Good Morning Friday 8th December 2023

Morning all. After a hectic morning I’m just starting to read your posts. Dgd was dropped off late this morning so was late for school! It’s left me slightly discombobulated 😀.
Went to a local town yesterday for a pedicure, manicure and eyebrow treatment. There used to be a direct bus but it was stopped earlier this year. The journey now involves two buses and a wait in the middle. I was like a drowned rat when I finally got home. Pilates last night and after nine months I can honestly say that I’m now feeling the benefits of the classes.
I must, must, write my Christmas cards ( she says hopefully).

Good morning all!

Last night for dinner I had a Clayton Park Bakery chicken and gravy pie with corned beef and tuna/sweetcorn, washed down with a 500ml bottle of Inch's Medium Apple Cider and piggin' gorgeous it was too!

At work yesterday, hubby saw a mouse by my right foot! He scurried off out of the door when he realized he'd been seen! What a gorgeous little babe! It was absolutely PIDDLING down all day, torrential and freezing cold so we hope he found somewhere warm and safe to stay.

Good morning everyone on a lovely sunny morning here. It’s been so dark and wet, it’s good to see the sun again.
Best of all both daughters are flying in this morning for a pre Christmas weekend visit. SiL coming too but I doubt that he and DH will get a word in edgeways.

I keep seeing mention of Christmas cards. DD’s are taking family ones and friends local to them back with them………
I'd better get on and do them then!

Good morning from a dampish Central region. Marydoll your disasters continue. I would have wept too especially at this time of year with Xmas food in there. Had a busy day yesterday trip to M&S for some food goodies then several other shops visited. GD2 came after school as usual but she is very easy to entertain.
In the evening we were at the theatre. Well of sorts GD2 goes to Rubber Chicken Theatre club which is drama from the tinies right up to older teenagers. They put on shows at the end of the term and this year it is the pantomime “Knight”. It was hilarious. All the little mistakes just make it. At one point the lady who runs it had to come on instead of one of the little ones as they had to go to the toilet. Our Dg was as they say buzzing when we took her home goodness knows when she went to sleep. Another two performances to go. Family spread out so somebody at each performance. Have a good weekend if you can.

Yesterday I went to the pharmacy to collect a prescription and I remembered to send a birthday card to a niece. Nothing in the diary for today, so I shall see what the day brings. 2 outings in 2 days, what a giddy exciting life I lead . If the weather stays calm after yesterday’s storm I may get out for a short wobble. MrB will lend me his arm.

Good news on the eye test Ashcombe. Hope you’re recovering after the nasty fall BlueSapphire, be careful with that ankle. Hope your freezer and freezer contents are insured Marydoll, what a hectic day. We used to visit a Korean restaurant in Newcastle when I was working on a project there Liberty, the food was always delicious.

Oh, I've just lost my post! Fumble fingers to the fore! So good morning again. It doesn't seem to be raining at the moment on the Angus coast and I think I can see a suspicion of blue through the dark clouds. Wouldn't that be lovely.
What really was lovely was the smile and giggle your picture brought, Roses. What is it that's so appealing about Highland cows? My sense of humour too 😁

Nothing special to report from here. Numbers were down at tai chi yesterday - combination of weather, busy-ness and hospital appointments. There should be a good turnout next week as the three morning classes join together before going out for our Christmas lunch. I hope our small hall turns out to have elastic walls!
I have only managed to read the photos so far in this morning's thread, but I must be off now - did I hear someone mention Christmas cards .......?

Shocking weather yesterday as it rained continuously. More rain forecast for later today.
Unfortunately, I’m nursing a cold, so I try and do ‘stuff’ in the mornings, then lock myself in at home later with Day/Night Nurse. It’s frustrating, but I’ve written and posted my cards and I’ll start wrapping gifts today.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast. Off to the final art group meeting before Christmas with hand made cards for all. Not sure if we are lunching afterwards as we have done in the past…I’m quite happy to come home (unusual for me) and finish my cards.
Stayed in last night and watched a black and white film “A Confession” with Montgomery Clift, a very good Hitchcock film. I do like old films.

Sorry you are not enjoying rehearsals Ashcombe, I know that feeling, but glad you are still able to drive.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s now sunny and 5°C after torrential rain woke me earlier around 6am. Too early for us to stir!

I’ve got a reflexology session again at the Macmillan Centre late morning and they are holding their Christmas fair too. I bought raffle tickets last week. We plan to go over together and Himself will sit for a chat while I have my treatment.

Good morning from another looking dreary day in Suffolk. We both slept until after 8.15 this morning which is most unusual for us. Luckily neither of us needed an early start.

I’m off to Norwich for lunch with an old friend who lives in Norfolk. She used to work at UEA and suggested we met at a Korean restaurant. Not sure I’ve had Korean food before but am sure it will be good.

I noticed when skipping through the posts which I’ll read with my second cuppa mention of the restaurant in Copenhagen on the tv last night. I couldn’t help thinking,without knowing the costs involved, that the obviously huge amounts of money spent on the business could have been used to do something for the less fortunate rather than the privileged. Perhaps it’s not appropriate to say this on this lovely friendly thread.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it seems there might be some sun today...in between the forecast showers I suppose.
I seemed to have been busy all yesterday though not a lot to show for it apart from the disappearance of a pile of ironing.
Today, I'm out shortly to get my hair cut and do a little necessary shopping including stamps for my cards which I will finally get in the post. Then a visit to the hifi dealer for some instruction in using my new and complicated system. A former neighbour had the mantra 'keep it simple'....it's just not possible when it comes to tech these days.
Marydoll it all happens to you! Having your freezer defrost just before Christmas is seriously upsetting. Hope you can rectify matters without too much trouble and expense.

Good morning from Shropshire.Rain forecast but not as heavy as yesterday.

Nothing much planned today apart from waiting for a couple of deliveries and walking into town to collect the car from the garage at some point.

My younger daughter is going to Calais today with a group of ten other teachers.They are taking tents, coats and toiletries to people in the refugee camps.I am proud of what she is doing but will be glad to have her home again.

Mary I feel your pain.Our freezer failed in the summer and like you there were only a couple of items we could use.

Ash I am glad there was positive news from the eye test.

Grandmabatty I hope the meeting with the social worker goes well.

Yesterday wasn’t nearly as wet as we had been promised and today looks dry ish too, a great relief as everything is still soaking from the downpour earlier in the week. Oldies coffee morning and a small local shop, post cards and do some admin the sum total of today’s activity after a rather wasted day yesterday faffing about.

Morning all, I haven’t read your news yet as the 8yr old slept over last night so we have had to read, play and of course he wanted a cooked breakfast 🍳

Off to the gym first thing, and hopefully the men will start laying the tiles in the garden today 🤞

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It seems to be mild. OH is out for the day so I will make a concerted effort to get on wrapping presents and writing cards! Before that I must collect my monthly prescription. I’ve also got the minutes from Wednesday’s WI meeting to type up. I couldn’t do so yesterday as I was in a very soggy Winchester!

DH noticed one of his indicators not working so that's something we need to sort. No other plans otherwise.

A relatively calmer day ahead after a busy week, a not too tasking admin, yet another script to collect then I can relax later at the hairdressers which is also a social visit with other regular clients.
