Imagine a plate with all the different varieties of biscuits on it. Which would be your first choice and which one would you leave until there was nothing else? My first would be a Nice ( not easy to find these days) and I would leave the chocolate bourbon on the plate.

I'd take a shortbread and a plain digestive and leave everything else on the plate.

I'm starting to think I'm a bit odd as my first choice would be either a pink wafer or a bourbon. Mind you, if nobody seems to like either biscuit I could keep them all for myself.

For sweet biscuits I'd take the Nice but my favourite is Cheddars.

Dh bought some gorgeous cheese biscuits in M&S last week - ‘Cornish Cruncher’ biscuits. (After their Cornish Cruncher cheese.).
I’d rather have those than any sweet ones. Made a proper 🐷 of myself.

When Americans say ‘biscuits’, what do they mean - are they savoury?

American biscuits are what in the UK are called scones. Their cookies are more like UK biscuits, but many of them have eggs in, which must make them less crisp.

I'm not a regular biscuit eater and like them quite plain but made with butter ideally. Would eat Nice as they are quite plain - but not perfect.

Not a fan of any biscuit that's iced, pink, or lemon though.

The LU chocolate first the figroll or Garibaldi last, my father put me off them he called them,"Where flies go in Winter".Yuk!

My father called them ‘squashed fly biscuits’ but it never put me off!

Garibaldis first, though I’m quite partial to a Nice, too. Not really bothered about any others.

I'm on a diet again at the moment so if I saw a plate of biscuits I would fall face down it and eat the lot. I might leave the Jammy Dodger don't like them.

Round shortbreads with the sugar on top or shortbread with currants for me. Also McVities digestives or milk chocolate digestives. I would leave Nice and fig rolls on the plate.

Ali23 Wed 08-Nov-23 22:28:56

Dark chocolate gingers for me, and I would definitely leave the garibaldis or fig rolls.

LadyGracie Wed 08-Nov-23 21:20:29

MacVities digestives are my first choice - great to dunk and also with cheese. I would leave anything chocolate covered. Good job variety packs are available!

Esmay Wed 08-Nov-23 20:27:10

I love shortbread more than any other biscuit - then chocolate digestives and stem gingers .
