sounds a bit odd but I like it when something has been cancelled that I had felt obliged to attend and was dreading.

Instead of saying no at the time I had agreed to accompany a neighbour to a family party that was a long drive away and would be long and noisy. So pleased that I heard this morning that she is not going now.

I’m with you on taking off shoes. 😃

I also love getting into a freshly made bed but it's even better with a hot water bottle and a good book on a chilly night.
I love picking raspberries for my breakfast in the garden on a sunny morning. Riding a lovely horse on a clear day, looking out over the marsh or towards the hills. It's not free I'm afraid but makes me feel well and truly alive.

Theexwife, it's like a 'get out of jail free' card isn't it, big sigh of relief...
Oh foxie what a wonderful feeling to cherish, wind in your hair, world at your feet kind of moment, not free but certainly freeing. The love between us and our dearest animal friends, another joy, not so little either but humongous!

Sitting quietly knitting or reading in a cosy house listening to the rain battering against the windows

The dog’s welcome when I’ve been away from him and he first sees me. The first sip of coffee in the morning. Driving on my own on a clear road singing along with loud music on the car radio. The first warmth in the sun of the spring on my face.

A lovely new book.
A book I havent read before I just find by accident.
The smell of a new book.
Sitting down when all my chores are done.
First cup of tea.
Hugs from my family.

Fresh bedding.
Stepping on the scales to find I've lost weight.
Watching birds and animals in their normal habitat
Taking off my bra at the end of the day.

Much the same as others have already stated and it is often the small things that can be so satisfying.

Fresh bed linen and having a day when all the washing goes out on the line and comes in bone dry, or even partially dry.
The first coffee of the day, and the subsequent couple of good ones that follow.
A really good book
Visits to libraries and book shops to line up the next one!
Indian summers like today, a walk on such a sunny day appreciating the changing colours of Autumn.
Being by the sea, we've found a lovely cafe right on the beach, we're about 16 miles from the coast, so when we want a change of scenery, this place has been a real find.
Cat watching, sometimes that has to take the form of videos, I don't have one right now sad quite my favourite animal.
Finding something good to watch on the telly, such as Black Snow right now with promises of a new "The Unforgotten" quite my favourite series.
Family weekends when they occur, but equally happy when we have a quiet one too!
A Saturday night glass of wine

A cuddle today with our gorgeous new grandson.
The lovely walk I've just done in the late autumn sunshine with our dogs .
Getting into bed tonight with new sheets.
My early morning soak in the bath with a coffee and a good book.
Watching the many birds that visit our feeders.

Yes to bed linen.
Yes to peace.
Yes to birdsong.
Yes to cut grass[fact it has been cut, and the smell].
Yes to smell of coffee and smell of freshly baked bread.

Yes to any number of things actually.
Hearing, sight, family, friends etc.
It is only sometimes when things are taken away, that we realise quite how much we had.

Waiting for Mr. S to get home from work, trying a new recipe, a good book, and a really good cup of coffee that you wish would never end,

AskAlice Fri 29-Sept-23 18:21:29

Finding a new crime author on my Kindle Unlimited subscription that I really like, and then finding they have written a series of 10+ books that I can download and binge-read!!

Finding that a favourite plant has self-seeded, sharing them with friends, neighbours and family.

Freshly baked bread that I've made myself being named as "the best ever" by my dear GC.

crazyH Fri 29-Sept-23 18:34:58

Lots of food in fridge - nothing to do except watch CourtTV all day - like today 😂

keepcalmandcavachon Fri 29-Sept-23 18:38:33
