Good morning everyone from Inverness where at last it’s stopped raining.
Enjoy spending time on your Birthday today with your children greyduster take care 💐
Just love the Halloween table Rosies brilliant!
I’m hoping to wrap up warm and get out into the garden today. The weather has been so wet recently that I’ve not been out much and there’s loads of winter tidying to do.
Ash oh no! Hope olddudders isn’t too bad, at least you’re there to look after him but hope you don’t catch it too
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good Morning Saturday 4th November 2023
(54 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Dark , but clear and dry outside here in brackley .
Today later this morning a appointment with my doctor to check me up and see if he can prescribe something .
Weight wise a slight up, but lo visits as to any number 2`s down .
Water seems key as regards to things by drinking the daily amount around 2 litres I think.
Leg swell still there but more exercise walking wise may help .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning Mick and All from a very soggy wet South Bucks.
Dr Moseley says it is good for you if you go for a walk when the rain stops as you inhale beneficial ions. I shall give it a go.
My DGS returned safely from his first holiday with the school on the Isle of Wight. He said a teacher had helped him with all his cream regime for his skin and inhalers. He had been tasked with supporting a friend who was missing home. What a lovely supportive group.
Happy Birthday Greyduster so pleased your family will be with you today 💐
Good morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders. Very quiet here. I haven't heard many fireworks compared to other years.
Asda is selling silent ones I'm told.
I have the usual Saturday morning café. I've made a cake but still to do the flowers - a bit challenging at this time of year.
Happy birthday greyduster enjoy your special evening.
Here's my birch tree. We allowed it to survive 43 years ago when it was a tiny sapling. Now it's taller than the house.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Good morning all from a dry and sunny Suffolk. Everywhere round here seems to be drying out quite well although the ground is still squelchy and some of the lanes are impassable.
I’m hoping to plant my tulip bulbs today and a tray of violas that I bought before going on holiday. They seem to have survived and have been well watered in my absense.
Apart from our weekly Waitrose delivery this afternoon and a dog walk soon,it is a quiet day here. Tomorrow we’ll see our DS and family and we have yet to decide whether we’ll go there or they will come here. Wherever we meet,it will just be a drink and snack at lunch time.
Thinking of those for whom life is a struggle at present.
Blood bags of Ribena! 🤣
Oh, I do enjoy a mooch in Home Bargains, Gmb.
Gosh, you’re taking me back some years, Llfl, rekindling happy memories of Ox and the bus to London.
Good morning from Glossop.
Off for my day out at Chatsworth with my girls. This is for my birthday in September.
Greyduster happy birthday. Pleased you will have your family with you
Good morning from a wet, gloomy Colchester. I have a weekend alone as everyone is otherwise occupied. I have a long list of tasks but the weather makes me want to hibernate. Think I need some fresh air so will go for a walk.
Happy birthday Greyduster🎂 and love to all 🦩 x
Good morning from a very wet Essex coast. It is hammering down.
We have all DH's family coming this evening to watch the local fireworks from our lounge. I hope it's all not a damp squib.
We have to go into town this morning to get a picture framed. I also need to go to M &S for some bits for this evening.
This afternoon will be spent preparing and cooking.
Happy Birthday Greyduster.
Have a good day everyone xx
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and grey. Greyduster a very happy birthday to you. Enjoy your family time..Ash oh no! I hope he isn't too bad and that you don't get it. RosiesMaw love the Halloween table!
Yesterday dd picked me up and took me to Home Bargains where I bought all things Christmas. Paper, cards and some small presents, including Brazil nuts which are hard to come by. Dd stayed for a coffee at my house and dgs2 was happy, buzzing around. I sorted my Christmas list once she'd left so that's one more thing done. very smug
Today I'm meeting a friend for breakfast at the local garden centre. I won't be able to linger afterwards as I'm taking her home and she doesn't walk too well. Thereafter I have no plans. If it's dry, I want to do a little work in the garden. Then watching strictly tonight. Have a good day all
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I’m off to London later. I’ve booked a guided tour of St James’s Palace. It’s going to be a fiddle getting there though. Driving into Oxford is a nightmare at the moment and another major road is closed this week! So, I’m driving to the next village, parking my car and getting a bus. The bus stops a bit before the railway station (that road is closed too) so I’ll then walk to the station. When I get to Paddington I’ll get a taxi. Phew.
Tonight the cats will sleep on my bed. There are are just two nights a year when that’s allowed - NYE and Bonfire night.
Have a good day - have you started packing yet Urms?
Good morning from a very wet W Kent. A small shop and a bit of cooking for tomorrow when DS and family drop by. Happy birthday Greyduster. Good luck with the doctor Mick
Best wishes to all
Good morning all.
Had a lovely school reunion yesterday. So interesting to hear about others lives and experiences since we were at school.
We’re all wearing well and enjoying ourselves. .
Today I’ll see Dd and see what I can do for her. Her scan was cancelled AGAIN yesterday.
Happy birthday Geyduster. Have a lovely day with your family. 🫅.
Send a pic if your coffee table Mizuna it sounds great.
I hope your gran dog isn’t too unsettled with the fireworks Oops. Our little pooch thankfully doesn’t seem to mind too much. She raises her head and then goes back to sleep . .
Enjoy the day 🌻
Good morning all and a special hug for Greyduster - I am so glad your family are insisting on making a fuss of you on your birthday. Having them together is what any mum wants isn’t it?
I dreaded my first birthday after Paw died, even opening cards I had received the night before because I didn’t think I would be able to face it alone.
So, home again. After the flooded roads , howling gales and horizontal rain of Wednesday night /Thursday, yesterday dawned bright and sunny so I took the GC boomeranging on the hill along from their house while D got on with packing up. A race to see which GC could strip their bed/tidy their rooms/ pack up dirty washing etc helped too, then a noisy and energetic 30 minutes in the pool (I just watched!) and I think I had more than done my bit! SIL was still in London and frankly I felt v sorry for D having to pack up the house alone as they won’t be back now before Christmas-and then face. 4 1/2 hour drive home with 3 children on a Friday.
It took me that long too to get home so I was too late to collect Rosie, I’ll get her later this morning and life will be back to normal!
(Just wanted to show our Halloween tea table , can you see the “blood bags” which D and SIL they filled with dilute Ribena for the children!?)
Wishing you all a peaceful and pleasant day.
Good morning from a wet and windy Torbay.
Poor olddudders hasn’t got just a heavy cold - we’ve tested this morning and it is Covid. The first time he’s ever had it, in fact. We assume he picked it up during his journey last Tuesday. He had his fourth vaccination on the 27th October, so that wouldn’t have protected him.
Happy birthday, Greyduster! Enjoy your family's visit!
Obviously, no plans for today! I hope others enjoy their activities. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Morning Mick, morning All from a seriously soggy corner of Somerset. It’s falling down onto saturated ground.
BT conquered yesterday - why does it take so long - the x-rays occurred without waiting. The sun had emerged so a short, windy, sea front walk before some shopping. Not a bad day.
Mr C requested breakfast at a garden centre some miles away today, not so sure I’m keen having seen the weather, wary of swamped country roads. We’ll see when he wakes, a local lunch could be a better option
Birthday wishes greyduster,
. I’m pleased you’re seeing a doctor, mick, hope it’s helpful. Nearly there grandmattie, exciting times to come.
Thinking of all finding life a challenge, have the best day you can everyone.
Happy birthday, Greyduster. 🎉 🥂 🎉 Have a good one.
Good morning all. Had a beautiful drive over to south Perthshire yesterday - autumn in all its splendour and the colours are glorious.
Mick I'm so glad you're seeing a doctor and I hope he can help with something effective for you.
I'm not sure what the weather is doing out there but whatever it does won't matter - I'm just waiting for the birthday girl to come bounding through to get the day started. We leave at 9am to get a train into Glasgow where they have a "meet & greet" with Diversity at 11.15 and then we take the day from there ........ Little old Nanny will just go with the flow!
Have a good day everybody x
Happy birthday 🎂 Greyduster. I hope you enjoy your day.
Me too, I prefer to be ignored, but I hate to disappoint the family, so keep very quiet.
Good morning from Sefton.
Pleased that you’re gaining some weight, Mick. The check up with the GP should help you further. Mizuna, your coffee table sounds fun.
Family visiting today. I’ve finally (🤣) found the recipe for one product I especially bought…now for the others!
Have the best Saturday possible.
Happy Birthday Greyduster enjoy your curry and company 🎂🎉.
Morning from a very wet S Hampshire, the heavy rain woke me up, then I was cold, so I got up rather than fidget.
I have lots of Christmas stuffing to make today, my dear Dad’s recipe, much requested by the children and now their friends. It’s a washing up bowl, hands in job, then it’ll be frozen, ready to distribute nearer the time. After that the Saturday paper and bedding wash, new duvet to go on, I’ll let MrJ wrestle with that.
Have a pleasant Saturday, best wishes to poorlies and safe travel to those venturing.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. There’s a particularly gloomy sort of sunrise going on in South Yorkshire, as if it really can’t be bothered, but at least it’s dry. Today is my birthday, and of course a sad day without DH. I was all for sweeping it under the carpet, but DS will be down later this morning and the rest of the team will be here this evening, so we are having a curry supper. It’s not very often I get both my children together in the same place, so that will take the edge off it I hope.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning, it is hammering with rain in s somerset, I do expect some pops of sun
I did too much heavy lifting and twisting yesterday, cleared some bookshelves, dusted, repositioned shelves and managed to remove three full heavy shopping bags worth. My crafting books are now on a middle shelf and tomes, like materia medica etc are on the top shelf. I use the crafting books most. I have made very sure to have substantial weight on the bottom as the bookcase is 6` tall and oak, it is nice and stable.
Today, I am going to do a little bit of easy pilates and will be using my inverter to straighten my lower back and pelvis, consequences from yesterday. I need to get back into cycling for exercise but the routes I take have horrible wet sections with slippery leaves on them. I re-assembled my re-bounder in my hall yesterday, that sort of exercise is much kinder on my hips than stomping up and down the hill
Have a good day
Good morning from a mild, wet, slightly windy Cornwall. Coffee with a friend today (free for over-60's at our only department store) then more organising at home for when my daughter comes next week. Added some cuffs to the bottom of dark green cord trousers yesterday so will be able to wear them over my boots now. Also découpaged a coffee table with Tintin cartoons and PVA glue. Should be dried and useable by now.
Good morning from a very wet Bristol. We missed Cirian but have got full force from this latest band of rain, no wind though.
I had a lovely walk to Spanish yesterday, looking at the trees changing to their autumn colours. As most of them are still mostly in leaf, we shall probably be lucky, colour wise.
The afternoon was spent quietly.
DDand family are coming late this afternoon to help me move boxes for the workmen to start demolishing the wall on Monday. They are staying to dinner as the firework display they are attending is just down the road from me. I have to go to Waitrose today, to get stuff for the girls to eat. They are terribly fussy eaters😖
Church coffe, then loads of tidying up and sorting ready for my replacement bathroom. Yippee! 👏👏👏
I hope everyone has a quiet weekend, that the bangs and fizzing doesn’t disturb your pets too much. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩
