Lovely deer picture Yia we have actually seen deer walking up our street in Dunblane. There are woods on the outskirts. They were three of them spotted at night by a neighbor earlier on in the year eating our tulips. We did wonder where the flower parts had gone. Sorry to hear of all the ones with problems sleeping, I wake up several times during the night but usually go back to sleep quite quickly. Enjoy what is left of your evening everyone.

SueDonim Tue 21-Nov-23 20:55:18

Hello, everyone. A few messages first - I’m so sorry if I miss people out, it’s not intentional. Soop a midway point to meet is an excellent idea - everyone gets a little trip away, then!
GMbatty I love Carol’s car, that is so adorable! You do sound so busy with your little GSes.
I’m sorry you’re having sleep problems, Corner. That’s so miserable. Have you tried taking magnesium supplements? Apparently, it helps to relax muscles and aid your sleep. I’ve tried it myself and whilst it didn’t make any difference to me, it helped Dh and some friends to sleep more soundly.
Jaxjacky having to face up to an op isn’t fun, though I imagine a hernia isn’t much fun either. I hope you’re soon at the top,of the list.
Yia what a lovely letter to receive! ❤️ The people we sold our house to in 1996 are still in it, which makes me smile when I think of it. They were young newly-weds then and now they’re middle-aged and have children who’ve flown the nest! We’re not in touch as such but I sent them some historic paperwork to do with the house that I found and received a nice reply. I love your deer, what huge ears it has!
Annsixty & Blossoming modern technology has a lot to answer for! grin

Once again, I’ve been busy. I went to a local craft fair on Sunday and bought a few gifts. I also bumped into someone I hadn’t seen for about 20years so we had a quick catch up.

I’ve also been ordering presents for Christmas and winter birthdays, organising our trip away next week and other things. I unearthed some Xmas wrapping paper today so need to begin that task. I plan to take presents with us when we go - let’s see if that actually happens! I think what I really need to do is write a big To Do list, to keep me on track.

We’ve begun watching the latest series of All Creatures Great and Small. Such lovely viewing, cute animals and some splendid knitwear! Most enjoyable.

TOYA. Xxx

Thanks Jax sounds like you’ve got a good team there!

Jaxjacky Tue 21-Nov-23 19:38:22

We are four brook two male friends who we’ve known for years, one of whom tuts when we get popular culture 🙂, MrJ, as the youngest of us is good at that.
Your lack of sleep is a priority corner, you must be zombified, I hope your GP produces the goods.

brook2704 Tue 21-Nov-23 19:30:16

Good evening kitchen pals, a good day here and it’s even stayed dry all day!
Soop such a lovely idea to arrange a family get together but I’m with the others on this and hope it could be arranged a bit closer to yours so you don’t have a really difficult journey. If not then the train would probably be my preferred option, as you can both sit and relax and look out of the window. A first class ticket is well worth the extra especially if you can book well in advance and have a senior railcard. Let us know how you get on
A gorgeous deer yia you’re lucky to see it from your window. We sometimes see them at the bottom of the garden in the wood.
Sorry to hear you’ll need an op Jax hoping you've not too long to wait and it’s trouble free. Well done with the quiz, are you and MrJax the complete team or are there more in the team with you?
Hoping you get your sleep sorted out cornergran it’s awful isn’t it. I suffer quite badly from hay fever and other allergies so when I take the antihistamines they make me feel really drowsy so I always sleep well - it’s about the only positive side effect!
Sounds like another successful day at the nursery grandmabatty well done !

Grandmabatty Tue 21-Nov-23 17:44:51

Cornergran my sympathies with your insomnia. It's awful. I hope you can reset your sleep pattern

Grandmabatty Tue 21-Nov-23 17:43:18

Good evening Kitcheners. It's Day two in the big grandma house. Who will be going home today? Both boys did! A good day with some intense complaints from dgs2 at times. Usually concerning something he wanted that I wasn't giving him. 😂 We were at the toy shop to pick up something for dgs1 that dd ordered. Fortunately dgs2 is not verbal enough to share the details. Dgs1 was busy practising his number writing at nursery and was praised by the teacher. Dgs2 can now add Carol's car(my neighbour )to his list of car words, joining black, blue and white car. Grandma managed to tidy up before I took them home then went back to the toy shop to pick up dgs2's Christmas present. All in all, a good day. I'm having a very down to earth dinner of pie, chips and beans. Jaxjacky that's a shame that you will need an op. I hope you don't have to wait too long.Soop a family get-together sounds just the business. Get organising! Yiayia what a bonus for you, both the letter and the deer. Nature is so rewarding. Nannytopsy reading a book is classed as hard work in my book (!) I hope you enjoyed it. Blossoming sometimes technology falls out with me too.
Have a good evening all

cornergran Tue 21-Nov-23 17:35:17

We never relish surgery for sure jax, but if it’s necessary best to get on with it. Hope the wait isn’t too long.

Carlisle seems to be an excellent thought jax, what do you think soop? Sometimes we need to think of ourselves. As an aside Mr C and I took a break near there a couple of times en route to Scotland in our touring caravan days, loved the area. Will never forget sitting by a river watching otters swimming back and forth. Magical. Goodness, that was a long while ago.

You were far more patient than I would have been blossoming. Offending articles would have found their wings and flown grin.

Time to move here. Still finding sleep elusive, I’m at the numb stage. Thankfully a GP appointment on Thursday about something else. I’ll sneak in my lack of sleeping pattern in the hope she’ll agree to a short term sleeping tablet. I’m getting to be a risk to the world, as well as very irritable. Poor Mr C is very keen I re-set my sleeping patterns. Can’t think why hmm.

Take care everyone. TOYA.

Yiayia4 Tue 21-Nov-23 16:30:31

Sorry to hear that Jax. Hope you don’t have to wait to long.💐

Jaxjacky Tue 21-Nov-23 16:25:36

That was kind of your buyers Yia, what a pretty deer, very cheering.
I hope you’ve got your card sorted now ann very frustrating and that ‘the boys’ are giving Grandmabatty* a gentle day.
We came second in quiz last night after a tie break, excellent, free entry next week.
GP this morning, my inguinal hernia will need an op, I’d guessed as much, but not the best news.
It was decidedly chilly on my daily walk, I felt the better for it though.
soop I’d suggest a meet up nearer to you, let the youngsters travel, Carslile?
Thinking of you both Urms.
Ttfn.

soop Tue 21-Nov-23 15:26:17

A lovely photograph, Yia. Deer are such gentle creatures.

ann We always choose to stay at a Premier Inn. Over the years, we have never had the slightest cause for complaint.

I am wanting to get our family together (sometime in the spring). Neither Mr Soop nor I are as sprightly as we were when we first moved to Scotland over twenty years ago. At that time we frequently travelled to London and the Midlands and it was a doddle. Middle and eldest sons live in Rutland. Youngest son in London. We are hoping that middle son, a whiz at organisation, can rally the troops for a weekend in Rutland. We may travel by bus ( a long and tedious form of transport), or fly from Campbeltown to Glasgow and either take a second flight to Birmingham or take the train south...or, we may motor the near 600 miles and break the journey with a Premier Inn stopover. Any thoughts? wink

A stroll around Tarbert harbour was today's treat. The air is chilly but there isn't a hint of a breeze. This afternoon is earmarked for some sewing duties. Nothing too complicated. Mainly hemming and the likes.

My love to you lovely lot. Take the best possible care of yourselves. smile moon

soop Tue 21-Nov-23 15:05:52

Dear Urms I am another Granspal who would love to able to hug you. This is a sad time for a number of Kitcheners. All that we can do is be here to listen and remind you that you matter. flowers

Yiayia4 Tue 21-Nov-23 14:41:11

It’s a bleak wet day but,two nice things have happened so far.We had a lovely letter from the buyers of our house to say they love the house and are very happy. That is so nice to hear.
The second thing, we looked out of our window a while ago to see a young deer in the gardens. Its made my day.

Hope your not too exhausted today Grandmabatty.
Best wishes to the Urms today, hope all went well.

Have a good afternoon and evening everyone.

hulahoop Tue 21-Nov-23 11:54:35

Looks like my post went missing so I will try again belated birthday wishes Granmarie sounds like you had a good one.

Nannytopsy Mon 20-Nov-23 23:56:58

I feel your pain Blossoming. There are times when I hate computers. And broadband. And a smart TV! They are all marvellous when they work of course.
I hope you are OK soop - well done with the ironing. I’m afraid I sat and read my book all day instead of achieving anything.
Tomorrow is another day!

Blossoming Mon 20-Nov-23 21:48:11

Good evening all, a late visit from me. The weather has been very dank and dismal, I have been pottering indoors while MrB has been shopping to Lidl this morning. I have had fun and games with my email server earlier, telling me I’d entered the wrong password. I hadn’t but the verification process kept failing. I managed to sort it by tweaking the settings via the web server but then it decided to download messages I’d already seen as well as the new ones. All sorted now, no computer equipment thrown out of the window despite the provocation.

Goodnight all, sleep tight x

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 20-Nov-23 21:32:53

Hello kitchen people.
Well, OH and I had a great day. We went to the Victorian exhibition at the Ashmolean in Oxford and it was brilliant. We then had a delicious lunch at Cote.
I hope everyone is having the best evening possible.

annsixty Mon 20-Nov-23 18:51:40

Good evening all from a dank and dark Stockport.
I have had the laziest of days. My GD has been working from home so I decided to stay out of her way.
I kept to my bedroom apart from going down to make a snack for lunch and leftover chicken and veg for my evening meal which I have already had.

The first thing I did was lock myself out of my M&S bank card.
It is the account I use for any Amazon, Sainsbury’s and M&S shopping online, so it is well used at this time of year.
Try as I have I cannot rectify it so my GD will have to have a go when she has had a break and made herself something to eat.

I needed to do some online stuff today for my peace of mind.
So I got on with it using my debit card. I have booked my train tickets and accommodation to go to see my family down south in the New Year.
I prefer to book a Premier Inn near to them for both space and privacy.
I am too old now as are the GC, both adults, now to be bunking in one of their rooms while one has to sleep downstairs.
Also I am a poor sleeper and get up several times a night.
This disturbs the dog and the three cats and my arrangement is better all round.

Welcome to the new kitcheners and helpful vibes to Grandmabatty you will need a holiday yourself after this week.
GrannMarie is indeed kind to mention so many of us.
I forget almost as soon as I read.

I wish you all a peaceful evening.

Jaxjacky Mon 20-Nov-23 18:30:06

Sounds great GrannySomerset, I’m pleased you enjoyed yourself.
Feet up indeed Grandmabatty let’s hope the boys are good all week, feet up for you indeed.
We’re also paring down the decorations brook mainly as my daughter and children, for the first time ever, aren’t staying here for Christmas Eve then through the day? We’re going there on the 25th, I have mixed feelings about it, my control has been wrested away!
A very busy day on the voluntary phone, quiz later.
Ttfn.

brook2704 Mon 20-Nov-23 18:05:07

Hi to all kitchen pals, another rainy day here, good job I got a bit of gardening done at the weekend
It’s so nice to dress up for an evening out grannysomerset I remember doing that every Friday for years - but that was many moons ago. Then the children came along, DH used to love being the taxi driver for DDs and their pals as he said the car smelt so lovely when they’d been in it. Happy days!
We dropped DGS of at school this morning then a quick trip to the gym for Zumba. I started sorting through boxes of Christmas decorations this afternoon as I think I’ll put fewer up this year- just my favourite ones. Less is more so to speak
Happy to hear Monday went well at grandmabattys nursery - hope you get a rest this evening with your feet up!
Well done to your DGS soop man of the match indeed! 🏅

Grandmabatty Mon 20-Nov-23 17:27:30

Drat. I meant to say have a good evening Kitcheners

Grandmabatty Mon 20-Nov-23 17:27:08

Good evening Kitcheners. Boys have been dropped off. We have all survived Day one in the grandma house. 😂 Both boys were pretty well behaved today. Grannysomerset I have heard that dressing up for an evening out is taken very seriously in Liverpool. I'm glad you enjoyed the celebrations. Soop you should be very proud of your dgs. Man of the match is an achievement.
A quiet evening ahead for me. Easy dinner and a long lie til six tomorrow morning. Have a good day all

GrannySomerset Mon 20-Nov-23 16:52:48

Now safely back under my strawberry leaf (like Timmy Willie, for those versed in B.Potter) after a memorable visit to Liverpool for DGD1’s 21st celebrations. Lots of stunning young women having such a good time, though the young men were less dazzling. Dressing up for an evening out is taken seriously in Liverpool!

So a lovely weekend including conversations with DD and DSiL’s friends, some I hadn’t seen since DGD1’s christening, though I was acutely aware of being the oldest person in the room. Tempus fugit indeed.

soop Mon 20-Nov-23 14:33:48

I apologise for not sending greetings on your birthday Grannmarie. I hope that you were royally treated from start to finish. I also agree with brook. You are a lovely lady.

Grandmabatty A gold star for your dear daughter. The cake is magnificent. Looks almost too good to eat.

I've ironing to keep me out of mischief. Have just received a newsy update from my youngest son. His son plays rugby. He was named "man of the match" at the weekend.

Time to log off. My VERY best wishes to every Kitchener with problems and health issues.

soop Mon 20-Nov-23 14:21:32
