M&S - recycling policy...

I’ve just done that (taken a bag). My items were in zip up M&S bags which they kept. I was told that if I needed to return anything I could bring it unbagged and use one of these as there would always be a couple available on the shop floor for me to use.
The only thing is that “single use” plastic bags were never just that- I would use them again for lining waste paper bins, bagging up books to take to the charity shop, for putting my wellies in if I was going away for the weekend…the list goes on!

My order confirmation email today says:
‘As part of our plan to use less plastic, your order may not be in a bag or packaging, so please make sure you bring a bag’

So I’ll take one in case.

I went to M & S to collect the new underwear that I had ordered. I waited by the counter with my bag, until it was brought to me by a very embarrassed teenage male shop assistant.

I ordered a top in M &S . Ordered it in store, sales assistant said " we no longer provide bags so please bring one with you on collection" Received an email asking me to please bring a bag as they don't give out bags any more. I went to the in store click and collect for my top - you guessed it, my lightweight tee shirt type top was sealed in a VERY large plastic bag !!

Or not ! Ordered some crockery to "click and collect", fine, specified that bags were no longer provided so bring your own, also fine.
Could not believe the amount of packaging ! OK boxes were recycled, not really expecting even those as only 4 cereal bowls and 4 pasta bowls ordered and had come prepared. I do obviously understand crockery is easily broken/chipped in transit but when I opened the boxes I was amazed. Filled a large bin bag ! Due to copious amounts of tape could only salvage a small percentage to recycle. Drives me mad !
