M&S 12 days of Christmas

I saw that M&S were doing this again this year. I'd been disappointed last year but feel luckier this year. I got a nice hand cream and a packet of Florentines as well as a bag of fresh baked cookies or doughnuts with my usual Sparks card.
I know others were very lucky last year. Anyone get gin this year?

Definitely not the case that if you don’t spend much with them then the freebies are not so good….I spend a fortune with them throughout the year and my freebies were dismal!

I have just received an email telling me I have won a bottle of light up liqueur in the draw for opening all 12 doors in the 12 days of Christmas.
Now if only I could get to an M&S…..
Sadly another missed opportunity.

I also received the "free" lip balm which was not available in two stores. Same thing happened to me last year. Very disappointing especially when some have received several freebies.
Do freebies reflect the amount spent in store? My spending has dropped due to the closures of stores nearest to me.

I got a free lip balm and some chocolate coins this year plus lots of discount offers which I didn't use. Last Christmas seemed more generous (got a bottle of gin last year plus lots of other gifts) though if we have opened all the windows there is a special draw for a grand prize of a 10K gift card.

Forgot to open the first six, discounted offers in the rest and some free chocolate coins

Lip balm and a bag of chocolate coins exciting ! Did use 20% off pyjamas for dd Christmas present.

Aveline Thu 14-Dec-23 06:27:13

Of course it's a marketing ploy!!!

dragonfly46 Wed 13-Dec-23 22:52:55

I got free hand cream and a large poinsettia in a pretty tin.

NannieDeb Wed 13-Dec-23 22:45:43

I got the diffuser on Day one, and luckily it was in stock , it was priced at £6 and I used the 20% off biscuits but the rest have all been % off things that I didn’t need/want. And I missed day 6 . It’s nice to get something for nothing but agree that it’s all a marketing ploy to entice us into stores.

Apologies for my irrelevant post ! I see others have already made the same point.

Lyn246 Wed 13-Dec-23 22:33:34

Am I being cynical when I wonder whether the value of the treats/gifts depends on how much you ve spent shopping in M&S? I got a free croissant!

Amalegra Wed 13-Dec-23 19:24:07

Had a few good offers and some freebies. Unfortunately as M&S have thoughtfully closed my local branch, I have to travel too far to have the privilege of shopping in person! My activity is confined to online only, which I do admit to doing on occasion. I miss the convenience of popping in when I feel like it, but despite the hype it IS just another chain store after all. And John Lewis/Waitrose are much nearer where I live!

I didn't know this She777 I missed 2 doors!
Also if you opened all 12 doors you go in the draw for a number of cash prizes and top prize is £10k.

I had a bottle of perfume, a dupe for one of Muglers Alien scents.

4allweknow Wed 13-Dec-23 17:56:35

All money off offers, not even a bag of coins!

Teebles64 Wed 13-Dec-23 17:47:32

% off offers and a free reed diffuser that was out of stock in both local stores. Underwhelming.

grannydarkhair Wed 13-Dec-23 17:42:25

I used to think that the amount of money you spent in M&S throughout the year determined your offers and assumed that the more you spent, the better the offers. But I now wonder if it’s the opposite, and they give the better offers to those who don’t shop often in the hope of getting them into the stores. I doubt if it’s just random, there’s bound to be an algorithm/s involved.

NanaBabs1 Wed 13-Dec-23 17:39:54

Free frozen croissants, free gin liqueur, 20% off biscuits, 20% off Christmas cake, all of which I took advantage of. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick as the saying goes! Other offers not for me. Don’t think the offers are based on money spent - I’m certainly not up there with the big spenders!

The advent promotion was useless to me this year.

singingnutty Wed 13-Dec-23 17:09:56

I don't have a Sparks card as I am rarely near an M & S so was interested to hear about all this. Is it actually worth getting one for the few times I go? I have actually been in their cafes a couple of times recently and bought a down jacket as well. Do they have any offers on money off in the cafes? Seem to remember years ago with another version of their card there was.

jerseygirl Wed 13-Dec-23 15:56:20

I dont bother with this as they closed down our m&s and our next nearest one is 2 buses travel away so its not worth it for me.

Sarahsw19 Wed 13-Dec-23 15:15:13

Got free hand cream on day 1, but took a few visits to different M&S shops to actually get it
Then free liqueur the other day . Otherwise all money off offers. Nice though .

Fletcher1 Wed 13-Dec-23 15:11:36

Amazingly I got a free hanging Christmas decoration and a free tub of mini bites so very lucky

Fussychick Wed 13-Dec-23 14:59:07

Apart from the usual discounts, I got a Mini Panettone and a box of mince pies. Last year I got a few prizes, mainly chocolate but the local store never had any of them in stock.

Rusume Wed 13-Dec-23 14:49:33

I got handcream and a bottle of prosecco this year!

Aveline Wed 13-Dec-23 14:07:11

If it was connected to how much I'd spent I'd be winning big every day!!
