That sounds hopeful soop. Pleased you enjoyed your family day.

Stunned this morning. Our Patient Participation Group sell second hand books and jigsaws in the surgery one morning a week. We try to raise money for the surgery to make specific purchases. Male patient handed over £10 this morning. No he didn’t want any books or a jigsaw, just to support our efforts. Wow. We did well today. With his support we made £20. Some weeks it’s only 50p!

Had a visit with the granddaughter superstar today. She’s off on Sunday, 90 miles away for the next week, for the specialised work experience she wanted. Is it wrong to be pleased her insurance won’t be active on Sunday? Her Dad is chauffeur. Much less blood pressure raising.

Congratulations to your grandson gillgran. It’s a huge achievement for the teenagers

Your GP search sounds painful yia. Worth asking nejghbours for first hand experiences?

My grandmother grew up with horses and traps for transport. She never went in a motor vehicle, terrified of them. Also scared of electricity having spent a good bit of her life with gas lights. She would sit in the dark until my uncle got home to turn the light on. A different world for sure.

Hope tomorrow feels lighter ann.

It’s miserable here today, grey and wet. Our sons village is flooded, he’s relieved he drives a high vehicle and his home is dry - so far. Some dreadful floods further north. I feel so sorry for anyone flooded.

Best be off. There’s a gentle smell of almost burning coming from the oven.

My love and very best wishes to you all. flowers

Sounds like a positive meeting Soop, hoping something good comes of it. Your niece sounds like an amazing lady.

Glad you’re feeling a bit better Yia, good luck with finding a GP.

Pleased you arrived safely SueD now enjoy.

Great news for you Corner. Proud Gran.

Love the colour LLFL.

Your little boys are such cuties Grandmabatty.

Your new surgeon sounds promising Soop.

Now day 6 of covid and starting to feel a bit better, hopefully improving everyday just the annoying dry cough to contend with. Still trying to sort out a new GP.The three surgeries that we can register with have all got terrible reviews very difficult to choice the best of a bad bunch!! I’m emailing a few just out of the boundary to see if they will take us even though our old one won’t.It seems it’s up to the individual Surgeries!
Take care Annsixty

Thinking of you Urms 💐

Have a pleasant afternoon Kitcheners, keep safe from the storm.

soop Fri 20-Oct-23 13:12:29

Have just returned from appointment with surgeon (who lives in Orkney) and travelled to Campbeltown yesterday. Such a nice man. He's arranging for me to have scan and Xray of hernia in Oban. He will then be in a better position to discuss options.

We had a lovely day with Mr Soop's niece from Australia. She is doing a grand tour together with her best friend. Sixteen countries already visited and photographed. Now in Edinburgh before motoring down into England to visit other relatives and friends. Amazing lady! An experience to remember for the rest of her life.

Preparing to make a happy 60th birthday video for middle son. I shall do my best to return later this afternoon. x

Blossoming Fri 20-Oct-23 12:32:03

AnnSixty looking at some family history stuff yesterday it struck me that my grandparents really were born into a very different world. Mind you, so was I! I will be listening to my book and generally pottering about, it’s awful weather here.

I’m feeling much better Gillgran thank you. Congratulations to your grandson.

gillgran Fri 20-Oct-23 11:32:56

Hello all, it's extremely wet here in N.Cambs., our garden is partly flooded, but at least our house is dry!

Pleased that your granddaughter passed her driving test, cornergran.
Our DGS did the same on Monday, he's delighted! He should have taken it last Thursday morning, but late on Wednesday he got a text to say it was cancelled & he had to re-book! so a frantic scramble on-line to do that!
Granny here is pleased he's passed, (but just between you & I, I'm worried about him loose on the roads!!). wink.

Thinking of you, annsixty, keep on, "plodding on". flowers

I hope you are feeling a bit better Blossoming, & warm thoughts for you all, especially those who are below par & who have added worries. x

annsixty Fri 20-Oct-23 09:22:25

Good morning all from a very soggy Stockport.
It rained all night and I was awake for most of it so feeling “bleugh” this morning.
I have not had the best of weeks really but must plod on .
Today is the Anniversary of my mother’s birth, 119 years ago.
The length of time seems frightening.
I am feeling very introspective today, must find something cheery to do, but what, I ask myself?
Have the best day you cam everyone and kindest thoughts to poorlies and their carers and pleased to read happy news from some of you.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 20-Oct-23 08:50:25

That’s wonderful news Corner. The day I passed my driving test was one of the best days of my life.

cornergran Thu 19-Oct-23 23:25:25

Hello everyone. Good news to share . Our granddaughter passed her driving test. We’re very proud of her, with so much stress in her life at the moment we were afraid she’d not be able to show what a super driver she is.

Mr C managed to fix last nights leak from the stop tap, phew, no need for the plumber to make two visits in a week. While the ‘stuff’ - all useful you understand - was out from the cupboard I thought I’d have a sort out. Oh dear, why on earth did we buy some if it? A trip out this afternoon saw some storage trays coming home with us. The much weeded contents of the cupboard are now organised and easier to reach. How long will that last? I give it to lunch time tomorrow as Mr C is home alone in the morning grin.

Another tiring day for you grandmab. You truly are a child care star.

Alls well on the daughter in law front Charley, our son is watching her like a hawk. The little lad has play dates arranged for every day next week so his mum will get all the rest she needs. Mr C is much better today . We hope to visit next week.

Don’t rush things blossoming, sometimes the tortoise beats the hare smile. Glorious colour * ladylfl*. A hug coming your way urms. It’s more than ok ti just be as you are.

Best be off, my eyes are closing. Doing my volunteer stint tomorrow, they’d not want me falling asleep . TOYA.

Charleygirl5 Thu 19-Oct-23 22:25:59

corner I hope your dil has not been discharged too soon. No doubt the hospital would have needed the HDU bed. At least she has help for a few days and she can rest. I believe it is half term soon so that may be a problem with her little boy being at home.

Try not to allow Mr C to share his cold.
TOYA

brook2704 Thu 19-Oct-23 22:15:36

Oh thanks Blossoming, I meant to ask about corners DGD too, I hope she passed her driving test!
Ps toast and jam is just the best!

Blossoming Thu 19-Oct-23 21:20:15

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It’s been warm and cloudy here after last night’s noisy storm. MrB has collected my big prescription, I have put away yesterday’s laundry and washed another load. The dehumidifier is doing a great job. I’m feeling pretty good, the hiatal hernia is behaving and no GERD attacks all day. Trying to up my activity without overdoing things. My appetite for disappeared, MrB made me toast and jam at teatime. I feel like such a baby!

Glad you’ve arrived safely SueDomin, have a great time.

I love your style LadyLFL

Urms a big hug coming your way ❤️

I hope Corner’s GD has passed her driving test.

Goodnight all, I’m so sleepy now.

mrshat Thu 19-Oct-23 20:54:39

LFL - WOW! Looks fab!
Urms Hang on in there - you are both doing really well xx

Jaxjacky Thu 19-Oct-23 19:53:04

A random ‘without’ appeared in my post, sorry.

brook2704 Thu 19-Oct-23 19:14:54

Urms 💐
Lovely pictures grandmabatty, well done with keeping two energetic little boys occupied in this weather.
We’ve missed the worst of the storm here, just windy and rainy but DD2 is still on holiday in Perthshire and in the thick of it. I messaged earlier and they were all having a day in today playing games - very sensible
We popped out to look at a few things in the bathroom showrooms but disappointingly there was very little to actually see, just got more brochures to trawl through 🤦‍♀️ .. I could do with your artistic flair llfl to help me decide on colour schemes etc. I always gravitate to safe neutrals but wish I was more adventurous- your study/bedroom is gorgeous
Pleased you’ve arrived safely SueD hope you’ve managed a bit of a rest
You’re Dil really is Wonder Woman corner - hope she’s getting lots of tlc x

Jaxjacky Thu 19-Oct-23 19:00:41

I hope your stepfather has a successful appointment Urms and without emotional times are very much allowed x
In and out today, collected a free book, gave my son a lift, got milk for friends returning from a months holiday overnight and sorted their post.
Then I took a friend through using the NHS App to order prescriptions.
MrJ is at bowls, so a quiet evening.
Love the colour llfl wouldn’t suit our minimalism, but it will your house, you definitely have the ‘eye’.
I’ll be out again SueD doing my ‘doors to manual’ for your return 🙂.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 19-Oct-23 18:02:32

Oh Urms. Life can be such a b***h.💐

Urmstongran Thu 19-Oct-23 17:59:56

‘Evening All’.

I went by bus to see my stepfather this afternoon as the sun came out for a while. I took him some shopping. He has been sent an appointment letter to see a renal specialist next month. He takes it all in his stride. I will go with him of course.

When I got home I popped into the independent pharmacy on the next block to us and had my Covid and ‘flu jabs.

I feel a bit emotional this evening. It will pass.
x

Grandmabatty Thu 19-Oct-23 17:49:03

Ladyleftfieldlover I love the colour! It's so rich. Cornergran that's good news indeed about your dil. As long as she doesn't overdo things. Suedonim I'm glad you arrived safely.
Boys have been deposited home. I'm about to visit mum and then much collapsing on the couch ahead. Today was an awful day, weatherwise. We did attempt to splash in puddles but dgs1 is not a fan of winds and dgs2 isn't a big fan of splashing so we weren't out for too long. They played in the garden for a little while. The neighbours must have thought we were mad. Then it was clothes off, heating on and dried. Later on this afternoon, they both had a mad hour where they rampaged about getting up yo nonsense. I call it the 'crazy eye time' just like puppies race about. My aunt has just called from Turkey where they are having warm days. Have a good evening Kitcheners.
Ps. I may have some wine tonight!

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 19-Oct-23 15:48:30

The study/bedroom so far! The decorators are finishing off tomorrow. We can then put everything back…

cornergran Thu 19-Oct-23 08:56:06

Oh heck sued. Hoping a smoother journey is underway. You must be beyond tired.

Good to hear from you neine.

A plea to everyone. Please stay upright! Falling is not good.

Hope the hospital appointment is helpful soop. You’re a marvel grandmab, so much energy, please don’t exhaust yourself though.

Surprising news from cornerland. After achieving stable ops and passing the usual mobility tests our daughter in law opted for discharge - immediately. She arrived home yesterday evening 5 days post op rather than the 14 they had planned for. We were stunned, delighted for her, then worried in case too soon. Our son is home for the next 10:days and will ensure rest. Once Mr C’s cold has disappeared we’ll go for a short visit. It will be so good to see our family Wonder Woman.

Our older granddaughter is taking her driving test - now. We’ve got everything crossed but she’s so stressed by family and school issues we fear she may be too anxious to drive as capably as she can. Of course failure isn’t the end of the world but it would seem so to her.

Best be off. Really should begin the day. TOYA

annsixty Thu 19-Oct-23 07:11:48

You will be so relieved SueD what a journey.
Try to catch up on your sleep and then make every minute of your holiday count.
Enjoy.

SueDonim Thu 19-Oct-23 06:36:44

Just checking in to say I’ve arrived, after a 25hr journey! I think I saw you waving, Jax - that was you in the garden, wasn’t it?

It’s 1:30am here so am hoping for some shut eye, though I feel strangely wired.

Take care all.
