DGS is sleeping soundly and I’ve just caught up with the Strictly results show. Won’t be long before I’m in bed either
Grannmarie your posts are so lovely and kind, you always mention everyone by name and have lovely things to say. You’re an absolute star ⭐️

👋 Hello 👋, YiaYia and Scapa, crossed posts.
YiaYia, happy birthday to your twin sons for Wednesday, enjoy your family meal.
Scapa, well done to your DGDs on their football ⚽ successes, on such a miserable day. DGD played rugby in her last year at Primary.

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Thanks to all for the kind birthday wishes, I've had a great weekend.

Nannytopsy, good luck with your new knee, and the new baby, lots to look forward to. Mincemeat flapjacks, delicious!

Grandmabatty, your DD is certainly blessed with a good pair of hands, your wee boy's birthday cake is a work of art. Wishing him a very happy 2cnd birthday! I hope you're feeling much better now, pace yourself for a busy week ahead!

Blossoming, I hope you are doing OK. You are very disciplined with your balancing exercises, reminds me to revisit some of my physio exercises, my balance hasn't been great since I injured my knee.

Ladyleftfieldlover, your church service sounds very special. What a talented young organist. We had a busier Mass than usual this morning as it was Education Sunday so we had uniformed children from our local Primary and High schools taking part in the Liturgy with Readings and Bidding Prayers. Then I visited the sick, one of the lifts was off in the tower block I visit so that involved the use of the fire stairs! My exercise for the day ....

Jaxjacky, your dinner sounds tasty. So many good cooks in this friendly kitchen! We rounded off my birthday celebrations with an Indian meal this evening, I had fish pakora then mixed biryani, with chicken, lamb and prawns. Delicious, I couldn't finish it all!

Brook, your DGS is going to be very busy with the Christmas Post, especially with the price of stamps now. I'm sure he's enjoying his sleepover. 😴

Annsixty, I hope your DGD feels better soon, and you don't catch whatever it is. Lots of bugs going around just now.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday night.
TOYA, NNGB

What a dull day here in Dunblane but at least it was dry. Made leek and potato soup for lunch enough left for another couple of meals. Started to organize Xmas cards this afternoon, I think I might have to do a cull with the price of stamps! Rest of the day was pretty lazy. Had cod fillet with mushrooms and cheese sauce on top for dinner followed by sticky toffee pudding. Granddaughters had a successful day at their respective football games the 10yr old getting player of the week in her game she was so happy. Settling down to watch I am a Celebrity don’t know how long it will take to get fed up with it. Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone.

Happy belated birthday Granmarie sounds like a lovely celebration.🎉🎂🎁
Wonderful cake Grandmabatty.
A quiet day here. It’s my twin DS’s birthday on Wednesday we will have dinner at DS3 on Wednesday the youngest by 15 minutes! DS2 is of course up north but we will speak during the day.
Sleep well all especially those with a busy week.

annsixty Sun 19-Nov-23 19:27:42

Superb cake Grandmabatty I can bake a good cake but can’t decorate for toffee and envy all those who can.

annsixty Sun 19-Nov-23 19:26:07

I am tired tonight and won’t be late in bed.
My GD isn’t well and has spent the day in bed with very little to eat.
She feels fluey but we haven’t any Covid tests in so can’t rule that out.
I have cooked a chicken with roast potatoes, carrots and courgettes.

It has rained all day, most unpleasant.
I need to book my train to go to my D’s straight after Christmas
tomorrow.
We have decided that rather me having to cross London from Euston,I will travel to Southampton and she will pick me up from there.
It is a direct journey, 4 hours but better than the alternative route.
I hope the poorlies and those feeling sad are coping and that things change for them if that is possible.

brook2704 Sun 19-Nov-23 19:23:28

What an amazing cake grandmabatty your DD really is very talented. I hope your DGS had a really lovely day. You’ll be busy next week so hope you get an early night! You’re so kind to everyone especially your mum and the other the ladies at the hospital

We picked up DGS from the local Tesco earlier. He’d been selling Christmas stamps for the local scout postal scheme which he’s involved in. He’ll be out delivering the cards around Inverness in December. We’ve been playing his favourite Ticket to Ride board game and hopefully he’s getting ready for bed soon
Will pop back here later when he’s asleep !

Jaxjacky Sun 19-Nov-23 19:13:33

Hi all, gosh Grandmabatty a busy week, you’ll need sustenance.
Grannmarie sounds like a wonderful birthday 🎂 any more celebrations looming?
A quiet day, as Sunday’s tend to be, a walk in light drizzle, a last prune in the garden and meat draw 🙁, no luck.
Chicken legs on a bed of leeks with mash and broccoli.
Enjoy your evening all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 19-Nov-23 18:32:32

Hello kitchen people. I hope you’ve all had a good day.
I went to a tiny church this morning. Just nine in the congregation, plus the vicar and organist. The organist looks around 30 and always give a little concert at the end of the service. He played a bit of Bach today,
I spent the afternoon reading the paper, ordering a few Christmas presents and assisting OH in putting another picture up in the newish spare room.
Beef stew and sticky toffee pudding for dinner.
Have a good evening.

Blossoming Sun 19-Nov-23 16:40:26

What a beautiful cake Grandmbatty. Sounds like you’re in for a busy week. I must make some more soup tomorrow, I will make a bigger batch this time and freeze some. I’ve done some laundry today, will do towels tomorrow and will probably need to use the tumble dryer. I’ve also doing some basic balance exercises, much as I did in the early days of learning to walk again.

Have a lovely evening all.

Grandmabatty Sun 19-Nov-23 16:17:30

Good afternoon kitcheners. Grannmarie a belated happy birthday to you. It sounds like a lovely family time. Nannytopsy I hope your new knee and the new baby don't coincide! Today I had a quick trip to Tesco for wrapping paper and sundry goodies for dgs2's birthday. Then headed up to see the birthday boy who couldn't have cared less but loved all his new cars. His big brother was wildly excited though. Dd made his birthday cake which I've added here. This afternoon I visited mum. Her eye is still sore, so I got gauze and saline water and carefully wiped it while chatting. The nurse was really grateful because mum is not an easy patient! Then I blethered to another old lady who was really blue. I ended up giving her a cuddle. Poor soul, she never gets visitors.
Tonight I'm having a minced beef pie and assorted vegetables followed by warm mince pie and ice cream. I've made a huge pot of lentil soup, thinking of you Grannmarie, and that'll be lunch for the week. I'm having the boys all week because their other grandparents are on holiday. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Good afternoon 😊. It’s raining here , MrB has gone for a walk. I’ve loaded the washer and am listening to Gardeners Question Time. A mincemeat flapjack will go down nicely Nannytopsy, thank you very much. Good news on your knee op.

Nannytopsy Sun 19-Nov-23 09:13:57

Morning! It’s bright and sunny in Suffolk - I just hope it stays this way. We have SiL and her two dogs for the weekend so no long lie in. She has just gone off to walk them.
Love and best wishes to the Baggs & the Urms. I think you make us all count our blessings.
I have been contacted to say I may get my new knee in the New Year. Very glad except that DD’s new baby is due in early February and we are booked to look after DGS. It will work out …
There’s a pile of mincemeat flapjacks on the table for elevenses.
