Good morning all.
Managed to get all the decorations up yesterday , amazing how long it takes. Really enjoyed setting up my new little festive village.
Going to a large retail outlet with a friend later this morning.
This evening to a flower workshop.

Good morning, it’s cold but bright with a clear (ish) sky, we had a sunny day yesterday so hopefully today will be the same.
We went to a garden centre yesterday where they have a Pavers I stirs shop, sadly no boots that fitted MrOops, then went to an. Actual shoe shop in another town, again no luck. So, back onto the computer for an online shop. We will see what arrives and if they fit.
A nothing day today, some housework needs to be done and some laundry. Dog is at the vets so not be here until Thursday, we do miss her when she stays at her own home.

Good morning from a wet and mild South Downs.

Everyone on GN doing all the traditional stuff in the run up to Christmas. Our GC are 18 and 23 now so we are lucky to see them on Christmas Day let alone at other times! Although they are dear boys. Well, men I suppose😮😮.

I am cooking a late lunch for my sister - the one who is recovering from a having a melanoma removed from her scalp. It looks a lot better now that the staples have been removed. The scar stretched from ear to ear and down the middle. Hopefully her hair will soon grow and cover it. She has been so upbeat and cheerful (of course she has had wobbles - she is human) about it though.

Our menu is goats cheese, beetroot and rocket salad, roast beef, roast potatoes, roasted parsnips and carrots in honey, sprouts and Yorkshire puddings with “real” gravy. Then I’m doing an apple, brandy and mincemeat tart with ice cream.
Wine as appropriate 🙂. That should see us through to Christmas!!

Must start with the sweet shortcrust pastry this morning. I thought I’d save energy and buy it but, it has only palm oil in it and other unrecognisable ingredients so I gave it a miss. Shame, I’m sure there would be a market for proper real food.
Especially this time of year.

Well enjoy all your varied days folks I shall look forward to reading the result tomorrow. Donkeys and Cranford included (such a pretty Christmas scene I bet).

Good morning from a wet W Kent. DF coming to visit this morning for a cup of tea, I have warned that I have now developed two black eyes after my fall. I do look rather scary at present. This afternoon I will try and pack up the last couple of parcels. DDIL should pop by as she is collecting DH’s prescription for us.

Morning all from a grey wet S E Essex, unless it stops raining anytime soon I cannot see my workers doing anything in the garden today. They didn’t do much yesterday as their boss was elsewhere 😡

Wrapping gifts today and finalising my lists.

Eldest AS and wife are now coming to us on Boxing Day and will stay for a few days, probably a week. So a big rethink of our plans. Families never fail to surprise!

Good morning from the NE where it is raining and must be heavy because I can hear it from my bed.
Yesterday I decorated the tree but the downside is my knees and shoulders are aching with bending and stretching.
My BIL visited the plumber yesterday for me because I never received an email he sent, turns out he had got the address wrong. I was starting to panic because I can not afford any further delays to the en suite repairs, 18 months without a working toilet.
SIL did my gift shopping for me yesterday, he lives within walking distance of the Metrocentre which makes it convenient.
Today I should tidy the freezer in readiness for festive food.

Thanks Ash. I got my allotment just after my first knee replacement and shuffled around it on my bum until I could walk properly. It's the pre-op time that's the challenge. So glad the play went well. 😍

Good morning all from the Black country still dark but at least it's dry.
Hairdressers today then find a post office ours closed down bit by bit we are losing all necessary shops to be replaced by take aways the chemist that closed is about to reopen as a Nando's type shop, butchers became a Pizza hut still waiting on what the post office and our bank will become.

Morning Mick. Morning All from a currently dry with heavy rain forecast corner of Somerset.

Mr C was not a fan of his cardiac rehab session yesterday. One down, four to go. Oh dear. My morning was much more pleasant. Finished Christmas odds and ends shopping and enjoyed a cuppa. Managed to get the car washed in the afternoon, it was seriously mucky.

No idea today, maybe a visit to our local museum once the groceries have arrived , don’t think it’s going to be a day to be outside. Goodness, I may feel forced to dust!

With thoughts for all finding life hard going. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

We’ve got workmen arriving this morning to start on the new en-suite - not the best timing just before Christmas but it’s when they could fit us in. Once they’re here and have got started I’ll be off out somewhere to avoid the noise and disruption

I hope things soon return to normal in your surroundings, grandmaMattie. It's good to hear that the toddler party went off well; I expect the mothers enjoy themselves as much as the youngsters!
I do hope you can get through the day ahead, Grandmabatty despite your poor night. It’s hard with lively little ones when you aren’t fully well.
The treasure hunt sounds like fun, Mizuna. I imagine your allotment could prove a problem post knee surgery but I guess you’d be sorry to lose it.
I love the idea of the “enthusiastic donkey”, kittylester! The joy of nativity plays!

Our play went well and was much appreciated by the audience. Most of the cast and a few of we carollers enjoyed a relaxing bar session afterwards.

Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton; mild out according to Alexa, 9°C outside, showers forecast this afternoon.

Finished my decorations yesterday; have only really gone to town on the sitting-room, but have also put a few in the hall and dining-room, and have also got a mini tree with fairy lights in the front porch.

Hairdresser this morning, just a 5 minute walk to the end of the road. I shan't be attempting any more walking than that today, as my ankle is. still not quite right.

Then back home to do a couple of sewing jobs while it's still light; the fur trim has come adrift on a coat hood, and a new jumper needs the welt/ribbing adjusting as it is a bit baggy - fits perfectly everywhere else.

Off to make toast and jam! Home-made Bolognese from the freezer for dinner tonight, with a glass of red...

Good morning all. Dark & damp here in Sefton with more rain on the way.
Nearly 100% attendance at our singing group yesterday. Almost at the limit to the number of people we can take. Lots of laughs & we all departed in high spirits. An uplifting start to the week.
Lovely, friendly WI Christmas lunch yesterday. I'm a newbie so still getting to know people. The food was good as well.
Nursery pick up this afternoon, entertain/be entertained by DGD2 for a couple of hours, stay for tea then a dash home (through horrendous rush hour traffic) as DH is leading a Christmas 'singalong' outside (🥶) a local pub. It's a small ancient inn, very olde worlde, but literally no room at (or inside) the inn. Thermals required.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a still dark South Yorkshire. I think it’s going to be a damp day. I put the Christmas tree up yesterday. A lot of effort for one four foot tree, but it looked okay. I don’t intend to do the full fig with the mantelpiece this year, or lights round the windows. All I need to do now is get a wreath for the front door. Volunteering at the school this afternoon.
Hope Wolfie’s nativity goes well, Kitty! My imagination is working overtime on the enthusiastic donkey!😁

Good morning from a rainy but mild Colchester. I've just sent DH to put the bins out as it's hammering on the roof and windows. We can't put them out the night before as foxes and other wildlife attack them. They can unlock the food waste bin and our general rubbish is in black sacks. Our area is deemed suitable for some wheely bins but not for others.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. I hope the rain dies down before I go.
We went out last night to see DGS1 enrolled as an Air Cadet. He's taller than me. Where does time go?

Good morning from the east coast of Fife.
It’s to be a weather warning today, rain I’m afraid but I’m staying indoors where it’s nice and cosy.
I went to M&S yesterday with a complaint letter re the till person not accepting my love2 shop voucher he was young and inexperienced on the till however I was so embarrest by his manner and attitude towards me.

The manager was so apologetic he looked in my basket and said don’t pay for those flowers instead why don’t you take a bigger bunch he was so lovely I’ll be back to that store again.

Finishing off getting prepared for Christmas.
I may finish earlier than usual this year. Trouble is then with me, I can lose some Christmas spirit.
I will see what happens if that time comes. If it does happen, I may be asking for inspiration for how to keep it going.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's raining and very mild. Yesterday I was actually too warm in my coat. Such a lovely atmosphere in the town I visited, Christmas shopping in full swing. I'm at my prayer friend's house this morning and after that will start wrapping and hiding the presents for my grandchildren's treasure hunt next weekend; it takes ages to do.

Debating whether to give up my allotment as I have other plans for next year which will take up a lot of my time. I need to decide by the end of January.

Good morning, it’s a drizzly start here in south Gloucestershire.
Yesterday I had coffee with my friend, lovely to see her again.
Today the dog has her dog walker and will enjoy having a chase around with the other dogs, I have ironing to do- I actually quite like it while listening to a podcast or something.

Good morning from an as yet dry Bristol. It rained quite a bit during the evening.
First thing yesterday, I heard some weird sounds. Because I have tinnitus, I often imagine sounds, but, no, these were real. Two lorries came to fill in the trench the width of my flat. They used a digger as well as a spade. Now, I’m left with a mess, waiting for the cement to set before re-making the edge of the path. And I had worried about the mess my work had made!
Apparently, there were three faults in the lines which were state of the art in the 70/80s when the flats were built.
The toddler group party went well. There were 32 mothers and more children than that! Curiously, the noise level wasn’t intolerable.
I did some sewing and have very nearly finished the quilt.
Another empty today. More sewing. I may go into town for some wool for a jumper.
