Just put a note on it, maybe they don't know that it bothers you.

At least it was put in, I assume, the General waste bin.

My neighbour had a bag of dog poo put in their recycling bin, and it was checked and not emptied.

She was livid, put a strongly worded note on top of said bin for any dog walkers.

We have the same problem and ha ve now wired the bin lid down which is a bit awkward for me to undo, but it works.
Yes it is annoying.

If you had CCTV on your premises, could it potentially monitor the bin.

I am not talking about actually getting CCTV, but if you could put a note on the bin telling them not to chuck dog shit in , followed by a statement saying CCTV is being installed. That might work.

I'd be cross too. I would probably do as Kadinsky says and get up to see who thought this was ok. I would ask them in person to stop.
I hate dog poo bags festooning trees etc and would be seriously annoyed by someone doing this.
Sorry, not the calming you wanted from me - write a note at least!

Is there any way you could attach a lock to the bin? I think this is really unacceptable behaviour .. at the very least tape a large notice to the lid of the bin..

LadyGracie Sun 26-Nov-23 12:39:58

I'd feel the same I wouldn't want dogs poop in my bin even it it was bagged.

Kandinsky Sun 26-Nov-23 12:25:05

I’d feel exactly the same!

In fact, I’d get up early to see who’s doing it and go out & tell them to remove it!

Bloomin’ cheek.

BlueBelle Sun 26-Nov-23 12:22:07

The same happens to me my bin is used for blooming dog walkers to stick their smelly dog poo bags in if I don’t rush out to get it in

janeainsworth Sun 26-Nov-23 12:16:46

I’d be furious too Romola.
The wording I’d use on the bin would be
‘This is not a public waste bin. Please take your dog’s waste home with you.’
I’d be tempted too, to use a less euphemistic term than ‘dog waste’.

Juliet27 Sun 26-Nov-23 12:14:30

Yes, I agree - leave a notice.

rosie1959 Sun 26-Nov-23 12:14:22

Apart from the suggestion of putting a note on your bin or getting it in as soon as it has been emptied not a lot you can do so perhaps time to stop getting furious about it. Is it really worth it it's a bin?
Can't say I pay much attention to mine once they have been emptied life's too short.

granfromafar Sun 26-Nov-23 12:09:40

Calm down! Though you have every right to be annoyed. You could try taping a polite but strongly-worded note to the bin asking the thoughtless dog-owner to stop this habit and dispose of it in their own bin; it's worth a try. I suppose it's slightly better than dumping it on the ground, but still wrong.

Romola Sun 26-Nov-23 12:03:18

This is something that's really making me furious.
I live on a lane which is a favourite dog-walker's route. Some go out early for their dogs to do their business.
Every week, I put one or other of my dustbins out at the side of the lane. Dustbins are emptied early, at about 7 am.
Unless I fetch the bin back into my garden straight away (and why should an elderly widow have to get up at that hour?) there is almost always a packet of dog poo at the bottom of the bin, which will be there for the next fortnight.
I HATE IT and I'm starting to hate all dogs and their owners. I'm feeling cross right now, and every time I see my otherwise clean bins.
