Good morning Mick and All.

Calm before the storm here in South Bucks.

Off for a second visit to our new cinema today to see the Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson film. We are going to what is called the Silverscreen showing which is for the over 65s. You get a free coffee and slice of cake, whoopee !

Whitewavemark2 Wed 18-Oct-23 08:15:11

Good morning from a blustery and possibly wet South Downs. Havent got up yet, which is a real luxury for me.

Rain and high wind forecast, so it will be a day in for sure. My sister goes for her pre-op today to East Grinstead.

Spicy aubergine pasta for supper - stomach settled so it was the high fat content of the meal i had.

nannagarra Shingle sufferer - get well soon - miserable thing I think.

With fervent hope for peace and harmony throughout the world.

Good morning. Dull with a bit of a breeze ere in N. Bucks.
Yesterday was busy. Hospital appointment, physio, lunch out, a walk and a beautiful flower demo in the evening. People were very surprised to see me there 2 weeks after the hip op’.
To be honest I probably overdid it and shall have a quiet day today.
Still a lot of poorly people on here. I hope you all see some improvement soon.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 18-Oct-23 08:03:07

Good morning from a dull but calm Oxfordshire, certainly the lull before the storm which is due to hit us late afternoon.
Dog day today and that’s it, MrOops will continue to do the walks until I’m sorted, I’ll stay indoors in the warm.
Have a good day everyone and be careful out there.

brook2704 Wed 18-Oct-23 07:54:58

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it looks a bit cloudy with rain forecast for later
Sorry to hear about the shingles nannagarra, hoping others can offer a few tips. I had it a few years ago and it was awful but luckily I made a full recovery with no after effects, take care and have lots of rest
This morning I’m off to the gym and later I’m looking forward to having coffee and a catch up with my friend. The local DGC are away on holiday this week so we’ve no childcare to help out with but it’s really quiet
How lovely your DGD was so excited to get back to her mum Gingster, that’s how it should be. You’ll definitely be her second best friend though!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Morning Mick, morning All Our corner of Somerset is in the calm before the storm phase.

Decent day yesterday. The GP was delighted with Mr C’s progress. Caught up with dust removal and was able to help our highly anxious goddaughter pick her way through a process around safeguarding her Mum in her care home.

Our daughter in law is flying along. Dressed, all lines out, walking about unaided and eating more. Still in HDU only because no ward beds. We’re holding back from visiting partly because she’s worried about us getting there (no need!) but mainly because Mr C seems to have found a cold, no matter, enough to have the twice daily updates from our son.

We had the same message about Mr C’s end of November appointment susan. And sigh. Goodness grandmab. No wonder you’re tired. Hope for an easier day for you today.

Good luck with the storm everyone. Have the best day you can.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Grey and chilly with rain expected in South Yorkshire. Yesterday we actually got a bit of sun. I walked into the conservatory and it was like stepping into a sauna, so I sat and had a long chat with my niece before going out for a walk. Poetry group at the library this afternoon, if the weather doesn’t keep everyone at home. I might make cheese scones this morning.
Nannagarra I hope your shingles clears up soon. DH had it a couple of times and it was horrible.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 18-Oct-23 07:51:54

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m up at the crack of dawn (for me) waiting for the decorator. I do wish I could shake off this covid exhaustion. I was also awake during the night with a painful eye. Jeez. It is WI tonight and I might have to ask someone to deputise.
Have a good day everyone.

harrigran Wed 18-Oct-23 07:50:53

Good morning from an overcast NE. The thermometer says it is 10 degrees outside but the heating chugging away woke me early.
Busy day yesterday, cooked lunch for DS then we went shopping.
In the evening we went to Durham for GD's concert, very talented musicians, singers and dancers one in particular did a traditional Sri Lankan dance which was absolutely amazing.
I am going to have a quiet day and catch up with some reading.

luluaugust Wed 18-Oct-23 07:47:05

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. Off to the cinema this morning to see the Michael Caine film not something we usually do.
Nannagarra flowers
Best wishes to all

Pittcity Wed 18-Oct-23 07:46:57

Good morning from Colchester where it's 11° rising to 15 with rain later.
Wednesday morning coffee meetup in the city centre and ironing this afternoon.
Love to all 🦩 x

Gingster Wed 18-Oct-23 07:43:17

Good morning all . A little breezy but no signs of storm Babette. I hope no one has too much disruption/damage.

Little DGD went back to her mums yesterday, after having tea with a friend. She was so excited. Her mum really is her very best friend! ❤️.
I’ll pick her up for school and collect her this afternoon.

Dh might go fishing. He’ll see how the weather is.

I hope you all have a ‘good’ day 🌻

Blossoming Wed 18-Oct-23 07:42:46

Good morning Mick and all from windy Lancashire. ?It’s still dark outside and the wind has been buffeting the house but no rain here so far. It’s currently 10°C.

I did very little yesterday after my fall, I’m feeling quite dizzy at the moment so am taking it easy. The dehumidifier went on and collected quite a bit of water. The washing felt much dryer after a couple of hours so I’m very pleased with that.

Another day of taking it slowly beckons.

Nannagarra hope you feel better soon.

My thoughts are with those dealing with troubles, may today bring some comfort.

Have a good day all 🌹

GrannyGravy13 Wed 18-Oct-23 07:40:36

Morning all, the weather is quite before storm Babette arrives 💨☔️🌊

Off to the gym and then I want to pop to M & S Food Hall to see what’s new.

We think DH’s beloved car is going to be consignment to the scrap yard in the sky, he is so grumpy, he loves that car (more than me I think) I dread having to drive him round dealerships in between granny duty 😱

Have a good day folks 🦩🙋‍♀️

monk08 Wed 18-Oct-23 07:30:33

Good morning all from the Black country where it is dry at the moment but rather windy.
No plans today but I do need to try for drs appointment for DH have tried last 2 days with no luck, he has a painful swollen knee and because of his various medications for his heart is wary what he can and cannot use for it. I also need to collect his prescription so perhaps have a word with pharmacist.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Susan56 Wed 18-Oct-23 07:12:09

Good morning from Shropshire.

We’re back home after our two days in North Wales looking after the children.DGD’s reading went well at the Harvest Festival.Welsh class is getting more difficult.I will have to do homework this week.

Today a blood test and then we will get the tyres checked and continue our hunt for conservatory furniture.

Yesterday I had a letter to phone and make a hospital appointment.I got an appointment for 4th December and was told don’t be surprised if it is cancelled🤷‍♀️

I am sorry you have shingles Nannagarra, take care.

Glad you had a good day Grandmabatty with the boys and your mum.Hope the tv can be fixed quickly.

Have the best day possible everyone🌺🦩

Mizuna Wed 18-Oct-23 07:08:51

I've pm'd you Nannagarra.

RosesandLilac Wed 18-Oct-23 07:05:35

Good morning, it’s dry here in south Gloucestershire at the moment.
Yesterday I had a lovely manicure, very happy with the shell pink polish.
Today a hair cut and then the jabs this afternoon, presumably I will get soaked for both if the forecast is correct 🙄
More crocheting later, I hope I get the last 12 rows done before the weekend then there’s the border which will take me a while!
Have a good day everyone 🌹

Ashcombe Wed 18-Oct-23 06:59:41

Good morning from a wet and windy Torbay where Storm Babett continues to rage, making it feel colder than it actually is. We’ve had very rough seas for a few days.

Shingles is horrid, Nannagarra. No advice to add to what has already been offered. Plenty of rest is recommended, as with recovery from any virus, but it’s not easy to achieve. I hope you were offered the anti-viral tablets as they reduce the severity and duration of the illness. Take care.

Today I’ll be attending Wednesday Club where we'll review last week's play. Tonight I’m back at the Theatre to watch a visiting theatre company perform The Haunting. They came last year and were excellent so I’m looking forward to seeing them again.

I am in awe of all grandparents involved in childcare as I wouldn’t have the strength or the energy. No wonder you are tired, Grandmabatty, especially as you have your mother to consider, too. Take care of yourself. 💐

Happy hump day! 🦩🌊🌬☁️🦩

kittylester Wed 18-Oct-23 06:52:46

Good morning all from a warmer North Leicestershire.

We have a busy day ahead. Our cleaners arrive at 8.45, DH is off to the gym and then taking DS1 to Sheffield for a hospital appt.

I have loads to do in town including getting my hair done. Storm Babette will be fun.

Lovely to see you on this thread, Nannagarra, please keep coming back. I suggest you start another thread for advice about your shingles.

Have the best day possible everyone.

HelterSkelter1 Wed 18-Oct-23 06:37:09

I read Good Morning as awake at silly o'clock most days but dont post. However sympathies to Nannagarra. Painkillers of course. And I had antivirala as well from the first 72 hours which helped. My rash was across the base of my spine and all over one buttock.
So sitting and sleeping was v difficult. My only tip is warm salty baths especially after going to the loo ( which was a trial in itself) and drying the rash with a v gentle heat hair dryer.
Maybe someone else will have more help depending on where their rash was. I still get a nerve pain 18 month on. Get better soon.

Grandmabatty Wed 18-Oct-23 06:21:05

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and dry. Significantly warmer than the last few days. Nannagarra I have no advice, only sympathy.
Yesterday was another good day with the boys. The promised picnic didn't happen though, as fog descended and the temperature dropped too. We walked to the swings and were so cold. A day indoors instead. Then later on the weather improved and we walked to a local wood and pottered about there. At night I visited mum who was really chatty. Her tv has stopped working though. As she's in a single room, it's the only entertainment she gets. I mentioned it to a nurse but I don't hold out hope that it'll be fixed soon.
Today is another childcare day and I'm tired! I think we'll aim for a picnic today. Have a good day all

karmalady Wed 18-Oct-23 06:13:16

Good morning, a grim day in s somerset, getting worse by lunchtime. Lots of rain and lots of wind

I was happily busy indoors all day yesterday and did the final sort of my wardrobe and drawers. I never got out of bed intending to do that but it happened very spontaneously. Marvellous, it means that I don`t have to dither about what to wear

The afternoon I spent doing more pattern alterations on a third toile for a dress, toile two is wearable. This one is the last attempt and the fabric is one that does not suit my colouring. If it works I will wear it as it is fine wool crepe, over 10 years old. I am putting different colour neck and wrist bands on so it will be ok to wear next to my faceand will not go to waste. Difficult and slippy does not help, I put side pockets on before going to bed, which took twice as long. All this stuff does occupy my mind and keeps me cheered and occupied

Today I will finish that dress while listening to the howling wind

Have a good day

Nannagarra Wed 18-Oct-23 06:11:55

Good morning from dark, dry Sefton.
Unable to sleep having shingles, I’d welcome any tips.
Take care everyone.

grandMattie Wed 18-Oct-23 06:03:46

Good morning from Bristol. Haven’t heard the rain yet.
I had my tai chi class in the open - all year apparently - there was very cold wind, I was wearing two pairs of gloves and lasted the 30 minutes.
When I got home, I went to Waitrose for bits and pieces and had the privilege of being rescanned! Grr 😖
I had a really long nap in the afternoon, having had a bad night. This threw me a lot, but managed a bit of sewing.
While washing up after dinner, I noticed that the water pressure was very low. A few minutes later, no water! After a chat on our WhatsApp group where I wasn’t the only waterless resident, Wessex water fixed a leak in the road and we were ok again! Phew.
Quiet again today. I need to make some flapjacks for DD’s parish meeting to tomorrow night. Saves her some time.
Gentle thoughts to all with problems and sadness. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩
