Good Morning all ,
No rain here , I’ve put the washing out ….. more in hope than expectation!
Stew in the slow cooker , I hope it’s ok , I intend to freeze it , or most of it , in case visitors get hungry !
Looked out flannelette sheets , for the visitors , they are a bit too warm for me . Strangely they smelt fresh , but the pillowcases didn’t , so the whole lot washed and hung out for a few hours
I’ve cards to make , enjoyable for me , but I hate the writing and addressing! Most are for local hand delivery , but the ones for the post had better be done soon !
Thoughts for all with difficulties, I don’t name anyone because I don’t want to leave anyone out 🕯️

Book group last night and hosted by member in her house with wine, cheese and biscuits. I took my home painted cards, but was the only one who disliked the book so was the odd one out..
In charge at music club today and must warm up as haven’t sung in a while, being away etc.

Good morning from a bright and frosty part of Central Scotland. Lunch out with two friends at a festively decorated restaurant yesterday. It matched the frost outside all white and sparkly. They had large feathered twinkling swans here and there which were a bit off putting. One of my friends with me has bi-polar and is not doing so well such a shame, not the same bubbly person she once was. Today Dh is curling but I don’t know what I will get up to. Hope your like your new specs Marydoll and your Gs hospital appointment goes well Grandmabatty.

More housework and admin this morning and I must finish re-arranging my sitting room after installing the new hifi. Then, down to those Christmas cards! The stamps are certainly expensive these days, probably they should hand out a medicinal brandy when they quote the price.

I share your concerns about family being distant Alygran. Mine are down South and, while the thought doesn't generally bother me, it does when I'm feeling really unwell. I seriously considered the move when I downsized but property down there is radically expensive compared to here. So Carlisle it is, at least I'm now at one end of a main railway line and a motorway.

I'm sorry for your tough day yesterday but you probably did your friend good.

Good morning from a grey miserable NE after yesterday's torrential rain.
Spent the day doing fiddly little jobs and sorting cards, I managed to write about half of them.
DS wants a new tablet for his birthday on the 18th. SIL was out shopping, saw the tablet and bought it for me.
I only buy Christmas gifts for GDs but no suggestions yet as to what they would like. Last year they got gift cards for various clothing and beauty shops.
Housework today because tomorrow is going to be busy.
Enjoy your outings and thoughts are with little ones having medical appointments.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the temperature is currently 4°C. We had torrential rain during the night. No plans at all for us today so we will just hunker down and keep cosy. I met my neighbour for coffee yesterday afternoon. She needed to talk and cry. I came home feeling drained and very sad.

Good morning from Durham. I haven’t been out, but it’s raining and the snow has been washed away. Sore throat and bunged up, so with no plans, I intend to refresh my hot water bottle and bring it and a mug of tea back up to bed for an hour, until the house warms up.

Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. Always a busy day.
We are going to a presentation evening for our local Air Cadets this evening. DH has recently retired after volunteering for them for many years. We still go to events though.

Less cold and not actually raining after yesterday’s biblical downpour nearly all day. Cars are parked in our (higher) bit of the Close so obviously the river levels are still high. Supermarket shop a bit early because the grandfather clock’s workings are due back this morning, flooded lanes permitting.

This afternoon will be devoted to doing the cards, easier if I can get the labels to print without bad language. Takes much longer if the envelopes have to be hand written but printer playing up is not a help. Hope everyone has a reasonable day.

Good morning and hoping for no rain today, my weather station reading was 55mm of rain in just the one day, more than a months worth. Many many areas were flooded, surface water because the drains were overfull. People stranded all over and worried about travelling. Schools closed and some areas reverted back to being islands. The police ran out of road-closed signs.

A wonderful christmas lunch, much chat and I got to sit by new people, more potential friends in sight. I bought 3 giant balls of yarn on the way home, to make a gorgeous jumper, cost very little and I am copying one of the ladies, who was knitting that jumper. So lucky to have an old style wool shop here

Good morning from Shropshire where it is raining.

Yesterdays hospital visit was very efficient.X-ray done and consultant seen before the time of my appointment.He said it was no wonder the steroid injection in my shoulder hadn’t worked as the X-ray showed no nice round socket just a flat piece of bone.The plan is MRI, physio and surgery if I agree.Lots to think about.

Today is Christmas prep and packing for our few days away before Welsh class tonight.

I hope little man’s appointment goes well Grandmabatty and that your daughter gets her scan results and biopsy very soon.Poor girl has been through so much and these delays are cruel💐🙏🏻

Good morning from Glasgow, milder today and yesterday’s rain washed away the snow, two days of the stuff was enough, a pretty sight but lethal underfoot.

Any journey I have to make just now has me leaving 10mins earlier due to roadworks still ongoing, they are everywhere, worst of all, no detour signs until it’s too late and I have to drive all around the houses.
Every day this week is peppered with appointments for jobs that need the attention of professionals, which I am not. Boiler service this morning, double wrought iron gates installed and a phone consultation with our GP regarding DH’s meds.

I’m sorry to read of your goddaughter’s troubles Corner, hopefully a solution is found soon.

The boiler woman has arrived, one job down, ✔️

I’m off to the hairdressers just before 9. Not had my hair cut since before my hip op’ and the length is driving me mad so will be more than happy to get it done
Afterwards we are collecting MIL and taking her to a local ish garden centre emporium where they have a really good restaurant. We shall have an early Christmas dinner and then a mooch around. Sure to buy something.

Good morning from a dry and milder feeling Suffolk. Thankfully no more rain as the lanes around here are flooded in parts.

The post office in our nearest town was heaving yesterday and I queued for over 20 minutes just to buy some large first class stamps and then couldn’t quite believe the price at just under £2 per stamp!

I haven’t started to write any Christmas cards( and am most impressed by those of you who have finished) but,if I had,I couldn’t have posted them in the box outside the office as it was so full the post could be seen above the slot.

Not much excitement here today but,in these gloomy dark days,time spent in the warmth of our cottage is very much valued.

I hope those venturing further afield for whatever reason,have a satisfying journey with positive outcomes.

Good morning from a wet South Downs , where we have had enough rain to sink a battleship this autumn.

I have finally caught up more or less with the laundry, now it is the ironing☹️.

I started feeding a pair of foxes earlier on in the year, as they looked so pitifully thin and weak. I never bother to hang around to see them, but my goodness I did last night, and what a magnificent pair they have become, with the most beautiful coats and huge tails. They really are lovely animals.

A sparrow hawk is also making its presence felt in the garden - interestingly the magpies, crows and seagulls ignore it - obviously no threat. The blue tit population has grown this year 🤞 this winter won’t be cruel to them.

Son is off to Draculas castle/Romania and Christmas markets this week.

I must absolutely get the flu jab this week, I’ve had the covid jab - needed it for going into hospital, but I opted not to have the flu jab as well as it always affects me and I wanted to feel as well as possible. So MUST get it done this week as we will be socialising a lot more in the run up to Christmas.

Hope a couple of stitches sorts out the little local difficulty GB

Good morning Mick and all. It's 'warmer' today on the Angus coast - 3° and forecast to be sunny. It's still pitch dark so we'll have to wait and see.
I achieved everything on my to do list yesterday so feel quite virtuous. Now for today's! It's tai chi first, then a quick dash to the fish shop before handing my car to the garage for its MOT - with fingers crossed.
I don't usually have nightmares, but last night I had a corker. I'm afraid of heights, but in this dream I was perched on a precarious shelf hanging from the top of the Empire State Building! I didn't enjoy it one bit! All interpretations gratefully received.
Grandmabatty I hope little dgs2 gets on alright with his hospital appointment, poor little chap.
Mizuna how interesting about your grandfather and father. Amazing how skills and talent are passed down through the generations!

Morning from damp, 4 degrees S Hampshire.
I hope the little chap is sorted out swiftly Grandmabatty.
Voluntary phone yesterday was busy, one call to sort this morning., we came ‘a close fourth’ in quiz last night, could do better!
Today I need to phone the local tree man to sort out delivery, it was ordered ages ago, write cards and post them, meanwhile the bedding will be washing away.
Hopefully today is negative day corner it’s been a long haul for you both.
