Marydoll we are a group of friends from school, too many years ago to count! Everyone is far flung and we try to catch up once a year for lunch. They all came to our friend's funeral despite the distance and this lunch tomorrow is our first catch up without her

Grey and distinctly cool this morning though the foreccast promises a lovely weekend. Yesterday proved busy but today should be less so - visit from the hairdresser and then a trip to the solicitor to make a new will. Not entirely straightforward so I need good advice as I don’t want to make life difficult for the family.

Small local shop then I have a choice ironing, housework or one of my new books could manage all 3 but don't want to appear to enthusiastic.

I pickled my onions yesterday and finally got round to prepping veggies for Christmas Chutney which I will cook later today.

Good morning from a dry day with a promise of warm sun later. Off to my stretch class in just over an hour and then a visit to our nearest little town for a few essential bits including collecting a prescription from the surgery.

Not the most exciting day but I value having time and feeling well to be able to enjoy pottering and relaxing with a good book. Yesterday’s virtual meeting was fascinating and I’ll enjoy reading the notes emailed afterwards and try to remember them for my work next week.

Hoping for some rest and relaxation for those with worries about loved ones or concerns for themselves.

Great that you found the key, GMBatty. The same thing happened with my favourite watch, having lost it for sixth months. An old lady I knew, had a habit of asking for a lift, if she saw you in the street or shops. One day she asked for a lift to Paisley(!!!!!) and on alighting, spotted my watch. I felt very guilty at having grudged her the lift. 😉

Nothing much to say, groundhog day again yesterday. I live in eternal hope of feeling better, when I awaken, but nothing changes. The dizziness and nausea are debilitating. I'm hoping the cardiologist has a magic solution.
I have an appointment today, which I can't cancel, so DH will be my carer and in charge. 😉

Mick, I do worry about you. That's good the medicine is helping, as long as it is under medical supervision. My BIL did what you are doing, without monitoring, he nearly died and surgeons had to remove half his bowel.

Good morning from an overcast Colchester. It's dry and warm here so no heating needed yet.
DH went fishing at stupid o'clock, so I have an empty.
Lots of household jobs to do including taking up one pair of trousers and taking another pair back for a refund. Same shop, same size, completely different fits.

Good morning from a dull South Downs.

Yesterday as i exited the pharmacy at Shoreham having had my Covid jab, i bumped into my oldest friend (since age 11) - she lives in British Colombia, but had made an emergency visit to her sister who has had a stroke. We sat and had coffee before arranging to see each other on Friday for lunch.

Serendipity.

Nothing planned today. Bit of this and that.

Good morning, it’s damp here on the edge of the Cotswolds but hopefully a dry day ahead.
For some reason my legs were very achy during the night, I slept very poorly so feeling somewhat tired this morning.
Art group this afternoon which will be fun, it’s a lovely group of ladies.
Dog walk shortly -she’s been in an odd mood for the past few days, I have no clue why. At the moment she’s curled up on the bed next to me while I have my coffee.

Good morning from a dry Cornwall, sunny day ahead. Took my Boro waistcoat to craft group yesterday and the ex-biker guy helped with some useful suggestions about the collar. We swapped vintage books about denim. One of the organisers showed me pictures of Majorcan fabric she hopes to buy on holiday next week. A group of young home-schooled children joined us. A really fascinating morning.

Today, knee permitting, I'll climb down some tunnel steps to a favourite pebbly beach and do some reading.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s just about light in South Yorkshire. Whatever was ailing me yesterday has shrugged itself off so I will go out with the walking group into the no doubt muddy woods this morning and then go to DDs for lunch. I must remember to take GS his Anzac biscuits. I will do some shopping on the way home. There’s a Lidl I like to call into - we don’t have one near us.

Morning Mick, morning All. Looks dry out there, some sun forecast for our corner of Somerset.

Decent day yesterday, decided on curtains and a rug for our living room, enjoyed seeing our daughter in law and the typhoon who had a wonderful time beating Mr C at a video game which is far beyond my understanding. Good to see them laughing together. Our daughter in law is resigned to her surgery but worried about the impact on her son who will not be permitted to visit while she is in hospital. He’s very cross about it.

First job today is to fill the slow cooker, then I hope to re-plant the front garden troughs, a task which appeals far more. Not sure what else other than the carpenters will be here around 5 to re-fit the living room door.

I’m cautiously optimistic for you grandmattie. Mr Teflon will I hope agree the estimate from your plumber. Busy as ever grandmab, good luck. Hope the appointment goes well baubles. We tend to follow such things with coffee or lunch, a sort of reward.

Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It was the WI committee meeting last night so at some point I have to type up the notes. We’ve arranged our Christmas party and a visit to the Christmas market in Winchester. OH and I are having lunch out today. We have some vouchers.

That’s a good ploy, grandMattie! It was very interesting to hear that the youngsters are welcoming to the (generally older) folk who volunteer as pastors and will sometimes berate others who use bad language around them. The police and club bouncers value their calming presence on the streets and they certainly have my admiration, not least for venturing out on the streets when I’m normally thinking about going to bed!

It’s good to hear from you, Grandmabatty and it’s not surprising that your hairdresser was kind to you when you give out so much to family and friends, including virtual ones on here. 💐🥰

Ash, we once had a talk from Street Pastors too. What I found really amusing was that they give argumentative youngsters a lollipop. Hard to be aggressive with one in your mouth! 😂

Yesterday I found my house key! I pushed the car seat right back and saw it glinting. With a bit of effort I managed to hook it out. Phew. I had an early haircut and my lovely hairdresser gave me a free bottle of fairly expensive shampoo. He's so kind. I visited the library to exchange books. Then I called in on my friend's partner for coffee. We chatted for a couple of hours then he gave me some of her costume brooches to dispose of. I'm catching up with a group of friends tomorrow,so will see if anyone wants a brooch in memory of a good friend.
Today I'm doing an extra childcare day as the other grandparents are away on holiday. Let mayhem ensue! Have a good day all

DD2 is ringing this morning (hands free) on her way to work. I always enjoy catching up with family news. Like many families, they have such busy lives that she fits me in when she can.

Thank you for your kind words yesterday about olddudders returning on Hallowe’en, which we both appreciate.

The talk from the Street Pastors was very revealing, not least being told that Torbay has the fifth worst drug problem in the country! We raised £85 for them from an impromptu whip round as they rely entirely on donations for funding.

Today I might go to my holiday static for a few days, depending on how my hip behaves when I’m up. It’s still grumpy, mainly in the mornings. I think sitting up in bed aggravates it but TIB is an essential start to the day!!

Good morning from a dry Bristol.
I had an odd day yesterday. My tumble dryer was due between 0700 and 1900! I got a text telling me it would be between 1530 and 1930, let off a bit…
My plumber texted me early saying he had a gap in early November, how were things proceeding. I decided to mail Mr. Teflon, asking if the plumber could do the whole job for minimum disruption, but charge the management for the work for them. I also asked for an early reply. To my astonishment, he replied within 30 minutes, agreeing but asking for a quote. All systems go. Again. I’m not holding my breath, but am quietly optimistic this time.
I went into Bristol for my new glasses, which seem ok. But because of the type of correction I don’t really know for some days. We’ll see.
I spent the rest of the day doing my Spanish homework, sewing and waiting. The tumble dryer is very splendid but yet to be used.
Today, my usual Tai-chi class and dinner with DD. I also have a visit from a PhD student to monitor my energy and water use. I use both very carefully, not necessarily because of cost, but because I have always been careful, and taught my children to be too.
