Ah, Neine, losing a pet is so painful. You’re allowed to be sad. flowers He looks such a fun boy, all his legs off the ground there! ❤️

For every high there has to be a low and so it has been this week. I have been busy with work again...travelling 200 miles a day. DOH had been at home not feeling too well and I'm glad he was as on Thursday we took Darling dog 1 to the vet to get him checked as we thought he'd bumped himself playing with the others. He seemed to be breathing quite heavily but still eating and drinking and alert. The vet could hear a slight dullness on one side of his lung so decided on an X ray which showed fluid....it was blood and despite her seeking advice from all the other vets in the hope that it was something treatable it wasn't to be and we had to make the hardest decision to let him go across the rainbow bridge as they say. I sat on the floor with him and sobbed as he closed his eyes for the last time. The vet was crying too. He was the most beautiful boy and with me at my saddest and lonliest times and I so wanted him to share my happiness for many years you come. We are heading to New Milton today for a 70th birthday.. I look like a hag ..my face and eyes are puffy from crying and neither of us feels in the slightest bit like partying but our friend has booked our BnB and is excited about seeing us. In contrast to family sadness in the kitchen and the wars in the Middle East and Ukraine this pales into insignificance but it still hurts just now.

Morning all! We are heading to the coast today, to make the most of this cold but beautiful weather, before the sleet/rain arrives tomorrow. Well, that’s the plan, except that it’s grey and foggy at the moment …
Sorry to hear that you didn’t get the news you wanted soop - such a disappointment.
There are lot of Kitcheners putting up their decorations but it will be at least 2 weeks here. Real Christmas trees don’t do well with underfloor heating, so we don’t put it up early.
Keep warm everyone and enjoy the day.

Grannmarie Fri 01-Dec-23 23:26:03

Sorry, SueD, I thought the wedding was today! 😳 Have a fabulous time tomorrow, I 😍 your glittery nails!

Brook, enjoy the rest of your weekend and your DD's birthday, many happy returns to her.

brook2704 Fri 01-Dec-23 23:09:47

Wow SueD I’m just a little bit jealous- they look so lovely !
Well done with the driving all the way to London and have a fabulous time tomorrow! 💐

SueDonim Fri 01-Dec-23 23:02:01

Just hurtling into the Kitchen to wish you all a good weekend! I drove most of the way to London, where we’re now ensconced in a very nice hotel in the City. Spent the evening with my darling girls and now it’s time to go to sleep before tomorrow’s wedding. We’re all very excited!

I’m attaching a photo of glittery nails for Brook!

brook2704 Fri 01-Dec-23 22:52:10

It’s been a busy day here so I’m pleased to come into the peace of the kitchen for a little while
Not the best news soop but I hope that whatever the next consultant says you’re not in too much discomfort and you can manage ok 💐
We’ve had much excitement here today, the Christmas fayre at school, a local Christmas market and a really lovely cold crisp wintry walk to Granchester this morning. The frost was so thick it looked like snow and with the sun shining it was sparkling.
Thank you all for your kind wishes, DGS had a lovely birthday and it’s DDs birthday on Sunday too. So we’re still staying here over the weekend and then travelling back home on Monday.
Goodness me grannmarie and grandmabatty you’ve both been busy! We’ll done I’ll have some catching up to do when I get home
Urms take care, thinking of you 💐

Grannmarie Fri 01-Dec-23 20:41:07

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Fingers crossed for better news in the New Year, Soop. I hope Mr Soop's poor head is mending.

I hope Brook and DH are having a wonderful family catch up in Cambridge, happy birthday to DGS.

SueD should be enjoying herself at the wedding now, have a wonderful time.

Thinking of Blossoming, Urms, Baggs and anyone with worries, illness or sorrow.
💕🙏

YiaYia, I'm delighted to hear that your DS is feeling brighter, 🔆 such good news for you. Great that you will see him soon. 💙
Grandmabatty, I'm sorry to read about 'Doorgate', are they coming back soon to replace it? Best laid plans....

A good night's sleep is wished for Cornergran and Annsixty, and any other Grans experiencing disturbed sleep. 😴 😴

It's been bitterly cold in Lanarkshire, frosty, foggy and minus 2 at 9am, I'm glad of my thermals! It's been a busy week, covid/ flu jags, Coffee Morning, meet ups with two good friends, and a start made on Christmas cleaning and decorating. Today I washed the front and back doors and inside of downstairs windows. Then I hung the door wreaths, replaced living room throws and cushions with red/ festive ones, and put out Christmas mugs, coaters, placemats and trays in kitchen. Tomorrow, DH will make a start on wrapping the gifts we've bought so far, that's his job cos he's good at it and he can do it sitting at the table. I will decorate the window ledges and the fireplace. The tree will wait. We're trying to pace ourselves!!

Parish Christmas Fayre tomorrow, DSis 1 and I helped setting up stalls and tables in the hall after morning Mass. DSis 2 has a stall for her Brownies' and Rainbows' 🌈 crafts.

Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend, keep cosy and warm! TOYA NNGB

Good evening Kitcheners. Soop that's such a buggeration for you. Urmston 💐.
I have had my feet done for Christmas by my lovely chiropodist. Dd and dgs2 popped in with cake this morning. Always welcome, her and cake. I got all the washings done, stripped the bed and changed all the bedding. Then tonight we all went to the village light switch on. It was very busy and bright and lovely. It was also freezing! I had intended to have a fish supper but the queue was outside the door and really long, so I said goodbye and walked home for beans and toast. As you say Urms all food is good food. I'm having a quiet night watching telly and having a glass of two of wine. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Urmstongran Fri 01-Dec-23 19:02:37

‘Evening All’.

We are warm and cosy in bed. Sat up, reading. Reminds me of Morecambe and Wise. Himself has just eaten sardines on toast and really enjoyed them. I always think of our lovely family GP years ago when my dad had cancer and he used to say to my mum “all food is good food - even the humble sardine”.

I’m feeling a bit emotional tonight and need to Get a Grip.

Keep cosy lovely kitcheners.

Jaxjacky Fri 01-Dec-23 18:35:37

Hi all from very cold Hampshire, even the pub was chilly just now, it’s an old place and tricky to heat.
Farm shop today, including shopping for a friend who can’t drive at the moment, then Christmas jumper dropped off for my son’s partner who’d forgotten she needed one for tonight.
Tesco delivered earlier today, so the fridge is full, an easy dinner of oven fish and chips.
Not the news you wanted soop, but a glimmer of hope.
No decorations up, but my first advent calendar window has a robin in snow, appropriate!
Enjoy your evenings.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 01-Dec-23 18:16:33

Gosh Soop, I hope you get good news in 2024.
The WI coffee morning was fun. We went to a garden centre about half an hour away. The lady I drove bought me the most enormous and delicious chocolate éclair absolutely bursting with whipped cream. When I got home I made a chocolate loaf which will be turned into a log. It was a new recipe with melted chocolate, cocoa and chocolate drops.
It’s OH’s turn to cook so we’re having fish fingers, chips and peas.
Have a good evening everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 01-Dec-23 17:39:34

Oh dear soop take it easy.

All my decorations are up apart from two real trees, hopefully next weekend for them.

We are off out now to a local Malaysian restaurant, wishing you a peaceful beginning to December.

🎄🤶

GrannySomerset Fri 01-Dec-23 16:53:35

I salute your courage, Soop and hope for a positive outcome in the new year.

soop Fri 01-Dec-23 16:49:07

Late afternoon greetings to you lovely lot.

The consultant was a lovely, kind gentleman. He said that there are two large loops of large bowel surrounding the stoma. Any surgery would be serious and I may not recover from the trauma. To be sure, he's referring me to a Glasgow surgeon for his opinion. The repair would involve final repair with a new mesh - not the one that has been the cause of so much distress for countless patients - this new mesh costs, wait for it, £25,000. Mr Soop and I were speechless.. So, we will make the trip to Glasgow in the new year. In the meantime, we, like many of our Granspals, soldier on and count our blessings.

I shall raise a glass of delicious red wine to tou all at the bewithing hour. smile moon

cornergran Fri 01-Dec-23 04:58:46

Everything crossed here for your consultant appointment. soop. Also hope the menace that is fibro eases off very soon flowers.

annsixty Thu 30-Nov-23 22:42:51

Roses
My friends wife said exactly the same, that he looked very pregnant.
He could only wear jogging trousers for comfort which were suspended under his hernia.
A price to be psid for a successful op, but not the best.

Scapa1 Thu 30-Nov-23 21:43:00

Hope that you get positive news tomorrow Soop. It has been cold here in Central Scotland but no snow so far. Quiet day today but Xmas cards now all written at least I hope they are I usually miss someone! Maybe some Christmas shopping tomorrow still waiting for some ideas to be thrown my way. Hope Blossoming is doing okay. Night all.

RosiesMaw Thu 30-Nov-23 20:10:41

commiserations again, my friend who developed a huge hernia after bowel cancer surgery had to cope with it after the surgeon said it was too close to the original surgery

This was (one of) Paw’s problem (s), the risk of infection from hernia surgery was considered much too great.
He wore a belt latterly to support it (and support his back) but it was one buggeration too many and coping with the logistics of trousers (braces) and especially having to have suits made for our daughters’ weddings not easy -a waistcoat helped to disguise it but of course standing was even more tiring. He looked about 7 months pregnant. Glad he was alive though and the lymphoma cured.
Sincere sympathy . flowers

annsixty Thu 30-Nov-23 19:00:14

Jaxjacky you have reminded me that I must get my Advent calendar out, it is still in the cardboard box.
Good evening all.
A bitterly cold here as it probably has been for most of you.
I have not poked my nose out today, just hunkered down in the warmth.
Little done really.
Soop commiserations again, my friend who developed a huge hernia after bowel cancer surgery had to cope with it after the surgeon said it was too close to the original surgery, I hope that isn’t so in your case.
I hope it is good in Cambridge and that brook is enjoying.
Also those of you with worries and illness, sorry I just don’t remember everyone, are doing okay and that things will improve.
Early to bed for me after a poor sleep last night.
It is becoming routine.
Have the best evening you can everyone.

Jaxjacky Thu 30-Nov-23 18:27:35

It is blooming freezing Grandmabatty I gave myself a swift kick up the btm before I ventured out for a quick walk, sleet/snow all day.
Not much done really today, made a cottage pie for dinner, fished out an old address book for Christmas card information and fiddled with Tesco delivery lists.
My advent calendar is poised for tomorrow.
Enjoy your evening all.

Grandmabatty Thu 30-Nov-23 17:56:11

Good evening Kitcheners. It's so cold! Moan over. Once Tesco deliver, I'll be in my jammies. Soop it's a buggeration for you. I have flowers for Yiayia, Blossoming, Urmston, Soop and Grannygravy. I hope Brook and Suedonim are having a lovely time.
I was out for lunch with art friends today and had a lovely Italian meal. Spaghetti Puttanesca. I've just had a bowl of soup to warm myself up and I'm waiting for Tesco. Two very nice, sociable days. Take care all

Yiayia4 Thu 30-Nov-23 16:56:41

Enjoy your weekend *SueD.
I also hope your O.K Blossoming.🌹

Urms yes you did say DS would improve, bless you.
I’ve spent the afternoon applying for a blue badge something I never wanted to do still don’t but needs must.☹️
It’s been very cold in Surrey with a few snow flurries. No sightings of our deer I hope he brings his friends to visit soon.
Have a pleasant evening Kitcheners keep warm.

soop Thu 30-Nov-23 16:53:02

GrannyGravy A gentle hug from me to you. flowers

I continue to feel lousy. Just another blip. hmm Mr Soop thanks his ladies for your good wishes. His head is still a mess but, he's not in any discomfort.

Tomorrow I see the surgeon with reference to the results of the hernia scan. Bloody thing is enormous. I've a feeling that he'll recommend not having further surgery. I shall report back to you when I return home.

My love and best wishes to all our Kitcheners. You are super special peoples (as our grandson used to say). smile moon

Jaxjacky Thu 30-Nov-23 10:31:53

Hope the party went well brook
