Imagine a plate with all the different varieties of biscuits on it. Which would be your first choice and which one would you leave until there was nothing else? My first would be a Nice ( not easy to find these days) and I would leave the chocolate bourbon on the plate.
Shortbread and chocolate digestives would go first, would probs leave most others but particularly jammy dodgers, party rings, ginger nuts, bourbons, custard creams ……could go on, I m not a huge biscuit lover
I remember buying loose broken biscuits from the market after the war then mixed biscuits 2/6 d a pound hoping there would be some chocolate ones in when we bought them. Now I always have packets of biscuits in the ‘secret’ cupboard for the grandchildren or any visitors usually jammie dodgers or chocolate digestive but my fav if I had to choose would be Custard creams yummy and you can keep your bourbon thank you.

Lotus (wish I hadn't been re-introduced to them recently), good quality shortbread (all butter obviously, not good for me but delicious), plus ginger ones. I can easily leave pink wafers, all the ones the grandchildren like, party rings, dodgers Jaffa cakes etc, thank goodness, as they are the only ones I always have in the house. I'm ok if the packet isn't opened, but no self discipline once they are. I must seem a very generous host if someone comes... 'please DO have some more....' 🤣
My father worked for McVities so as children we were spoilt for choice but for me: First off the plate would be plain rich tea biscuits. (Also loved dunking them in tea) Left on the plate would be any jam biscuits. Must admit as an adult I never buy packets of biscuits never have them in my home. Thinking about it, interestingly, my son never has them in his home which means my grandchildren never have them. I wonder who buys packets of biscuits now? We do buy brownies and large cake like cookies. Just not old fashioned packets of biscuits.
What’s old fashioned about a packet of biscuits? I’m bemused🤔
joannapiano I love the Tesco lemon shortie, I actually wish it was even more lemony. I tried the blood orange/dark choc ones, was very disappointed, thought they had very little flavour. My fortnightly Tesco delivery arrives tomorrow, I’ve ordered the clementine shortie, it’s the first time I’ve seen it online, so fingers crossed it’s as nice as the lemon.
Chocolate digestive for me. Rich tea biscuits left. (I keep a packet of tea biscuits for visitors, knowing I will have a biscuit for them and I will never touch them😁)
