Good morning from Perth a lovely morning and a lovely view from the bedroom window of the mountains in the distance. DD has to work today so we shall recover from our long journey. The trains all ran to time.
Take care everyone

Good Morning Friday 5th October 2023
(60 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and dry here in brackley .
Today , I have my chiropodist at 9 , from then I will hopefully get the bus to Bicester ,after yesterdays attempt which I returned back on same bus as I went on , due the Diahorhrea, or though more settled I still get periods of wet , anyway the basic leporine capsules do not seem to give me the protection I get from the Imodium branded ones .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from a beginning to get sunny Suffolk where we are promised a glorious few days.
I have a hair appointment later when I shall be regaled with tales of all the latest happenings to people I don’t know! My hairdresser is a lovely person but never stops chatting.
Afterwards DH will meet me for lunch in the old coaching inn nearby which always has good reasonably priced food and wine.
Hope those travelling have trouble free journeys and happy times on arrival and those with ill health or caring for others who do find some comfort today.
Susan, I hope those antibiotics help!
Oops, my mind always raced when I was on steroids, sleep was impossible. My colleagues used to dread me being on them, I was l like the Duracell bunny, only more frantic.
I always call them, the work of the devil, but they are a necessary evil. 💐
Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 13°C.
Usually on a Friday I am out and about, but all I will be doing today is getting my prescriptions, which have been lying in the surgery.
I noticed online that GP, whom I saw on Thursday, has failed to update my repeat info, essential if I need admitted to hospital.
A bit silly I know, but DH isn't golfing as he usually does and I'm relieved that he will be at home and will be in charge!
I have a pair of jeggings which need altered a non exertion task, apart from that I will chill.
No contact from the useless GP, who said a week ago, that she would seek advice. Thank goodness the cardiology secretary has been more supportive.
My confidence has taken a knock, as I have realised that this may be as good as I get.
On a more positive note, (in between dozing off), my Turkish is improving, I am very au fait with the latest street fashion in Milan 💚 (so many obviously wealthy older ladies), I have done walking tours of my beloved Rome and I have investigated my personality type (so accurate) It explains a lot about my quirkiness. 🤣
Thank goodness for YOU Tube, it has saved my sanity! 😉
Scalpal, thank you for the wonderful photos and I hope ginny is recovering well from her op.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
Morning everyone from north Kent. Not sure what the weather’s doing as I haven’t ventured out yet, but it’s supposed to be hot this weekend.
Spent yesterday struggling to get my new iPad mini set up; suppose to do it by itself with the assistance of my other device, but they both sat on the desk looking at each other with little communication between them. Having spent all afternoon trying various methods I gave up before I lost any more of my sanity and patience! Will have another go this morning but I fear what little patience I have will soon be gone unless they buck their ideas up and get talking.
Apart from that nothing much else planned for today except we are “baby sitting “ GS1 and 2 this evening; I shall take my ipads with me if unsuccessful and let them do it. At 9 and 12 years they’ll sort it out for me without a problem no doubt!
Hope you all have a good day.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and dry, although rain is forecast. Susan💐 I hope you feel better soon. Ash enjoy your tranquility.
Yesterday was so hectic with the boys. Dgs2 and I went out for two walks and got soaked both times. He is a very strong willed wee boy! The bloodcurdling screams only happened once and that was at nap time. He was over tired and soon settled. However after I picked up his brother, they had fun pushing plastic chairs up and down the hall. Fortunately my next door neighbour is deaf. Then dgs2 worked out how to climb on my bed. Later I visited mum who wasn't great last night. One step forward, two back.
Today I'm meeting old school friends from more years back than I care to remember. We will have lunch and then reminisce. A sandwich only at tea time. Lots of self care while the family are away on holiday. Have a good day all
Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle. It rained most of yesterday too.
It doesn’t matter today as I’m just about to leave for Newcastle to see my physio. I’ll get a pretty ride over the Pennines whatever the weather.
Must go….have a good day everyone if you can.
Good morning from East Yorkshire. It is a dull, dry morning but still quite dark.
At the weekend I’d ordered some winter tights from a Tv shopping channel. They came in a pack of 4 and arrived yesterday. They were very cosy so much that I left them on when I picked up GS from school. I always size up but perhaps a bit too much as on the walk back from school I could feel them falling down. So much so that they were beneath my bottom! Oh dear.
Today I want to go in to the library to sort out my bus pass. Then I am going to see GS and his year in the harvest festival. He has a speaking part when he demonstrated it to us he spoke very clearly. Fingers crossed he remembers his lines. We are not going to our lodge until later this afternoon as they are doing roadworks right outside the entrance. When we left on Monday it was causing a lot of tail backs. They finish work st 3.30 so will coordinate our journey to arrive just after.
Have a good day.
Sago 🤣🤣
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Seems it will be a pleasant one today.
Beechnutella has been over to stay with me. We went out for lunch, she helped me with a few things techy wise and my washing line line which had broken the previous day with my washing on it. Luckily it was all dry. We also did a lot of talking.
Today I’ve got ironing, tidying my craft room so I can make some cards and early this afternoon I’m going to visit my friend in her new house.
Have the best day you can all 🌻
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I'm leaving for a train to Yorkshire shortly and seriously don't know what clothes to pack as the forecast is for unseasonal warmth!
It's average here with rain due.
We'll done Mick . Can you get advice from the district nurses? They know all the survival tricks.
My 84 yr old df has published a book about her and others' experiences of the second world war. I shall read it on the train.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Hugs for Kalu, Urms, Marydoll and any others having a hard time.
Morning from S Hants, mist will clear for sun later. Gardener and I sorted most of the essential jobs yesterday, found a rat hole though. Then I collected a few ordered bits from M&S, festive pieces for the family.
Give Belfast a wave for us Pitt MrJ’s home town and have a lovely stay.
Phone calls to make, grocery delivery later and pub tonight.
🦩🦩
Good morning all from a damp North Leicestershire.
A trip to the butcher's and Aldi this morning and then to make a final decision on paint colours for the kitchen. We only have about a dozen match pots already. We do this every time we need to paint a room. Luckily, DD3 uses up the trial pots.
I shall be so pleased to get the kitchen completed - it has been going on for so long.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning everyone from a dry and breezy Inverness
I’m going to the gym first thing for the circuits class and then a dip in the pool. Not much looking forward to circuits but I always feel better when it’s done! After I’ll be enjoying a coffee with my pal and having a good catch up
Safe travels Gingster and everyone on the move today and enjoy your holidays Pittcity and Sago
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from Shropshire.
I have been feeling rubbish the last 48 hours probably due to the antibiotics.I had a good sleep last night, the first for a week so hopefully today will be better.
H is here and we will take him to school later. He hasn’t been sleeping since he started school and the rest of the family are exhausted. He slept through last night for which I am grateful.
After school pick up we are taking the children to town to choose birthday presents for DD and clothes for DGD.DGD also needs a diary for her school council notes.
Thank you for the link to the petrol price site Ash.
I got a new phone on Wednesday corner. It took two hours🤯like you say why do they make it so complicated.
Hope this next course of steroids works Oops and that Mary and other poor lies are feeling better.
Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩
Morning all, back again on my travels!
Lovely to hear all your news, sorry you’re still suffering Mick.
This morning I awoke in a very beautiful little hotel near Huntingdon, we are en route to Stansted airport, we found this delightful hotel 50 minutes from the airport but it’s so much nicer than a travel lodge or similar!
Last night we ate at The Cock in Hemingford Grey, the food and service were exemplary.
We are going to return and stay here as we can use the park and ride into Cambridge and have a good explore.
My husband went to school in Cambridgein the 70’s he used to cycle out to Hemingford Grey and other villages in the area to smoke cannabis😬.
His poor parents and his house master thought he was a keen cyclist.
So todays flight is at 1pm, can anyone guess where I will be sleeping tonight?
Have a good day everyone and enjoy our Indian summer.
Good morning and it’s a dark one today.
We are travelling back to Suffolk this morning and ds2 will join us this evening. Ds1 will arrive early in the morning for their ‘helping’ weekend. ❤️. Lots to do in the garden, lopping trees and bushes and bits of painting and dIY ing.
Depending on how it goes, they might go with dh to the local footie match in the afternoon. Nice for them to be together.
I hope you all have a ‘good’ day and best wishes to those finding life tough at the moment. ‘Go with the flow and bend with the wind’, I used to tell my lovely mum. 🙏
Good morning from Colchester where we are forecast sun and 22°.
I have washing to get on the line and one of DS's eBay parcels to post. Then I'll pack as DH and I are off to Belfast tomorrow for a couple of days.
Last October we were far too hot in Seville so we decided on somewhere cooler this year.🤣
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning all from Glasgow. Wet and windy yet again.
I had a soup making day yesterday, Cock a Leekie and Ham Broth. Two of DH’s favourites and more appealing to him rather than a full meal. Two full bowls per sitting I am happy to say.
A SKY mechanic is due at some point this morning to solve, regardless of following all instructions I am not having much luck with connection.
Have a pleasant day all with kind thoughts and gentle hugs to all with troubling times.
Morning all, hope you can get back on track soon Muck
I had a busy day yesterday, a quick food shop then back home to cook Chutney, sterilise jars and fill them. They along with the onions are waiting to be labelled and finished with nice little toppers.
Today it’s gym first thing, looking after the 4yr old GS for a couple of hours whilst DiL gets pampered ready for our dinner in Mayfair tomorrow. Then it’s picking up The Imp and 8yr old from school/pre-school. DH and I will go to the local Turkish for dinner.
Have a good day folks 🙋♀️🦩
Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton, up unusually early, but am meeting a friend for coffee and need to get a much earlier bus today.
Managed at last to swap my summer and winter wardrobes yesterday, and decided to have a cull, with the result that 6 or 7 pairs of jeans are in the charity sack! They are all too small for me and I know I shall never get in to them again. No point in giving them wardrobe space.
Then tap and ballet dance classes after lunch- learnt a new ballet step - pas de chat - which involves a little jump.
Cut the back grass when I got home which was hard work after letting it go for 10 days. Then half an hour of weeding. Was so tired yesterday evening that I fell asleep in front of the tv and missed most of the programmes I wanted to watch!
Coffee this morning with a friend in Sainsbury's cafe, and then a top-up shop. One or two things were missing from my order yesterday. No plans for the rest of the day. Chicken curry is thawing in the fridge for dinner tonight.
May Friday be kind to us all.
.
Recent op…….
Good morning from Durham. It’s still dark, but dry here and a bird is singing its heart out! It wasn’t a nice walk with Little Dog last night - quite cool and blustery.
I’m taking him home later, as DD2 and I have our joint nail appointments this afternoon. . We might go out to eat afterwards, or perhaps just a drink, but I’ll see if DD1 can join us.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning dry but still dark here.
Mick it could be that your symptoms are normal due to your tenet op and shouldn’t be stopped by over the counter medication, I’m hoping that you are being guided by your team at the JR.
I’m on my second course of Steroids as the first course haven’t worked, heavy legs and arms, so not doing much, I just wish I could sleep! I’m not bright eyed or bushy tailed, just - awake!
Anyway, washing is piling up as are the dust bunnies and the bathroom needs a clean, MrOops will be busy today, I’ll tell him later, he never seems to see that the place needs cleaning.
Had an unexpected visit from MrOops mate late last night, he drove past and saw a light on and as we weren’t supposed to be here drove up the drive to investigate. MrOops said I think I saw a flash of lightening, but it was the car headlights. I’m sometimes not quite sure how MrOops brain works, who would see lights and think it was lightening?
Nice of him to check, needless to say I wasn’t looking my best…..
Hope everyone has a good day, hope the poorlies soon feel better, love to Urms and himself and all who are anxious and stressed.
Good morning from dry s somerset and am expecting lots of sun all day
A quiet relaxing day for me today, had the flu jab last night and want to do nothing much for a day or two
Mick just to say that I greatly admire how you cope and manage to get out. Loperamide (imodium) slows gut motility, stops it contracting so much and that allows the gut to absorb fluids and salts, which will be helping you. Perhaps see if you can get a prescription for them, would save you a lot of money
Have a good day
Good morning from a dark & drizzly Sefton. An unwelcome very early start for me this morning, I was unable to get back to sleep & its far too chilly to get up. I will moulder a while more up under my duvet.
Dance class this morning followed almost immediately by a slow & gentle Flow class. A quick shower then off to meet friends for lunch. That will do for today.
