We came second! Chuffed, helped by a stonking last round.
We too have Kardean in the kitchen GrannyS I think you’ll be pleased.
It’s made my evening to read your post Urms.

And a very warm welcome to the newest kitchen.

So lovely to hear from you Urms and so happy that you’ve settled back into your happy place now ❤️
I’d not thought about the clip on shades for my driving glasses Blossomimg, thanks for the tip. I’ll have to look into the other options too SueD but I’ll weigh up the costs first. I’ve only just started wearing glasses for driving and not sure what’s best yet 🤷♀️
Good to hear how well your DH is doing corner and hope your brave DiL is doing ok too
A very Happy Birthday to your DGD for tomorrow ann 🎂🥂💐
That extreme charm rendered me speechless, Maw. He just oozed sexiness. And me a married woman with four kids!
Emma Thompson still has my pen, btw. Her mother was a hoot - ‘OI, ALAN! Someone here wants to meet you!’ 😂 and Greg Wise was also rather lovely. 🤩🤩🤩
Another member of the late, lamented Alan Rickman fan club here.
D was once at a luvvies' theatre dinner thing (she's a theatre designer) and AR was schmoozing her being extremely charming.
She said she didnt have the heart to tell him he was her Mother's celebrity crush!
Good evening all.
It was a pleasure to enter the kitchen tonight and read lots of good news, so well done to all .
Long may it last.
I was going out this morning with my friend across the road just for the ride.
She was taking a dress she had bought to an alteration shop to be shortened and we thought we would have a bite to eat.
Just before pickup she rang to say the shop was closed today, did I want to go to a large M&S where there is also Tesco, Boots and Nest.
Did I ever?
I got some Christmas presents and some bits for my GD’s birthday.
She is 25 tomorrow and is having a piece of jewellery which she hasn’t chosen yet.
I also ordered a Moses basket and bedding for the GGC expected in 2 months.
We then went to Next to the in store Costa which was heaving so we came home.
I was shattered, I am constantly surprised at how little I can do now.
I am off to my bed and wish you all a very good night, sleep well.
Well, isn’t that just the best message from Urms? I am so pleased for you, and hope you have a wonderful visit. ❤️
Excellent news about MrC from Cornergran. It’s been a long haul for you but you’re getting there now!
Hope you have a good sleep, Blossoming.
We have such good taste in men, Granmarie.
I met AR once. :swoon:
That bedroom looks like the garden of Eden, LLFL! It’s gorgeous.
Good luck in the quiz, Jax. I’m taking part in an online one next week. Help!
I hope your ds improves, Yia.
Those fun days are lovely, aren’t they, GMbatty?
On the topic of driving in low sun, I have varifocals that change in the light, so they’re really useful for driving when it’s sunny. They do cost a bit but as I need the varifocals to drive, it seemed the best answer.
Today had been a bed-changing and cleaning lady visit day so the house is sparkling now. Can’t wait to get into my clean bed! I’ve found a little shop that will look at my Magimix to see if it can be mended and I also went to a fireplace shop as we’re thinking about having a fire installed in the sittingroom. It’s a boring room and I think a focal point would improve it. It’ll just be an electric fire but the modern ones are very clever and attractive, though I’d like real flames, if it was an option.
Wishing you all a quiet night. Xxxx
‘Evening All’.
We’ve been downstairs to eat at Juan’s bar - a family run place that’s been there for all the time we have - 20y. I became emotional today any time friends and neighbours greeted us, wished us well, said kind things or gave me a hug. We enjoyed a delicious meal with neighbours who have lived out here for nigh on 30y. They hail from Glasgow, are our age and a nicer, kinder couple you couldn’t wish to meet.
It did me good to see Himself laughing and chatting this evening, eating his meal slowly but steadily. He even had a small glass of beer!
We are up in the lift now, pj’s on. Bed time soon. I didn’t sleep well last night (? apprehension perhaps) but I don’t think I’ll need much rocking tonight. I’m really tired. We are an hour ahead of course here so 9:30pm is quite late for us to be honest.
TOYA. x
Hello 👋 Cornergran, great to hear that MrC enjoyed some gardening, he's making brilliant progress thanks to your TLC. I hope your DDIL is coming on too.
Good news Cornergran, what a worry it was waiting for that life altering surgery, Hope your DiL is doing okay.
Good evening dear Kitcheners. It’s been a surprisingly busy day, albeit at a slow speed with lots of breaks. Sorted the laundry, washed 2 loads now on the clothes airer as it’s been very wet here. Tidied the bedroom and discovered my missing Fybogel capsules, luckily I don’t need to take them every day! Made some parsnip and carrot soup which I just had for dinner with a couple of oatcakes, followed by a yogurt. My appetite is still very low but the reflux and hernia are under control so that’s all good. I’m pooped now so it will probably be an early night.
Glad you picked a nice hotel Nannytopsy.
Hope the new flooring goes well GrannySomerset. Restoring an original floor can be tricky so I think you’re wise to press on with your plans.
Love the rug LadyLFL, our rugs have what looks like interlining underneath, it’s not stuck to them but it just stays where you put it. Stops rolling and creeping.
Glad you’ve enjoyed your birthday Yia, hope things are slowly improving for your DS.
Sounds like a lovely day with the boys Grandmabatty, enjoy the chicken.
MrB has some clip on shades to go on his glasses for driving Brook, less expensive than separate prescription sunglasses.
Hope the quiz goes well Jaxjacky.
Thanks Grannmarie, hope all is well with you.
For Urmstongran
hope your both having a fabulous time.
Have a peaceful evening and a restful night all.
Hello everyone.
Some good news to share. Heading out into the garden yesterday I pottered and tidied while Mr C took a fork to a very overgrown area. Half an hour later it was clear and Mr C was beaming. Have to admit I watched on anxiously, no need as he felt fine, in fact far better than I did after much less exertion. How unfair is that? It wasn’t so risky in reality as the cardiac nurse he spoke to recently said that amount of exertion was not only. permitted but encouraged. No stopping him now.
.
We recently had Karndean fitted in our hall and kitchen GrannyS. Delighted with it, I’m sure you’ll love yours when the upheaval is over.
Sleep still a bit elusive for me, I’m just waiting it out, it will pass. Always does. It’s a fibro thing.
Hope you’re heading for a win at the quiz jax.
Tomorrow we’re off to see our Wonder Woman daughter in law, probably won’t have time to pop in. TOYA.
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.🥰
I hope all is well with the Soops, Nannytopsy is enjoying her hotel break and the Urms' are soaking up the sunshine ☀.
Another Alan Rickman 💙 fan here, SueD! Enjoy your catch up with your friends tomorrow.
Blossoming, I bought cards for December birthdays today. DH says birthdays near C*******s should not be allowed! I'm glad your poor hand is getting better now.
GrannySomerset, the Karndean flooring sounds like a good decision, it'll be lovely when it's all finished.
Cool rug, Ladyleftfieldlover! I was going to suggest that you placed some heavy books on the four corners to flatten them out, but then I read that you've taken your books to the charity shop!🤣 📚
Sounds like a great day with your wee boys, Grandmabatty, it does your heart ♥ good.
YiaYia, sounds like nice celebrations for your birthday and anniversary. Not long until you see your DS again, I'm sure his visit to you will have done him good.
Brook, I depend on my sunglasses 😎 for driving up to church in the mornings, when the low winter sun turns everything monochrome...it's visor down and sunglasses on!
Jaxjacky, enjoy your quiz night after your busy day, good luck! I enjoy the Monday evening TV quizzes. 📺
TOYA.
Thanks brook I’ve revised Nov 5th as we had Halloween last week, probably won’t be any questions!
Good luck in the quiz Jax! 🤞
A very hectic day on the voluntary phones, nowhere near my steps done today! Mr J has the mash on, Turkey sausages and beans, then quiz.
Grandmabatty today sounds a delight for you, no frustration from anyone.
How annoying llfl I can’t help with your pretty rug edges, we don’t have any.
Happy Anniversary Yia I hope you’ve had a good weekend.
Urms has her ladies lunch tomorrow, may she and himself be enjoying their break.
Off to do something useful like mug up for quiz!
Love the pink flamingos on the rug llfl, hopefully the edges will gradually uncurl themselves over the next few days
It’s been cold and sunny here all day, I enjoyed the Zumba class at the gym and chatting to the other ladies and then gardening this afternoon. I think I’ll need to get some driving sunglasses, I’ve only just started wearing distance glasses for driving but with the sun being so low in the sky I needed my sunglasses too
Yia hope things are starting to improve a bit for your DS
Good evening Kitcheners. Ladyleftfieldlover I love a good clear out! Your rug is lovely too. Grannysomerset that's sounds very practical. Jaxjacky your dinner from yesterday sounds really tasty.
Today has been a lovely day. Dgs2 and I have played inside and walked to the motorway to wave at lorries. He's been a very good boy today. Slowly his speech is coming. Dgs1 has been a wee star too. I've dropped them off and my chicken casserole is in the oven. A little tidying in the kitchen is needed, but it can wait til after dinner. Have a good evening Kitcheners
Hello again. Yes, I do hope the Urms are having a wonderful time in their special place.
I tried to have an emergency fringe trim today but the salon was shut. The trainees were taking exams. I also had a job taking books to various charity shops. The Cancer shop took them in the end. It’s hard work carrying heavy books around!
OH has been cleaning his bee hives this afternoon. He said they’re covered in bee glue!
Have a good evening.
Thank you all for your birthday wishes. We had nice meal with the family on Saturday.Today we went to our new local for a light lunch for our anniversary. It’s a 5 minute walk from us and a lovely coaching inn.
D.S went home yesterday reluctantly!he doesn’t want to worry his GF but she needs to help him as we all do.He’s back at work today and we will be going up on Thursday for the weekend so hoping for a bit of improvement.
Love the rug LLFL.Hope Urms and Himself are having a lovely time.
Enjoy your evening everyone.
Thinking of the Urmses waking up in the sunshine and hoping the journey was not too shattering and that they have a lovely time. Floor layer is here and we have discovered a perfectly good wooden floor under the carpet which, with some effort, could look good. However, am going with the non-slip wood effect Karndean which has been ordered and paid for, leaving rescuing the original floor to some future owner. Will be confined to barracks for the next few days in order to “supervise”.
Good evening from Kent. Lovely hotel, had a swim before dinner and now in bed.
NNGB
Hi all, I hope the Urms are now if not in their happy place, then nearly.
I’m also thinking of Yia birthday and anniversary celebrations going well I hope and that your son is coping.
Sunshine today, I got out for a walk, the wind had a nip to it, but it was very pleasant, pretty coloured leaves on and off the trees.
No luck in the pub meat draw, but tbh our small chest freezer is choca, I’m restricting my meat and other freezable food in my weekly order until inroads have been made.
We ate bbq pork steaks, new potatoes, broccoli and carrots, it was lush.
Sleep well all.
Good evening dear Kitcheners. Another lazy day of reading, a bit of admin, sorting out the next month’s meds and starting to think about Christmas (sorry soop). Still got a few birthdays before then so will make sure cards for those are ready to send off. We had a lamb curry and rice for dinner, I’ve had a lovely warm shower and now ready for bed in my nightie and big fluffy bed socks
Glad MrSoop enjoyed his birthday and you’ve had a lovely walk today Soop.
Brook I like to keep as far away as possible from fireworks! Indoors behind double glazing and thick heavy blackout curtains suits me fine.
Hope you’re well on your way to Malaga Urms, have a wonderful time x
I’ve no idea how long it broken hand takes to knit, it feels quite good now but I’m resisting the temptation to start using it too much.
Have a peaceful evening, the flashes and bangs seem to have died down here now.
What a lovely photo of Mr Soop!
Eau d’onion, Jax 🤣
That’s a wonderful spooky tea table, Maw. 👻 I love Montacute, one of my favourite NT houses. Nothing to do with Alan Rickman in Sense and Sensibility, of course.
Happy birthday, Yia.
Brook, Granmarie* and others - the garden work never stops, does it?? Always something needs doing.
Your meal sounds a delight, Annsixty.
I hope you’re settled into you Happy Place now, Urms! Enjoy your well-deserved break.
It seems as though there are lots of nice dinners being eaten tonight. Winter is upon us to go by the GN menus. 😁
Thank you for the thoughts re my DS. You’re all so kind. ❤️ I keep Baggs in my thoughts also. Xx
Yesterday we attended the pre-fireworks party at my DD’s and it was very nice, though manic with what seemed like one hundred small children hurtling round their house! The fireworks were good, low noise (I don’t think you’d really have heard them indoors except as a vague pop or bang) but colourful. We got home about nine and then I slept like a log all night.
The car valet man didn’t show up today so we wasted the day waiting in. 🤷♀️ He’s coming on Thursday now. Never mind, it was good not rushing off anywhere. I didn’t do anything in the garden as I’m out of compost and the containers I ordered haven’t arrived. I’ve booked a hotel for Tuesday, when I’m going back to my old ‘manor’ and seeing friends.
That’s all for tonight, take care everyone. TOYA. Xxx
