Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, damp Carlisle where it appears to have rained overnight.
Yesterday I was quietly busy at various jobs on the computer and reading the papers. There are always things to be done and not enough hours in the day to do them in...I don't know how I ever managed to fit in a full time job once!
I'm hoping to go down town shortly, I've realised that, actually, Christmas isn't that far away and things need to be posted to Australia. While we're shivering here, DS2 says it's very hot there, I'm wondering if I could ever acclimatise to that....
Later, I shall launder the bedding. Holiday clothes are already cleaned and put away. There's no immediate prospect of them coming out again, my next holiday is to chillier climes.

You'll soon be enjoying your refurbished home grandMattie, all nicely timed to be finished before the holidays. It's looking great so far.

Have the best possible day everyone.

Good morning all and it’s damp but doesn’t feel quite so cold .

Yesterday we had lunch out with Ds1 and family - celebrating the birthday boys. Dh 74 too, Glammagran A lovely newly re furnished old pub, beautifully decorated, attentive and pleasant staff BUT the food was so disappointing! Cold plates, Luke warm food, the toughest roast lamb I’ve ever tasted, and soggy veg. Dh said the same about his. The rest of the family enjoyed theirs , so we didn’t complain and ruin the jolly atmosphere. Oh well you win some , you lose some!

Today I have Chimes group, shopping and Music and Memories, so a busy day. Dh will enjoy his empty with little pooch.

Happy birthday mr glammagran.
GG are you having all the family to stay again? Lots of work for you but I know you enjoy it 🎅.
Helterskelter I love looking in people’s Christmas windows as I walk the dog in the evenings 👀.

Hoping you all have a ‘good’ day 🍂🍁

Grandmachrisy47 Mon 27-Nov-23 08:20:59

Damp and grey here in Co Durham. Beset with vertigo this morning, pleased Monday isn’t a dgd walk to school day.
Yesterday I ordered Christmas cards with a printed message saying we were stopping sending cards after this year. Arthritic hands make writing difficult and painful. I was surprised at how cheaply I got them, just £1.02 each!! Just the envelopes to address. I used to print them onto labels but I’ve none left and have forgotten how 😂.
Have a good day all.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 27-Nov-23 08:20:14

Good morning from a wet milder South Downs. The dog is still snoring, so I’m drinking my tea in bed enjoying the time before starting the day.

Yesterday I made the Christmas cake - smells good! Packed snd put away. Must start in my Christmas cards - especially for those in far flung lands. Must also begin to put my mind to presents. Lists and more lists!

Giving the kitchen a complete clean this morning, including wash and polish all kitchen cupboards, tops, windows etc.

Yesterday has a long phone call from my son, who had just returned from his South American adventure, which sounded wonderful, and something I would like to experience, although not sure about eating alpaca or Guinea pig!
He is off for a long weekend in a couple of weeks to a Christmas market somewhere in Europe - not sure where.

Fish Tagine with almonds for supper.

Enjoy your day and

Peace and harmony to all.

Good morning Mick and all who follow, from a wet (but clearing up nicely) , Oxfordshire.
Dog day today so MrOops can try out his new walking boots and see if they actually are waterproof, if not we have a can of spray somewhere he can put on them.
Had a worrying text last night from the bank ending with ‘security alert if you haven’t authorised this please call your bank’ it took us over an hour to get through to speak to a person who either didn’t know what he was talking about or wasn’t interested, from the noise in the background a lot of people were having a good time. He ended up by saying ‘ anyway the fraud department closed at 5 so you’ll have to call back in the morning’
I certainly will.
I hope anyone who has coughs and sneezes just have colds and not Covid.
Birthday greetings to MrGlammagran .
Have a good day everyone.

Alygran Mon 27-Nov-23 08:11:48

Good morning from North Yorkshire. A wet start to the day.
Off to Richmond this morning for the carers group. We are doing Christmas crafts.
Dentist this afternoon.
Happy birthday mrglammagran
Hope everyone has a good day.

Marydoll Mon 27-Nov-23 08:09:02

Good morning all from Glasgow where it is 6°C.
You sound very organised Mick and your health issues seem to have settled down.

DH and I are loaded with the cold and very chesty, we think Snotty Lottie ( Babydoll ) is to blame. DH of course has double pneumonia and has cancelled the golf! 🤣

I had a very busy day yesterday at church. I went to grab a few people for admin purposes and ended up taking the Children's Liturgy, due to the fact they were short of leaders. I only went in to be an extra body! Once a teacher.......
The leaders asked if I could come every week and I said a very firm NO! I don't like children. 🤣

Today I have a meeting with the PP. I was getting tired of trying to pin him down about various issues and nothing being resolved. I hope he has all morning free. 😉
I shall need all my diplomacy skills, he is not the easiest person to deal with.

In the afternoon, I am going over to the Ebay Queen's for a glass of Prosecco. There will be five of us and this is the first time all five of us have gotten together since the Pandemic.
Unfortunately, the other granny will be there 😡 and I shall spend the time biting my tongue. DH has warned me to open my ears and keep my mouth closed! 😂
I find it very difficult to sit and listen to the nonsense she spouts.

GM Batty, our door bell no longer worked after we got a new door, so we bought a wireless one, which literally sticks to the door frame, no fuss at all. It plays different tones, including Jingle Bells, much to Dollie's delight.

I wish you all a pleasant day hoping that the Covid warriors are not suffering too greatly and you have your voice back Baubles.

Georgesgran Mon 27-Nov-23 08:08:08

Good morning from Durham. It seems as if the whole Country, so far, is wet and miserable
Coffee this morning with a couple of friends. I’m going early to pick up wine and flowers for one of them. It was her birthday in September, but they go away so much, we’ve hardly seen her to give her gifts.
Like RM I really should do something about Christmas cards later - no promises.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a very chilly and grey sky London.

I’ve had the most lovely weekend here with my 4 friends and after breakfast we will all go our separate ways to different parts of the country. Our times together have always been very special but seem even more so as we move nearer towards our 80s.

Everyone, staff in the hotel and restaurants, taxi drivers etc have been really kind to us. London is very busy and everything seems to be done at a speed which defeats us. But we take our time, laughing together much of the time. As we were in Trafalgar Square yesterday on our way to the National Portrait Gallery, a lady probably not much younger than us,smiled widely as she went past us and said she would like to join our lovely group.

Traffic was chaotic because of the antisemitic rally and we had a very long walk on returning to our hotel after a very late lunch as there were no buses and the road at the other end of the Strand was closed to taxis.

Now for breakfast and then home to Suffolk. Hope all keep warm today and have a peaceful day.

luluaugust Mon 27-Nov-23 07:55:19

Good morning from a grey W Kent. I am hoping to start on the Christmas cards today whilst the cleaner tackles the blinds in the bedrooms. Otherwise a walk this afternoon and that is it, I think a cold is coming in.
Happy Birthday to MrGlammagran
Best wishes for today

Jaxjacky Mon 27-Nov-23 07:51:12

Morning from a damp S Hants. Happy Birthday Mrglammagran 🎂, hope you feel better soon.
A lovely lunch out with our family yesterday, delicious food, a crackling fire and some good chat.
Voluntary phone day today, as MrJ’s car is broken he’s taken mine to work, I don’t need to go anywhere, but..
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from a wet but milder Colchester.
We have builders coming this morning to give quotes for an extension to house a downstairs loo. A neighbour had it done recently and DH has been hankering ever since.
I hate mess and upheaval (and loo cleaning) so I'm not so keen. I can see it's use as we age but the stairs are good exercise. We'll see.
A drive to Lidl for a big shop this afternoon and it's quizzy Monday on TV tonight.
Love to all 🦩 x

GrannyGravy13 Mon 27-Nov-23 07:33:38

Morning all from a wet grey S E Essex.

Three sets of Christmas bedding put on yesterday, three more to go. DH got the boxes of decorations down from the loft (over twenty of them 😱) will sort them out later.

Gym first thing then a trip to the big Sainsbury’s.

Have a good day everyone 🙋‍♀️🦩

brook2704 Mon 27-Nov-23 07:26:56

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark and looks cold and damp
Happy Birthday to your DH glammagran hope he feels a bit better soon and you can celebrate a bit later on when he’s feeling better
We’ve got DGS here so it’ll be the school run first thing then I’ve got a voluntering session later. Last thing will be aqua aerobics at the gym before getting home early afternoon.
Pleased you got your holiday sorted Roses always good to get away for a few days
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Susan56 Mon 27-Nov-23 07:25:41

Good morning from North Wales.Rain forecast all day.

Thank you for all your kind and supportive comments about the good results from my endoscopy.Urms, I cannot begin to imagine what you both went through that weekend back in April. It seems a very cruel way to be given such awful news.I am so sorry if my post triggered bad memories for you💐

DD1 and SIL are away for a few days so we are having a mini break in the countryside looking after the children.Nothing to do after the school run. Both children are still asleep after our busy day at the Christmas market yesterday.I will have to wake them soon if we are to get to school on time.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

RosesandLilac Mon 27-Nov-23 07:11:32

Good morning, it’s wet here in south Gloucestershire so a wellies walk this morning with a friend and the dogs. It doesn’t bother me if I’m dressed for the weather.
Yesterday I eventually found somewhere to stay in a cottage in the Brecon area, I honestly hadn’t thought it would be so difficult! We’ve booked for a week which is actually cheaper than 4 nights so can come home early if we want to.
I’m looking forward to just soaking in the views of Pen y Fan and going for dog walks somewhere different.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

HelterSkelter1 Mon 27-Nov-23 07:10:46

Good morning from a grey N Surrey. I like Monday mornings a case of thank goodness as I don't like Sundays so that has gone for another week.

Our little town is starting to look very sparkly now especially at 4.30 when it is almost properly dark. That's when I have a 3rd walk of the day. And can peep in front windows! Easily pleased!
Have a good Monday.

glammagran Mon 27-Nov-23 07:00:12

Good morning all.

On Saturday we went to our town’s Christmas lighting up. There was a fair, lots of stalls and fireworks to end with. The good weather meant it was incredibly over crowded so don’t know if we’d go again. The GCs enjoyed themselves though GS2 was furious not to get on the Fireman Sam bus on the small children’s roundabout as it was already nabbed.

Heard GS1 has qualified for county times in his swimming competitions. GD2 achieved personal bests and she’s only been swimming for a year. She was really good at gymnastics but her parents weren’t happy with the way she was being given diet sheets etc and being driven really hard to excel. She’s thin enough as it is!

Grandmabatty You deserve a medal for services to your grandsons 🏅I felt exhausted just thinking about your week. Sleepover here for the small people next weekend 😵‍💫.

Grandmattie your new bathroom looks really fabulous.

Granmaretto how wonderful to see the Northern lights. We were on a ship in Trömso, Norway but only saw them for a couple of minutes just after sunset.

Great news for you Susan56

DH is 74 today. He has a bad cold, cough and has lost his voice.

Have a good Monday everyone.

karmalady Mon 27-Nov-23 06:34:17

Good morning, rain and overcast with wind, yuk

I was very engrossed in a new pattern yesterday, tricky bits and very tricky fabric, 2/3 finished the first cosy top and I shall get the other two done this week, for my DDs who asked for them. Tbh the weather was not worth looking at, nor being in, so it was lovely to be so occupied indoors. Bed change, washing done and dried and had lovely food so, all in all, it was a very good day

Needless to say, I will finish my top later and keep up with daily housework, while playing cheerful music

Have a good day

grandMattie Mon 27-Nov-23 06:32:59

harrigran, if you are willing to try…. I have found that a poultice of Calendula lotion miraculous for burns and scalds. It is available from health food stores or online.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 27-Nov-23 06:31:13

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’ve no idea about the weather as I’m still in bed. Some old old friends are coming for lunch today. Yesterday I prepared a beef bourguignon which I’ll finish off this morning. Raspberry and strawberry crumble for pudding. I made the crumble mix and just need to sprinkle it on top and bake. The old friends don’t want to drive home in the dark so they’ll have to leave about 3 pm.
A busy week including lots of WI admin, Christmas pudding to make, weekly shop, book group, coffee morning and presents to wrap and post to my Australian relatives. Oh, and a hair cut after having to cancel twice.
Have a good day everyone.

Mizuna Mon 27-Nov-23 06:07:56

Good morning from Cornwall where it's wet, windy and a balmy 10°. Today it's my best pal's dad's funeral at the church where I was baptised/dunked aged 32. Then to her niece's for a long, relaxed wake served by caterers. Hope I can find something in my wardrobe to wear that's not very casual but not black either. Yesterday learnt wet-felting at a friend's house but not something that grabbed me, to be honest.

harrigran Mon 27-Nov-23 06:06:09

Good morning Mick, we have heavy rain this morning as the temperature rose during the night.
DD and SIL visited yesterday and we had dinner together, DD is in the UK until Tuesday but will be back for Christmas.
GD1 was away for the weekend, did an open day at Sheffield University, DIL drove her and GD's boyfriend. DIL has family in Sheffield which meant they could meet up.
Quiet day for me today as I still have a sore hand where I scalded myself on Saturday night.

Ashcombe Mon 27-Nov-23 06:04:20

Good morning from a damp but mild Torbay.

You sound like you are well organised in good time for Christmas, Mick!
I expect your DGS2 will enjoy watching the door being fitted and asking several questions starting , “Why …..?”, Grandmabatty!

Yesterday we had a good service in church and the hymns I had to play weren’t too difficult so all went well! Everyone was pleased to hear that £2,200 was raised at the Christmas Fayre.

Later I attended a discussion on Front of House issues at the theatre, called by the Chairman. It enabled me to feel vindicated in my decision to resign from the Committee - as DH says, the Chairman couldn’t run a bath!

No exercise class today as our teacher is ill. Rehearsal later for Cranford at Christmas.

I hope this is the start of a good week for everyone. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

grandMattie Mon 27-Nov-23 06:02:58

Good morning from a grey Bristol. It has rained in the night.
The flooring is being put in this morning. I don’t know at what time the men are coming nor how long it’ll take - certainly not the 25 minutes for the bathroom Lino!
I might go or not to Tesco this afternoon with my neighbour, if the Dimplex people have visited her. We have all been issued with all singing all dancing night storage heaters early in the year. Sadly, few are working properly and causing some hardship. I only switched one on and it seems to be behaving.
I really enjoyed watching “Handmade” final last night, the woodworking programme on C4. So pleased about the well deserved winner.
I hope today is kind to all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
