Good Morning Saturday 4th November 2023
(54 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Dark , but clear and dry outside here in brackley .
Today later this morning a appointment with my doctor to check me up and see if he can prescribe something .
Weight wise a slight up, but lo visits as to any number 2`s down .
Water seems key as regards to things by drinking the daily amount around 2 litres I think.
Leg swell still there but more exercise walking wise may help .
Take Care,
Mick

Happy Birthday, greyduster. Safe travels Urmstongran. 💐to those feeling sad.
Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 8°C. Good that you’re seeing your doctor, hope they can help.
There were quite a few fireworks going off last night, but not many loud bangs. I hope this means that people are opting for the less noisy ones that are available these days. I feel sorry for animals, they must be so frightened. I expect there will be more tonight, with places like the golf club holding their displays. The 5th tomorrow, so no doubt there will be more. MrB and I generally walk round the dock basin and pick up any discarded fireworks and rocket sticks the morning after, it’s surprising how many there are. He may have to do it alone this year. Nothing much planned for today, we’ll see how it goes.
I love the scenery around Aberfoyle and Loch Katrine at this time of year Taichinan, though I doubt I could climb Doon Hill these days! I always left a small gift for the wee folk 😊. We watched a documentary on YouTube about the Sir Walter Scott last night, it brought back some memories.
So sorry your DH has Covid Ashcombe.
Happy birthday Greyduster, a sad day for sure but I hope the family meal brings some comfort.
Have the best day you can, whatever you’re doing 🌹
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s raining. Looks chilly out. But Himself has just put what he needs for 5 days in his grip bag for Málaga tomorrow! All his clothes out there will be way too big for him now - but focusing on the positives here - he is so excited and grateful that his treatment all summer has enabled us to make this trip. He has endured so much without ever once complaining. He so deserves this mini break I can’t tell you. I’m slightly apprehensive but that’s my default setting these days anyway. Himself is just so confident and upbeat every day it’s a joy to see and have him with me.
Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton; supposed to be going to a rugby match this afternoon, so hope it clears up by then; it is quite sheltered where we sit, so might be ok.
My usual shopping trip yesterday, decided on a bacon roll in the M&S Cafe, but was disappointed with it, almost cold, bacon not cooked enough, a great slab of cold butter in the middle - won't bother again.
Collected my order, a new bath mat, bought with a voucher, and am pleased with it. Needed one for the main bathroom when family come at Christmas.
Did very little when I got home, read the papers, watched.tv and had a curry for dinner.
Hotpot awaiting reheating tonight when I get back from rugby which a glass of red will go with very nicely.
Happy birthday Greyduster!

Lovely Halloween table, Maw!
May Saturday be kind to all.
Thanks Kalu and Harri.
Big girls pants on today, chin up and pick up the loose ends.
X
Good morning all from so far dry Harrogate- I actually had washing hanging out on the line yesterday which was nearly dry when brought in!
Happy birthday 🎂Greyduster
Hope you manage to avoid Covid and your DH just has it mildly Ashcombe
Today DH and I have free tickets for the building and renovation show, so are going hoping to get inspiration for our house.
Yesterday I had DGS. We went out for a coffee then our trip to a child orientated garden was thwarted by puddles. When we got home I couldn’t get his favourite programme on so tried the cartoon version of Mr Bean - he loved it.
Have the best day possible folks
Goodness Grammaretto, I thought I was looking at a snapshot of somewhere in the med when I saw the Mediterranean blue sky in the stunning pic of your garden.
Georgesgran 💐 there are no adequate words.
Thank you Grandmabatty.x
Susan poor H. I hope it's nothing serious and he recovers quickly. And poor you!
Good morning from a dry NE.
Sister visited yesterday afternoon but had great difficulty getting a taxi home, we have a bus strike so the demand for taxis is high.
Sorry to hear your DH has covid Ashcombe, my SIL went down with covid a few days after travelling to Brussels on the train, he too had managed to avoid it for three years. I am now the only one who hasn't had it.
Happy Birthday Greyduster, enjoy your day the best you can.
My younger sister will visit this afternoon and bring some bread and milk and we will have a catch up with all the news.
Enjoy time with the family.
Georgesgran 💐
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s very wet.
Happy Birthday Greyduster 🎉🎁💐enjoy your curry.
Safe travel as you go from gloomy to sunny Urm ✈️🌞
I’ve some ironing to do and put a coat of paint on something and probably some crafting.
Have the best day you can all 🪷

I hope that the dr has some answers and useful advice for you Mick.
Hoping olddudders, Dollie, GrannySomerset and all under the weather are feeling better soon.
Happy birthday Greyduster💐
Enjoy your day Taichinan and all meeting up with family.
NanKate how lovely that your grandson is part of such a supportive group. It’s what we hope for for our grandchildren.
Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩
Morning from South Lanarkshire, I hope your doctor can help Mick and that you avoid Covid Ash. My DD1 has it again and I was unwise enough to suggest she was a bit run down and thus vulnerable. Now keeping my head down!
My sister in law was very confused again when I arrived yesterday but , as before, settled down after about three quarters of an hour and we had a nice afternoon.
Today DD5 is dropping off 11 year old DGD and we’re continuing with her sewing practice while DD joins a ‘Circle of Friends’ meeting, which helps support a young woman in her DH’s family who has quite severe learning difficulties. It’s an amazing system designed years ago by the girl’s mother, who is a nurse, now retired, and has given her daughter the best possible quality of life possible.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Happy Birthday Greyduster, enjoy your family time.
Many Happy Returns Greyduster
That blue sky Grammeretto! Could you waft some down here please?
Off to buy new wellies ( those toasty neoprene ones in a jolly colour hopefully). Looking forward to some serious sploshing!
Wishing everyone a good, safe weekend x
Good morning all from a not too bad at all day in Glasgow.
A crimson tinged sunset hopefully bodes well for a repeat of yesterday’s calm, milder sunny day.
Another at home day will give me the chance to tick off a few things on my never ending to do list to choose from. Can’t contain my excitement.
Happy Birthday Greyduster I am betting you will be glad when this particular first is over. Hopefully having your family around you helps to keep too many sad thoughts at bay 💐
Taichinan I miss my journeys to Perthshire at this time of year when the leaves change colour and the scenery is stunningly beautiful.
Kind thoughts to those with worries, hopefully a smooth pleasant day is ahead for all.
Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Yesterday was so washed out after covid jab spent most of the day sleeping we cancelled our planned meet up at the club.
Today we are over Redditch to friends.
Mick hope your GP can give you some answers and reassurance.
Ash hope Olddudders is not to unwell with it and that you manage to avoid it.
Greyduster birthday wishes 🎂🎉.
Taichinan enjoy your day birthday wishes to your Dgd.
Well its that time again full English calling.
Enjoy your Saturday whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning from Durham where it’s dry but cool.
Firstly, may I thank all those GN’s who posted regarding my late DH’s birthday. I didn’t go out at all, but reflected on his life and death, conscious of what he’d be missing now.
I’ve had a dreadful night with an awful, realistic, though impossible dream and woken with an almighty headache. I think yesterday and then the Stand up 2C theme on tv last night were responsible.
I’m not a fan of birthday celebrations either, but my 70th fell between DH’s death and his funeral. The DDs had bought me an amazing gift, so we shared some fizz in the kitchen and 3 neighbours joined us for a glass or two - more a gentle commemoration really.
Today, I’m dropping a friend off somewhere as we have no buses here - indefinite strike action.
Otherwise, no plans, other than trying to shift this headache.
Frustrating news of cancellations and some new poorlies today. At least gM has light at the end of the tunnel now and some GNs have birthdays. 🥂.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning from a soggy Sefton where it rained overnight.
I had a very successful mooch around my local retail park & came away the opposite of empty handed! I certainly made inroads into my Christmas list.
A totally empty weekend awaits , no plans whatsoever. I have had a couple of decent night's sleep so feeling a lot better. I might even tackle some garden tidying providing its not too soggy out there & the rain stays off.
Glad to hear Mick has a GP appointment, commiserations to oldd - it's amazing there are still folk who have avoided catching Covid (my OH is one) & Happy Birthday to Greyduster, enjoy your day with your family.
Have a good weekend all.
Raining but not biblically but think I shall stay indoors though I do feel rather better than yesterday. Not much oomph, though, so won’t rush to get up.
Loved the picture, Maw, and impressed by such imagination. Thinking of Urmston getting ready for what will feel like a big adventure after so long and ofOlddudders dealing with covid. Shows it’s still everywhere and we are still at risk.
Morning all, The Imp came into our bed at 3am, consequently I didn’t sleep well 😴
He was a good boy in the restaurant last night, I think it’s because he didn’t have his big brother to argue with 🤣
Will deliver him home at lunchtime then I will collapse on the sofa with my kindle.
Birthday wishes Greydyster 🎂
Poor OD Ashcombe fingers crossed you do not get it 🤞
Urmstongran safe journey tomorrow, I hope you have a wonderful time 😘
Have a good day folks 🙋♀️🦩
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 6°C.
Mick, it's reassuring that you will be seeing your GP and hope he can solve some of your health issues.
Happy birthday Greyduster, enjoy the time with your family.
Ash, I did wonder if OldD, might have Covid. I hope you manage to avoid it and he is not too unwell.
Yesterday didn't quite go to plan. DH was golfing and rather than wait for him to return and also mourning my loss of independence, I decided to go for my prescriptions myself.
I had the bright idea of visiting Asda, which is five minutes away from the surgery for a few essentials. This is the Asda which is next to TKMaxx, Matalan etc. 😍
Just as I was leaving, DS contacted me to say Dollie was unwell with tonsillitis, he was working from home, but DIL had to go out and could I sit with Dollie, while he caught up on some conference calls? There was also a request from Dollie to bring her a comic. 😁
I ignored the magnetic draw of TKMaxx 😔 and headed straight for the chemist, to hand in my script. The pharmacist suggested I wait, but twenty minutes later, I was still waiting and beginning to feel more and more lightheaded and my pain levels really high, due to the bilogics being stopped, so
I messaged DH to say I was coming home and could he take me to see Dollie. (Of course he would !) This is when he informed me that the PP was coming to visit in half an hour!
We did eventually get to see the poor wee thing. DD asked me how Dollie was. Just like all the Doll family, a dreadful patient! It was the petted lip which amused me, it reminded me so much of her daddy, who doesn't do illness. 🤣
We had a good laugh, when DS was on a video conference call as I was sneaking past his home office and the caller called out Hi Dollie! Peals of laughter ensued when DS said it was his mother, not Dollie. I have never been mistaken for a seven year old before. 🤣
The PP came to seek advice about how to deal with a delicate situation, I have tried to stand back from, but it involves several of my roles within the parish.
He also brought me paperwork, which he has no idea how to to deal with!
I have the parish bulletin to electronically distribute and the website to update. I'm going to be busy today.
Have a good day whatever your plans and best wishes for all the poorlies.
