Good morning from a wet W Kent. After a lovely morning out visiting friend and a quick visit to DD I went home and have come down with a stomach upset, where from I have no idea. I suppose it could be Covid or the new statins I have just started, who knows. Cancelled everything for today.
Best wishes to all

Good morning from bright and chilly Ceredigion, we’ve been having lovely weather here on the coast and today looks like more!
Yesterday I had horrendous indigestion all day, I honestly wondered if it was a heart problem by late afternoon. Umpteen Rennies, Gaviscon and then Nexium eased it a bit.Eventually it settled somewhat but I didn’t sleep well. I do have a hiatus hernia so I suspect it’s that, but I haven’t had pain radiating across my shoulders before.
Anyway, a quiet day today I think, a nice beach walk in the sunshine will sort me out!

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry. Gingster you are a kind friend indeed. Brook you must be well on your way by now. Greyduster that sounds intriguing but I know what you mean about Facebook. I rarely look at mine now. GrandMattie I hope the meetings go well. Harrigran sounds like a spider! Ash I have many favourite poems and include The Donkey in that list.
Yesterday dgs2 was harder work because he was grumpy. I think he was tired and he didn't really settle down until after his afternoon nap. It just meant I had to work harder at distracting him in the morning. So a long walk, then we jumped in the car to go to the pharmacy for my prescriptions, then a trip to Aldi for something for lunch. I visited mum at night. She was quieter than usual but still engaged in conversation some of the time. I only stayed twenty minutes because my sciatica was bothering me, but she wasn't really interested in talking anyway.
Today I had a long lie. I'll nip to the library later. The books I borrowed a fortnight ago just haven't captured my attention. I shall happily potter about the rest of the day. I might play with my new pastels. Have a good day all

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is two 2°C.
I have woken with yet another bad headache,I'm putting it down to the boosters.

Brook, I hope you are safely in Gatwick by now. Have a great time with your grandchildren.
Good luck with the dentist folks and GM, hoping for a successful meeting.

Well yesterday turned out to be much better than anticipated.
I was lying in bed reading GN, and feeling sorry for myself, when DH came up and asked why I wasn't dressed. ???????

"I thought we were going out"" he said.

I pointed out that he was allegedly dying after his booster.

"Oh I feel a good bit better now that I am up, fed and showered".

I was out of bed , as fast as my stiff joints and lightheadness would allow. 😉

We had a lovely morning, Coffee, chatting, a bit of retail therapy and a lot of sitting and people watching.
DH, who usually comes back with nothing, bought three pairs of of trousers and a pair of joggers in the M&S outlet. The best part was that he actually agreed to try them on and for the first time in years, (he doesn't have a regular leg length) they do NOT need to be altered. I hate that job. He must have shrunk! 😁
There were lots of bargains in the outlet ( Jeggings at £4.99), but nothing for a wee fat lady!
While DH was trying on the trousers, I had to ask the assistant if I could sit down in a cubicle, because I was having an attack of dizziness. Doing too much, too soon!

As for me, I know you won't believe this, but all I came back with was a bottle of Molton Brown rose absolutely shower gel ( my absolute favourite treat), a box of Christmas cards and a pair of glittery socks! DH was astonished at my frugality and delighted that he had been relieved of pack horse duties!
Usually we have lunch out too, but I had done too much and just wanted home. I was right to go home. Later the nausea came back with a vengeance, but I'm used to that now, it's no big deal.

I'm pretty wiped out, so an easy day for me today. I may flick a duster, if I feel up to it.
I suspect my PP may appear. Wednesday is his usual visiting day and after last week's doorbell fiasco, he may try today.
Poor Dollie was indignant, when she got the blame for the doorbell. She used to change the ring tones or switch it off. It was actually nothing to do with her. 😚

Have a good day folks and best wishes for all the poorlies.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s damp out but the sun is shining and the warmth behind glass is very pleasant.

I cannot believe we are nearing the end of October. It is now seven months post diagnosis. My anxiety has been up in the rafters most days and I don’t think it will ever go away. I worry these days about so many things.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle where it may or may not shower. The fog the forecaster said was over the northwest isn't up here, I expect they mean Lancashire as usual!
Got quite a bit done after all yesterday in spite of my kidney infection trying to flare up. Today, I'm hoping to polish off my tedious form-filling. When that's done, I shall actually enjoy doing some housework!

I hope the day finds problems resolving and health on the mend.

Good morning from Durham. A wet start, still and gloomy too. I’m having a phase of sleeping later, but only because I’m not falling asleep until after 3pm. It’s not really an issue, as we hurtle towards Winter.
I’m taking Little Dog home later, then plan to ‘waste’ my afternoon in Newcastle and I’ll call and see DGS1 on the way home - he has his first wobbly tooth.
Monk08 after a few breakages, I got DH a selection of stainless steel flasks - worth every penny and still going strong after 30 years. The DDs use them now.
Mick I’m pleased you’re going to get some advice - perhaps a tweak of your meds is needed.
Commiserations to those with dental appointments - a pain in the purse these days, too!
Hoping our poorly GNs are improving.
Best wishes to all. X

RosiesMaw Wed 25-Oct-23 08:56:42

Good morning all from N Bucks where it is grey.
Yesterday turned out better than expected- it brightened up for a start into a lovely sunny Autumn day. Our trip to the vet was also successful. The vet decided that Rosie’s dew claw was hanging by a thread so while the dog was distracted by seeing a cat in the isolation area, she just tweaked it off. The rest of the claw clipping along with a general look at ears and teeth, a feel around and weigh-in were apparently covered by the half yearly health check which comes free with her “pet club “ membership (of course nothing is ever actually free but a small monthly payment covers boosters, flea and worm prevention, 10% off medication and 2 general check ups a year)
So while the last dewclaw incident was well over £100 to cover sedation, pain relief, 2 consultations and a follow up- all this cost was £30 for a weeks supply of pain relief if she needs it.
We’re both much happier.
Off to Rushden Lakes this morning with a friend (BlueSapphire knows it well ) for coffee, a mooch, lunch and probably another mooch. All I need are some Halloween bits for the grandchildren when I see them in Somerset next week, but it’s been a while since I had a mooch!
Wishing you all a safe and pleasant day.

monk08 Wed 25-Oct-23 08:56:57

Georgesgran our spare is a stainless steel but twice the size of the broken one so need one smaller to fit in his creel.

GrannySomerset Wed 25-Oct-23 09:00:11

No plans today except for a session with a clever friend planning an entry for a Christmas tree festival in our church at the beginning of December. We have been offered assistance by the primary school after school club so need to design something simple which can be repeated, probably stars as our tree will have the nativity as its theme.

Lots of half term activities mentioned so I hope they all go well. I used to make the mincemeat and C cake when there were children at home but I am ahead of myself this year and the job is done.

Taichinan Wed 25-Oct-23 09:03:59

Good morning all. It's a grey yukky day on the Angus coast and according to my weather app we have rain forecast every day for the next week. Something to look forward to - not.
Glad your appointment went well yesterday Mick but sorry your tummy problem came back. I think if I was you I wouldn't be having Chinese takeaways while this is going on, but good you're seeking advice from your nursing team.
Hope you're having a good flight Brook - enjoy your time with the DGSs in Cambridge.
I agree with everyone who says you should definitely have a live-in warden grandmattie. I really don't like the sound of that 'management' team - they don't seem to have the best interests of the residents in mind!
Yesterday's tai chi went well and then it was lovely to see my fishmonger back from holidays - a Captain's Catch bowl was enjoyed for lunch. He was telling me that his friend, who lives by a river not far from here, has been flooded out for the second time. They're a young couple with a baby and are now feeling that enough is enough, but who is going to want to buy a house on a river bank these days? It is such a sad tale, and one being repeated all over the country just now.
Oh dear, that hasn't cheered me up on this dank miserable day! So off I shall plod, 'to do' list in hand, and try to make the best of it. At least I'm dry.
Have a good day everyone x

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Didn’t enjoy the music club so much yesterday, possibly because I’m out so much (shouldn’t complain). Today will forgo the usual lunchtime recital and catch up at home.
My sister arrives from London tonight so I will prepare for that. Really looking forward to it as we are close, having had similar careers and interests.

So sorry you had another nasty bout Mick and thoughts to all with troubles 🌺

GrannyGravy13 Wed 25-Oct-23 09:16:35

Morning all from a grey S E Essex.

I am feeling rather jaded this morning after a late night putting the world to rights with my pal. I am going to the cinema at lunchtime with DD and The Imp to see the new Trolls film, as His Impiness is a fidget it will be interesting (have booked seats in the back row so he doesn’t get in anyone’s way)

Urmstongran (((hugs))), hope today is a better day Marydoll

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

BlueSapphire Wed 25-Oct-23 09:20:27

Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton. Sunǹy spells forecast so I may put some washing in.
A lovely health walk yesterday afternoon; when I got back I finished trimming the edges of the back lawn.
Book club this afternoon; we are discussing 'The Stone Diaries ' by Carol Shields, a Canadian author.

RosiesMaw, enjoy Rushden Lakes; the best place for coffee is upstairs in the Magazine Shop; they have a little cafe up there with delicious coffee.

Wishing all a good day.

Blossoming Wed 25-Oct-23 09:39:42

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, currently 4°C. A chilly start to the day, the heating is on again. Sorry you had a setback Mick, your nurses should be able to advise.

Yesterday was nonstop rain so no walk, just some housework. Nothing on the agenda for today other than usual exercises and hoping for another walk.

Hope all goes well at the dentist Ash and Alygran, and your sister gets her scan Whitewavemark. Safe journey Brook, have a lovely time with the little ones. Glad you’re feeling so much better *LadyLFL and Susan.

So glad you had a better day yesterday Marydoll, hope you have a relaxing day today.

There was no fog here either Ekwa, just glorious sunshine.

Glad the vet visit went well RosiesMaw, enjoy your day out.

The floods look horrendous Taichinan, glad it’s not reached where you are .

As always my thoughts are with those dealing with troubles, may today bring some comfort.

Have a good day all 🦩🦩

I its bright here in West York's,just going to my weekly meet up think we are planning Christmas stalls at various venues and maybe a quiz .

dustyangel Wed 25-Oct-23 09:47:56

Good morning everyone. Very wet here but the forecast cast is for the one rain free day this week so maybe I’ll get the the chance to put the washing outside, instead of on the couple of airers in the spare room where it’s been lingering for the last two days.

We had a strange afternoon yesterday. DH was due for an MRI at 14.30 and had been told not to eat or drink for 4 hours before.
Driven by DH’s nephew we duly set off to Faro allowing an extra half hour for traffic which we didn’t need so ended up early for his appointment.
Eventually after walking down miles of corridors, so very like our local one in UK that I had a feeling of being in the wrong country at one point, we arrived early and wanted and waited, gradually being joined by others. Then we waited some more.

The other patients, all having had to drink three tumblers of water, ( I’ve had those horrible, bursting bladder scans in the past.) eventually whittled down to just DH who only had to drink one. And still we waited.
At last he had the scan and we were free to find poor nephew outside who was shuffling the car in the car park.
Home again feeling exhausted despite not actually having done anything all afternoon.

DH seems able to shut out everything else and read at times like this but I find it hard to settle especially as I haven’t even got the distraction of easily chatting to others in the queue.

karmalady Wed 25-Oct-23 09:53:34

GM it depends on the small print in the management contract, which you will all have signed pre-buying. There could well be a small opt-out clause wrt the resident manager. I would not be surprised if the management company has been sold on and on since it was initially set up. It is all about profits nowadays

Try and find time to check you pre-purchase legal pack. There will be many clauses and much legal language in the management contract and the opt out may just be a few words, almost hidden

Marydoll Wed 25-Oct-23 09:55:04

I have just had a call from the surgery to say my rheumatologist has contacted my GP to say I have to stop my biologics in the meantime. He thinks they may be the cause of my latest ill health.
I've to wait a few weeks and see if I improve, then it's back to the drawing board.
I wept when the receptionist told me. I had given up hope of anyone helping.

karmalady Wed 25-Oct-23 09:57:19

also read the leasehold conditions, it maywell be in there, wrt manager

Good morning from a dull but presently dry Dunblane. I have a had a couple of busy days chatting. Monday was lunch with ex colleagues there are six of us all retired from teaching and we meet every two or three months for a catch up. It is good as we get ideas of places to go and things to buy or avoid. It is also good to hear how their children are getting on as we have known many of the said children since they were at school but now grown up with families of their own.
Yesterday was a “Glasgow day” where I meet up with another friend since student days. It consists of coffee and chat, move to another venue have lunch and chat, move, a quick look at shops chatting then bus home. An exhausting day indeed! 🤣 Quieter day today as I have housework to do before GD2 comes in after school for a couple of hours. Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all from Glasgow, cloudy skies but dry.

A trip to the hairdressers later apart from that, foutering about at home.

Urms, I get it. 💐

Have the best day you can all.

Trying my 2nd attempt this morning, the first attempt was 3 hours ago but life has been so busy since! Hope you get your proem sorted Mick. Good Luck with the dentist Ashcombe.
I agree with others, if you have e purchased warden managed flat, then it should continue, good Luck with it!
Yesterday had a very enjoyable art club, I did a not bad portrait! we also had a birthday party for one of our member who celebrated her 100th birthday. - apparently it was her umpteenth party!! She's an amazing lady who drove ambulances in the 2nd World War with the then Princess Elizabeth - she's been doing talks about her service. Her art work is pretty good, too!
This morning after my interruption from doing this post, I have done 3 word games and Wordle, sorted a bank problem, put a stew on and a wash and am about to embark on a Zoom Call. I would like two go to the shops after (I deserve it!)
Have the best day possible folks! and hope to read the rest of your posts!
