At least one baby has died from suffocation when a bow was left on during a nap.

Am I just becoming a crabby old git or are these bows ridiculous?
Some of them are huge.
Why should a tiny baby have to tolerate a band round their heads? It needs to be quite tight to keep it on and that cannot be comfortable. And you see pics of babies lying in their cribs with them on - it only needs the baby to wriggle around and the band slip round their neck for a danger to be created.
Is it just me ........ ?

Even worse if it’s putting on your underpants Galaxy 😂
As long as I don't die knickerless I'll be happy! 😂
Or both legs down one hole!
I agree with you Luckygirl . I think they look uncomfortable but I guess they prettify an ugly baby in the eyes of some.
I had a girl after 3 boys and couldn't believe the number of ridiculous frilly dresses she was given. She wore none of them.
I was a crabbit young woman!

😂😂😂
I'm going to be annoyed and embarrassed if I die putting on my knickers Galaxy
At least that would get people talking.

If I die putting my socks on I am going to be so irritated.

A little off topic, but I have been disturbed over the last few winters to see small babies with nothing at all on their heads. Only last week, in bitter cold and with a fierce wind blowing, a Dad was wheeling his baby briskly along the High Street. The child was blinking as the cold wind hit her face - she had no head covering at all, and no gloves or scarf. Parents who treat tiny children in this way must be attempting to bring up a race of Spartans.
I see this all the time and it’s all I can do not to stop the parent and say something.Usually the Mum or Dad is rugged up themselves in cosy hat and scarf!

People die putting their socks and underpants on, Every death matters but nothing in life is absolutely risk free. As I see it, so few deaths suggests that the activity is considerably safer than putting a child in a car, or a bath.
But people have a choice.
Babies don't.

Yes I would cringe, baby and small children and dogs are not our fashion playthings …buy a Barbie 🤣
I think those bows especially on a bald head are daft and serve no purpose and I m not a crabby old lady I ve always thought they are daft …but…. you re right it’s no one’s business but the parents but we can quietly think what we like 😀
Or we can noisily say what we like about the matter or dislike come to that. Forums aren’t designed for everyone to agree with everyone else.
I think a bow on a bald head looks a bit strange too just as Hairbands and slides look a bit strange on an old head, either bald or with hair.😁
They are an abomination. Absolutely ugly and totally pointless

isn't it largely a class signifier.
Shall we guess then?
My money’s on chav! 😂
I have seen affluent young women, complete with baby and head bow!
I actually had to read thatt comment twice!

When I had my two you weren't meant to put the baby in the bath for the first couple of months you were meant to jiggle and balance them on a towled knee while washing them with a soaped face cloth one for top and one for bottom.
I can remember giggling with other young mums in the maternity hospital when one mum oversoaped her baby and it shot out of her hands into the bath.
Leaving one alone in a bath that is a different matter.

I’ve noticed that, too.

One death - and how many millions or billions of children have worn these bows round the world, how frequently? Anything can kill you, if a freak event occurs.
If the babies did not like wearing them, they would have pushed them off. Anyone tried to get a baby to keep gloves, shoes, socks on them when they do not want to wear them.
Why put any clothes on babies anyway, unless they would otherwise be cold. All clothes are cultural statements - look at all those clothes with frills and ribbons and lace.
As long as the baby is happy why get concerned about what they wear. have a look at what you are wearing first,
Ah, only one death mentioned on this thread so not at all significant......
Fuss over nothing....
For heavens sakes, newborns CAN'T push them off their faces.
I'm really shocked at the way this is being trivialised. How many near misses have there been? How many deaths not widely reported?
This is a bit of a Christmas Grinch thread 💖💙
I agree, they look ridiculous and are totally unnecessary, as well as being a potential danger. It seems that we are in the majority. 😊

It's been around for decades. I remember people putting these bows on their babies when I had DD almost 28 years ago
Ridiculous and dangerous. I have never heard anyone comment on this topic before and am pleased the majority think the same.
It’s all very subjective isn’t it? Personally I’m firmly with luckygirl, thoroughly dislike seeing them for all the reasons other have given. Our teenage granddaughters on the other hand think it makes babies look cute and every female baby should wear one We’re hoping it will be many years before the teenagers have a baby to dress in hope the fashion will have disappeared!
