Wind is whipping up now and set to be 48mph tomorrow - I have no plans to go anywhere at all ....!

But on Friday I have a train journey to negotiate - or maybe there will be the wrong kind of leaves on the line ....

We are at the start of the Thames Estuary on the Essex coast. Torrential rain at the moment and very windy. An amber weather warning is in place. I believe it is due to get worse later.
I hope everyone stays safe xx

Here in the sunny, tho not today, Isle of Thanet, it is very blowy out there! My housemate was worried about me going to bed last night because of the trees not far from my windows, but I think it would take a very big tornado to uproot those ones with all that is piled up out there - not our garden, just past the fence of our tiny little yard is some land, no one knows whose it is, but it's filled with soil, mainly, and some smaller bits of junk!
It's been raining hard on and off. I think it's just started again. We shan't be going anywhere today, but I hope the GC will be alright at school - luckily, they are driven there & back, so don't have to wait for buses!
Stay safe, everyone!!

My son and his family are on holiday on the south coast. I’m hoping that they’re ok: haven’t heard from them.

Has been raining during the night, but stopped now. No sign of wind at all.

North Norfolk.

I'm in Cornwall and it was very stormy last night and still bad this morning. I'm mainly worried because my daughter is returning to London today by train and bus.

All quiet here in Co. Durham. Very heavy rain overnight, but no wind.

Hope our holiday home in Normandy is OK,. We're going over to it next week...

The wind was you might call angry yesterday evening in Devon, but died down throughout the night. Picking up a bit now. I think the real big storm is happening south of UK in the Channel and in France. Friends in Brittany say it's devastation there.

Went to pick up the little grandson from school here in Wiltshire and encountered horizontal freezing rain and unbelievable winds, I was scared we’d get blown over. The night was noisy and very wet but the trees are quiet at the moment, very still in fact that is in itself a little scary.

Bluebelle - hope things settle a bit for you. Windy and rain here - but the really strong gusts are not due for a couple of hours.

Still heavy rain in south Devon this morning, after a very stormy night.

JaneJudge Thu 02-Nov-23 09:57:29

not at the moment

Showers of heavy rain but not the usual westerly gales here in Eden. Hope it stays like this. Next door has an old Sycamore they will not cut down that has a habit of dropping a huge branch on the road or our drive if the gales start.

Very windy last night on the south coast. It didn’t keep me awake though. Our amber warning seems to have shifted to Sussex so hopefully we’ve had the worst.

Granmarderby10 Thu 02-Nov-23 10:20:01

All is calm here 🙂

Yes, only mad dogs out in the Devon rain this morning!

henetha Thu 02-Nov-23 11:01:56

Hi Joseann.... Great photos! I bet your dog will be pleased when this weather heads east and leaves us alone.
It's actually easing off a bit here now I think.

Storm Ciarán has arrived. Tree down near Trerulefoot and lots of water on the roads.

Grantanow Thu 02-Nov-23 12:31:58

In South Somerset now it's raining and windy but not very far out of the ordinary. No tiles lost. Local pumpkin display not blown away overnight. I think we were on the edge of the storm.

Luckygirl3 Thu 02-Nov-23 15:42:45

I seem to have got off lightly so far ... fingers crossed for the rest of the day.

S E Essex, torrential rain, blustery and very dark

Just about to go out and pick up GS from school football practice, he will be cold and drenched.

It looks really dreadful in Jersey, I just watched a news correspondent get buffeted over by the wind. It’s okay in mid Wales, a bit wet and windy but nothing out of the ordinary so far.

dogsmother Thu 02-Nov-23 16:43:35

Casdon as I said earlier the CI ( channel isles) have had it really bad. Poor Jersey have had such a bad run of misfortune and my heart goes out to them.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 02-Nov-23 16:46:41

Just getting windy again here in Oxfordshire, local roads are flooded.

Mine too dogsmother, the TV footage looks terrifying. I hope it passes quickly.
