A very warm welcome Fairycakes and Septimia
Thank you, [Soop]
Hi all, bugrit corner I hope it’s fleeting and you remain ‘capable’.
Enjoy your meal out ann.
It is cold here too soop way down south, but the frost was very pretty and I had a pleasant walk in the sunshine, then ploughed through the paper.
Dr Who for us too Grandmabatty then I’m not sure, at some point we’ll eat.
Enjoy your evening all.
Rotten luck Cornergran. I hope it passes quickly. All my best. Enjoy your meal Annsixty. Soop you are obviously a trusted and caring friend that she felt able to open up to you.
Lots of pottering here today. I have a few more Christmas presents bought. Another pot of lentil soup made, thinking of you Grannmarie and tonight's dinner is roasted salmon and vegetables, thinking of you Brook!
Then Dr Who followed by Strictly. Have a good evening Kitcheners
Quick whizz in. We are both hosting covid now. Lucky souls are we. I’m nowhere near as poorly as Mr C who loses his strength now and again and needs hoisting up. I can keep us fed and watered, phew. There are several willing volunteers for any grocery shopping we may need. Lovely neighbours here
🤞 it will be on its way quickly. Thank goodness we’re up to date with our jabs. It could be so much worse. So far our Wonder Woman remains covid free. Hooray.
Enjoy your meal ann. Good luck with the surgeon *soop
Thank you all for the kind thoughts. TOYA.
I am just getting ready to go to a local Beefeater with my friend.
It is not my favourite place to eat but she likes it and it is cheap and cheerful.
I also have 50% off main courses so can’t be bad!!
Have the best evening you can, it is very cold here.
Baggs Simple pleasures come in many guises. Thank you for your observations.
corner Us lot will be here to welcome you back just as soon as you feel the time is right. I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through a very tough time.
We spent time with a dear friend yesterday. Her husband died six months ago. Such a dear, kind, good humoured gentleman. After talking about this and that, our friend suddenly opened up and expressed so much sadness that she had been "holding in". We stayed for some time. When we left, she said how grateful she was for having the opportunity to share her distress and that she felt as if a burden had been lifted.
I have an appointment on Friday with the surgeon who will discuss the result of the hernia scan.
It is bitterly cold. We have had a day of sunshine. Mr Soop has been attending an AGM in the village. I have pottered.
Tonight at the appropriate hour, I shall raise a glass of cheer to each and every one of my dear Granspals.

Sincere sympathy for Corner I hope you have some support and that you manage to stay clear of this wretched illness. Healing vibes to you both
I think I could have told you about the Chanel queues, LLFL ! Actually although not members we had timed tickets which meant a very short wait and once you got into the exhibition it was pleasantly uncrowded. And worth it!
I didn’t have time to do “Diva” as well, but like you spent an enjoyable and profitable time in the shop.
Kind thoughts to you all, sleep well
corner that is awful, I hope Mr C is slowly feeling better and hopefully your DiL does not catch Covid. Please look after yourself.
Ann that must have been an awful shock. Good for your friend as she would not have known a thing. We do not know what is around the corner.
TOYA
No snow for us in the forecast yet Jax but there’s snow on the hills 🥶 ⛄️
Hello kitchen people. I’m still in Kew in my son’s freezing cold flat! He’s away all week but his partner had popped out for the evening before I could ask her where the heating mechanism is! My granddaughter doesn’t mind the cold and neither do I usually!
I went to the V&A today. One of my favourite places. The Diva exhibition is amazing. There was a queue for the Chanel exhibition, even for members
I wasn’t too worried as I have never been that keen on her clothes.
I managed to buy some interesting Christmas presents in the V&A shop. They have some beautiful things.
I’m off to meet younger son tomorrow. Lunch and the Queen’s Gallery for the Holbein exhibition. Then home.
You can only do so much corner without running yourself into the ground, I hope Mrc recovers quickly and maybe gets a cancellation appointment.
A shame you haven’t been out on your scooter annk I’m sorry about your friend.
Well, MrJ’s car broke down on his way back from bowls last night, recovered by Green Flag after three hours. He was cold, good job it wasn’t tonight, head have frozen.
The dripping tap should be fixed tomorrow, then MrJ’s iPad decided to play up for a couple of hours earlier, but now sorted, that’s the 3 things.
We’ve been to the local, warm in there, but very cold on the way home.
Memories Baggs dust motes in the sun are like a little universe.
Are you expecting snow brook?
Off to eat dinner now, enjoy your evening all.
Baggs ❤️💐
You’re so right Septima, you’re always safe in soops friendly kitchen ❤️
A very warm welcome Fairycakes good to see you settled down in front of the fire keeping warm
Corner such a worry, hoping Mr C is soon on the mend and your brave Dil is ok, don’t forget to look after yourself too
Such a shock for your friend ann, so sad and sudden 💐
It’s been a funny old day here, the gym this morning was ok but my usual pal wasn’t there and I just couldn’t get enthusiastic about anything . Then a trip to Tesco which was heaving, I couldn’t get home quick enough!
I’ve been spending too much time online, mainly browsing the Black Friday deals looking for bargains. Not much of a deal on things that I liked so I’ve come over to GN instead 😀 I’m going to settle down in front of the tv soon and enjoy the evening
Just dropped in to enjoy some kind and pleasant posts after reading some of the political griping on other threads. Thank goodness for Soop's kitchen!
Take care, everyone.
Hi, everyone, this is my first visit to the kitchen, and what a warm and cosy place it is. I'll just draw a chair up to the kitchen hearth and sit down beside the fire. Is that the kettle I hear whistling?
.
The temperature is dropping here in the south east. I've spent the day indoors, cleaning out a cupboard under the stairs, which has not been touched in years. Quite a lot of dust in there. It took all day. Who'd believe it would take so long to clean out a cupboard
Thinking of you both Cornergran.🌹🤞
Simple pleasures, once taken so very much for granted, now take on a whole new resonance
BTDD is like you in this respect, Urms. I sent a video of dust falling after I'd been at some cobwebs with a long feather duster. I said "problem with dusting cobwebs". She said "Beautiful magical snow dust" and Minibaggs, agreeing, added that she'd always loved watching floating dust in sunbeams when she was a child.
So, thank you, spiders! 😂
for cornergran and 🤞.
Our little chap has been a bit off this week and awake a lot at night. This morning he has 4 new molars - that’ll be why!
Christmas pudding is made and waiting to be steamed. I just need to get the string on it …
Have a good evening everyone.
Cornergran my heart goes out to the both of you. Your worry is palpable. Fingers crossed that neither you nor your daughter in law succumbs to covid.
Good morning all.
I have not been awake long, how slatternly, for the last three nights I have taken a antihistamine with my night time cuppa.
Dear reader it works, at least for me.
I had developed a dreadful sleeping pattern, awake most of the night and dozing during the day.
The only bad side is that when I do wake up I feel like a zombie for a short time.
I posted just to send kind healing thoughts to Cornergran you must be very worried about your DH and also your poor friend.
I’m afraid it is par for the course as we get older, our friends are ageing at the same rate.
My friend I see regularly for a takeaway had an awful shock on Monday when one of her other very good friends was found dead in her bed , no illness or feeling unwell, only tired and stressed after a couple of weeks visiting her very aged mother in respite care after a fall.
Mum is usually fine and still living on her own until this fall.
The friend was only early 70’s.
It made me very aware of my own mortality.
However I persuaded my friend to go out for a meal with me tomorrow evening which will do us both good.
It is a lovely day here and if I wasn’t waiting in for Sainsbury’s delivery I might have been tempted to go to the park on my scooter.
I haven’t used it for ages since I had the encounter with the scary man.
I wish you all the best day you can manage and chins up to the coppers and the unwell.
soop, I always read but rarely post on here. I have the 'tickly face in bed' thing too, so thought I would give you my theory. I have put it down to an allergy to toothpaste (Sensodyne), and have found that a thorough wash after brushing lessens it.
Covid. When will it let go?
Just the right sort of evening urms. You’re right about simple pleasures.
I’ve had an unsettled day. After being full of beans yesterday evening Mr C woke sneezing constantly. We thought nothing of it, other than where did I put the anti histamine. I disappeared for my (unhelpful!) GP appointment and returned to find a very poorly man. It scared me as he couldn’t support his weight, temperature soaring and struggling to speak. All in less than an hour.
Settling him back in bed out came the covid tests and yes, positive. He’s slept for most of the day, temperature is reducing, he’s now walking to the bathroom fairly steadily and is of course assuring me he’s OK when he obviously isn’t.
We’re both worried in case our Wonder Woman has picked it up, Mr C will be devastated if she has covid. Sadly we’ve had to cancel Mondays appointment at the Heart hospital. In spite of the best efforts of a very kind young woman no space for Mr C to be seen until January. Nuisance sums it up.
My covid test was thankfully negative, with luck it will stay that way. These things are sent to try us and goodness, life seems to be trying at the moment.
I heard today that our dear friend has been asked to move from her care home, not that she knows or will remember when told. I won’t give details except to say she’s done nothing wrong. Our goddaughter is distraught, spent a long while venting on the phone today. I’m more than worried about our friends well-being and at the moment have little head space or I’m sad to say patience with her daughter. They live across the country, I can offer no practical help which adds to my worry.
Forgive me if I’m awol for a while until life settles again. It will of course, just a bumpy patch.
Goodnight, sleep well everyone. TOYA.
You’re absolutely right Urms I’m pleased you both enjoyed your evening x
