Urms , 💐for you and all with worries and sadness.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 15-Nov-23 22:40:26

Hello kitchen people.
Urms, I’m so sorry you are feeling low. 🌹
I had a better day than yesterday. Check up at the dentist where all was well. Lunch with the U3A, which was delicious. There is a Christmas shop in the town where we met for lunch so we popped in. I bought two or three ornaments for the tree. Later I fed my friend’s fish - some in the garden and others in an aquarium in the house. They are away for a week so I am helping out. Finally, it was WI tonight. We had a Christmas craft evening. I am useless but it was good to chat to people and drink wine and eat nibbles!
Have a good evening, especially those of you who are experiencing difficulties.

Grandmabatty Wed 15-Nov-23 21:34:43

Grannmarie soup making for me at the weekend and it'll be lentil soup for me too. Urms do you have someone in real life you can talk to? You need support too. My friend's partner spoke with Macmillan.

Jaxjacky Wed 15-Nov-23 20:51:48

Oh Urms the highs then the deep, deep lows, sending a big hug and xxx

Grannmarie Wed 15-Nov-23 20:49:19

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.
I'm glad to hear that Soop's GP visit was helpful, I hope MrSoop recovers quickly from his vaccine reaction.
YiaYia, thinking of you and your DS. Sorry you are feeling a bit low, it's only natural when we have family/ health worries. I hope the steroid injection helps you.
I hope the Corners' medical stuff goes well tomorrow. Thinking of Dusty and MrD., also Urms and Himself, Blossoming, Niene and all who need/ wish a wee prayer. 🙏💕
Grandmabatty, I bought a big ham hough in Morrisons, I'll be making lentil soup tomorrow. I got the butcher laddie to saw it in half for me, so that's some for the freezer!
Nannytopsy, that's a lovely stage your wee DGS is at, Grandmabatty' s DGS2 also.
I love when wee ones start talking, especially to each other. I remember when our three boys shared a bedroom, DS3 was starting to chat and I loved listening to him blethering to his big brothers when they woke up.
Jaxjacky, your dinner sounds great! Well done on your Quiz.
Brook, I'm in awe of your energy and enthusiasm for your gym classes, well done. I'm hoping to get back to Aquafit soon.🤞
Another grey and rainy day here, I went to Mass and Coffee Morning as usual, but my friend is in hospital just now so I hope she gets home soon and back to our Wednesday routine as she really enjoys it. Everyone was asking for her this morning.
I met my DSis1 and her baby GD for a wee walk in the park this afternoon between showers. A pram is a great walking aid!
TOYA, NNGB.

Chin up Urms you are allowed to feel like that don’t be hard on yourself. Good that you had a productive medical meeting yesterday Soop. Some dust removal this morning, where does it all come from? DGD2 came after school as usual on Wednesdays was lovely to see her and her wonderful smile.

Urmstongran Wed 15-Nov-23 20:46:23

Bedtime here. My safe space. In the dark my silent tears can just drip onto the pillow on nights such as these.
x

brook2704 Wed 15-Nov-23 20:33:24

Apologies, crossed posts Urms so sorry to hear you’re feeling upset, we’re all here for you, sending ❤️❤️

brook2704 Wed 15-Nov-23 20:31:27

Hoping you’re feeling a bit better soon grandmabatty and you’ve enjoyed your chill out time on the sofa. Blummin heck thought you deserved a rest after cleaning the oven!
Yia hoping the injection has helped a bit, sending 💐
Another busy day, DGD is here, she’s been soaking in a deep bubble bath and has now just gone off to bed. I’ve collapsed on the sofa with lots still to do but not much energy left
We’ve got a wood burner Jax it’s lovely on a cold winters evening but we don’t use it that often these days as ours is quite difficult to keep clean. It’s nice to make the effort from time to time though and we can get plenty of wood for free from the bottom of the garden
Hoping everyone has a lovely evening and sleeps well x

Grandmabatty Wed 15-Nov-23 20:30:09

Urms I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling upset. I send you a hug. Life is one step forward, two steps back at times. 💐

Urmstongran Wed 15-Nov-23 20:26:01

‘Evening All’.

I feel a bit tearful. It’s been a difficult tea time.
Perhaps I ought not to post when I feel panicky like this. It never goes away it just hovers.

dustyangel what a lovely comment. It touched me greatly.
Thank you.

Jaxjacky Wed 15-Nov-23 19:25:24

Hi kitcheners, I hope your insoles do the job soop as I wish the same for you Yia and the steroid injection.
Sadly your son will need lots of TLC which I’m absolutely certain you’re providing Yia and time.
Big DrWho fan here Grandmabatty may your reminiscing cheer you and the rest speed your recovery.
A lovely sunny day today, but the washing hardly dried at all, so it’s now inside, a lovely walk observing the local gardens changing and someone chopping logs,. Wood burner envy, unfortunately not feasible for our semi.
Tomorrow is forecast heavy rain and colder, it’s definitely soup weather Blossoming, must away and tend our chicken and squash curry.

Grandmabatty Wed 15-Nov-23 17:19:40

Soop I hope the diagnosis and subsequent treatment is successful. Yiayia that's rotten news for you. How to kick someone when they're down. A virtual hug for you. Blossoming I'm a bit fan of soup. I could eat it every day. Neine good to hear from you and good that you are better.
I have pottered about today. I even managed to clean the oven! However I didn't feel good this afternoon. Headache, sneezing, coughing etc, so decided not to visit mum. I feel a bit guilty but she won't remember anyway. So I'm tucked up on the couch, watching Tom Baker as Dr Who and reliving my youth. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Blossoming Wed 15-Nov-23 15:56:37

Crossed posts Yia. I hope the steroid injection will help and that you have some pain relief in the meantime. Sending love and healing to your dear son who is really going through the mill x

Yiayia4 Wed 15-Nov-23 15:48:41

That’s good news Soop good luck with the insoles.
Pleased your feeling better Neine.
My trip to the rheumatologist resulted in a steroid injection to see if the stiffness and pain will ease.He feels it could be a return of polymyalgia or a flare of the psoriatic arthritis.I feel a bit low today but I realise it could be a lot worse tomorrow’s another day and I need to be positive for my D.S.

Enjoy your evening everyone

Blossoming Wed 15-Nov-23 15:46:48

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Yesterday I changed bedding and washed it. It was really hard work and I was aching afterwards. Oddly, I find the duvet cover relatively easy to deal with but it takes so long now and taxes the muscles. I had to use the tumble dryer to start drying, no chance of line drying, and the dehumidifier dealt with it after that. It was lovely putting away the clean, fresh laundry afterwards.

I didn’t get round to making the soup so I have done that this afternoon. The kitchen smells lovely and that’s my tea sorted! MrB will be having something eggy as well, he requires more fuel than me 😊

Good to see you posting Neine and glad you’re feeling better.

Glad your doctor visit went well Soop, hope the vaccine reaction is very mild.

Have a peaceful evening and a restful night all.

soop Wed 15-Nov-23 13:09:43

I fully intended visiting our kitchen after the visit to the GP late yesterday afternoon. However, the surgery was running a tad late. No bother. A very efficient locom doctor spent some considerable time manipulating my foot, measuring both ankles and calves and knees. He concluded that the pain was as a result of plantar fasciitis. I have special orthotic insoles and feel that I am on the road to recovery. Thank goodness. As we were about to leave, the practise nurse asked us if we would like the double vaccine. We waited a while, had both Covid and flu vaccines, waited around for a little longer and returned home much later than anticipated. Mr Soop is suffering a mild reaction. He has a blood disorder. I am therefore nursing him. He deserves to be pampered as does so much to assist me, including doing the ironing yesterday morning. Now, I need to prepare lunch. He is resting his eyes and has his feet up. Bless! smile

Morning ladies... Thank you for all your healing thoughts. I'm almost back to 'normal' (I don't think that word is something most folks would put alongside my name at the best of times tbh🙂). My tummy is still a bit tender but I only look about 3 months pregnant now!!!!. My appetite is reduced but that's no bad thing coming up for Christmas and I've lost a few pounds. I had mashed potato and yellow fish (smoked haddock poached in milk and butter) for my first real food as that's what my Mum used to make when I had been poorly when I was little. DOH had some quite faddy food tastes when we first got together...no fish ..dumplings...omelettes etc ( I suppose when you are with someone who refuses to cook and relies on take away food your tastes do become quite staid). He has been educated now!!!!!! but when I mentioned what I was having his response was.... You'll enjoy that. I cooked both pieces knowing I wouldn't manage both but thought the 22 year old cat with no teeth could have the rest. No so...just as we were making our way to the table (he with a very large jacket potato with cheese and beans) so he forks up a little of the fish pops it into his mouth and says..wow that's really tasty. So another ✔️ off the things he won't eat list methinks. Spurred on by all you VERY organised ladies I have ordered my first Christmas present. I used a code from Martin Lewis to buy a very pretty bracelet from Hot Diamonds and got 40% off and free delivery. Result.
Hope we hear from Soop soon.
Nannytopsy...glad you had lots of fun with the GC and you too GrandmaB .
Sue D D3 plus 3 moved back with me twice due to boiler issues once just before their wedding when the D1 and D2 plus families were already staying . It was happy chaos. I wonder if they remember? Although it's bittersweet for me sometimes to read the posts on here about GC it does bring back lovely memories....and I haven't lost hope.
LLFL...hope your sparkle comes back soon.
Ann...my first go to now is Google for practically everything I need to know....we fixed our AEG dishwasher by Googling along with how to find features to turn off or on my phone. How did we manage beforehand?.
Brook...snap re a rummage in the middle aisle... You've reminded me I'm low on dog food so a visit is in order. ( We are 12 miles from our nearest...we have a Lidl but I'm not such a fan).
Corner... It's this time of year isn't...dark by 4. I hate it.
Yia... Fingers crossed with the new doctor.
Grandmarie...vitamin B12 injections are supposed to help I've been told.
Well I've been summoned for my annual blood pressure check tomorrow ( that's a first) and I have to take an early morning sample....now herein is the dilemma...what do they call early morning....is it the 4.30 quick visit then back to sleep or do I have to hang on ( and not sleep) until say 6 am.....Oh and that's without the fun of trying to get said sample into those ridiculously small pots they provide you with....ah well it's all part of life's rich pattern as my mum would say.
Have a good day everyone.

A quick visit from me too, wondering about soop and other folk for whom life is a bit bumpy just now.

We’ve been to a local theatre, and enjoyable gentle watch of The Mousetrap. I always take ages to settle when we’ve had a (rare) evening out. I often say I don’t go out after dark - and mean it smile.

Goodnight everyone. Medical stuff aplenty for us tomorrow so may not get in. TOYA.

Blossoming Tue 14-Nov-23 23:29:56

Just popping in to see if there’s any news from soop, Yia or Neine. I’m struggling to type legibly so will just wish everyone a good night x

brook2704 Tue 14-Nov-23 22:58:30

Thank you Catterygirl you too

Catterygirl Tue 14-Nov-23 22:38:54

Just wishing you all a good nights sleep.

Nannytopsy Tue 14-Nov-23 21:32:06

We are home after a lovely time with DGS2. He is growing up so quickly, starting to copy what we say and talking “scribble” as my dad used to say!
Waiting for news from soop

Hello
We found a very good instructional video on YouTube, unfortunately it seems that our programming panel is defunct.
At least it will only cost £60 as I just pay for call out ,all repairs are covered .

dustyangel Tue 14-Nov-23 20:39:17

Urms, a film to look out for/ catch up on.
I was thinking about your dear Mum the other day. I think we all feel as if we know each others families and I was thinking that as your stepfather is such a dear man to you, then your Mum must have been a lovely lady. smile
