Annsixty, there is nothing to forgive, just having a laugh and a bit of banter.
Neither me nor my bottle brush are offended 😂
Thank you for a good laugh x

Bella23 Tue 12-Dec-23 12:05:27

Good morning, another murmuration of starlings at twilight last night they were stunning.
I love the Donkey GG, we have someone who is one in production.
Sorry you are having trouble with the Carlisle Docs Ekwanimity, we have the same 25 miles south.
Trying to make shopping lists and menus and it is driving me mad. The decorations as such are up.
I hope everyone who is ill feels better and wish everyone a happy day,not always achievable.

annsixty Tue 12-Dec-23 11:47:05

Oh dear LauraNorderr I feel I am never going to be forgiven for my dreadful insult to your Christmas tree.
I am still mortified🫢😓.
I hope your visit to France will be especially good and fulfilling.

I don’t usually post on Good morning but I am free now so will just say that it is, once again, mild but dull and damp here in Stockport.

If I don’t visit again I send you all very best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

Ziplok Tue 12-Dec-23 10:55:52

Good morning all,
hope you’re all ok. I’m afraid I haven’t read through all the posts just yet, there’s quite a lot, so sending hugs to anyone who needs one.
Out for a Christmas lunch today, so no cooking for me to do this evening 👍🏼.
I think I’ve finished putting all the decorations up (I usually remember something I’ve forgotten to put out). The garland above the French doors is the last thing to go up, and I’ve done that this morning.
I’m quite pleased with how ahead I feel this year - though it’s a certainty there’ll be something I’ve forgotten to do, so I won’t boast 😅.
Another dreary looking day today, although the sky is beginning to look a lighter grey than earlier, so 🤞it stays dry after the downpour through the night.

karmalady Tue 12-Dec-23 10:49:38

Good morning from damp s somerset

Crikey I am late, been to the sorting office with a rm parcel which was not collected and then walked to the shops and have spent a long time helping a dd, who has a tricky situation at work, not of her making.

So what now? no idea, except cookfood is bringing me a few frozen meals this afternoon, I have treated myself for the holiday. I also have a small gammon joint to cook and portion and freeze for pea and ham soups, which I always seem to make when the weather looks bad in winter

Dd has asked me to make her joggers and a top and I have ordred patterns and fabric. So nice to have my sewing skills utilised by family now

I cannot see me doing anything else apart from that bit of cooking and also knitting

Hope you are all having a good day, I have not read any posts yet but I will

Good morning Mick and all from a wet northwest coast. The car had an oil filter air change plus wipers etc etc at new garage for me recommended by a friend. Very pleased as my trusty honest man has retired and I like to have someone I can rely on. My car dates back to 2009 so needs some tender care (like me😁) While that was going on, I did a little shopping and treated myself to a brunch of mushroom omelette.

Music club today, cards are posted and more Christmas stuff to do as in decs inside as DD,DS and DGD will be here.
I’m glad your dizziness is settling Blossoming and toi toi for Cranford Ashcombe, just the sort of production I’d like to see myself.

Georgesgran Tue 12-Dec-23 10:24:20

Did someone say donkey?

Blossoming Tue 12-Dec-23 10:11:46

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire where, unsurprisingly, it is raining heavily. Yesterday it was constant drizzle but quite light most of the time.

My iPad has been misbehaving, I feared it was about to pack up but it was suffering from the effects of the latest iOs update. I have eventually recovered my data from the cloud and am relieved it hasn’t all been lost. I’ve also changed back all the accessibility and other settings Apple had decided to change.

After a morning of admin MrB and I enjoyed a pleasant post prandial stroll around the marina. I’m feeling the benefit of the balance exercises, I hope to get out again today, weather and dizziness permitting. I’m not ready to venture into the city for the Christmas market, will have to give those things a miss this year, but I’m getting there slowly. I haven’t fallen for the past 3 days and the dizziness is quietening down.

I am loving reading about all your pre Christmas activities, makes me feel a part of it. kittylester, the very enthusiastic donkey made me giggle.

Hoping all the poorlies have a better day 🎄

LauraNorderr Tue 12-Dec-23 10:06:19

Good morning Mick, good morning all from a dry and reasonably warm Cheshire.
We enjoyed a lovely walk around the village at dusk yesterday peeping in windows at wonderfully decorated trees and marvelling at some of the imaginative garden displays. The big tree on the village green looks splendid covered in multi coloured lights.
Someone on here told us how liberating a small flat could be and she’s not wrong. Someone else has decorated the lovely tree in our welcoming foyer. The communal lounge twinkles with pretty lights and artful flower arrangements while we can put our feet up and just enjoy.
When everyone is busy taking it all down in January we’ll just take down our bottle brush and be driving off to France without a care in the world.
Christmas is coming.

Good morning all and the torrential rain has stopped and it’s sunny.
I took little gd to school as the weather was so bad. The traffic along with two accidents and road works was horrendous. We got to school by the skin of our teeth.
Gd is Mary today in the school play. I can’t go as tickets are very limited. I’ll see the video.

Today is play reading with Christmas theme and we’ll have nibbles with our coffee. Later Bridge club.

Take care and have a good day 🎄

Good morning from Glasgow. After such a pleasant, dry and mild day yesterday, we are back to heavy rain.

I had a pleasant good therapy time doing bits and pieces in the garden, even enjoyed an al fresco coffee. Due to awful weather and finding time I filled a few pots with tulip bulbs. I know I am late in doing so but, we shall see.

DH slept most of the day but à just what I needed, , surprise visit from DD1, GD2 and Milly dog late afternoon. We decided they would stay for dinner, lazy option, fish and chips, GD lit candles at the table, decadent living.

My best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Sar53 Tue 12-Dec-23 08:59:16

Good morning from the Essex coast. It was raining rather a lot when I got up but seems to have stopped at the moment. I'm glad as I have to go the chemist to pick up my prescriptions.

I've realised this morning that I have done something stupid and ordered from a scam website. I shall be onto my bank. I'm hoping the fact that I have good security on all my devices will stop this from going any further. I can't believe that I could be so stupid.

I hope all the poorlies feel better soon and that you all have a pleasant day xx

Urmstongran Tue 12-Dec-23 08:56:23

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It rained hard during the night but it’s mild at 8°C and damp. I have a dental hygienist appointment at 10am. Then as I leave (it’s only up the road) I’ll ring Himself and he’ll come down and join me for a coffee in the square, which is looking festive with lights in the trees there and Urmston Council’s decorations.

Here’s Matt.

Morning Mick and all from a damp underfoot S Hampshire, rain later.
We were dreadful at quiz last night and will blame our absent team member! It was fun though, a good crowd we’ve got to know.
Lunch out with a friend later, tree decorating and present wrapping, need to get surplus packaging in the green bin today for tomorrow’s collection. MrJ will wrap, I’ll write labels 🙂.
I hope your boys are gentle on you today Grandmabatty, you sound weary.

EkwaNimitee Tue 12-Dec-23 08:52:32

Good morning Mick and everyone from damp Carlisle. I think it's rained overnight as forecast but now I can see patches of blue, I suspect a showery day is ahead.
Yesterday was beautifully sunny. I had to go into town. Not long after I submitted my online form to the surgery, a doctor actually phoned and thought I ought to be seen so an appointment was arranged with the nurse practitioner. Neither she nor I were happy about more antibiotics so we are holding off for a few days but I did say I needed to be fit for Christmas!
I've reached the end of the line with the surgery though, it's the urologist next.

Today, catch up with the laundry and housework and more admin has arrived for me to deal with. Life must have been simpler as a cave person!
Grandmabatty I hope you survive the day! Perhaps an extra shot of caffeine before the little ones arrive...

Have the best possible day all of you.

Gwenisgreat Tue 12-Dec-23 08:39:55

Good morning all from dreich Harrogate- just opted in to see how everyone is! I seem to be very busy these days, probably because along with usual dusting, cleaning, cooking etc I am solely responsible for writing Xmas cards and wrapping presents. Dh doesn’t think they are anything to do with him. After phone call yesterday and a business meeting about a door panel we had fitted, I asked DD2 if we could pop up with her birthday 🎁 present and Xmas cards. DGS decided he was coming back to us for tea!! Today I have a Drs appointment late morning then we have to go into Leeds for an Appointment with 🍏 apple with DHs phone. He’s having so many email problems and Virgin Media is so difficult to get hold of (anyone speaking English as it should be spoke). Not necessarily on Apple he has a PC which refuses to boot up. I have got it working, and have shown him what to do, but he can’t be bothered. At some time we have to take it to Curry’s to get sorted. I did offer him the chance earlier this year to get rid of both his Apple laptop and Pc and update to MacBook so it works better both are old in computer terms. Id love to watch the enthusiastic donkey!!
Hope you manage to find something snooze 💤 worthy to entertain your Gc Grandmabatty.
Have the best day possible folks.

Good morning from Shropshire.

A long journey home from West Wales last night. We managed to speak with MIL’s consultant yesterday who is pleased with her progress. We visited everybody we wanted to so a successful visit. We should be back next week for a funeral but it will be depend on the weather and also how quickly our aching joints recover from all the driving these last few days.

Today we are going to the school Carol concert where DGD is reading. We will then collect the children from school.DH will take them home while DD and I have Welsh class.

Grandmabatty I hope the day isn’t too exhausting for you and that you start to feel better soon.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩🎄🎅🏼

Good morning from a dark and gloomy Black Country, where rain is forecast yet again!

A dry day yesterday, and Mum and I went into Wolverhampton to meet DS for lunch. Caught up on all family news, and exchanged cards and presents. Present for the children, as we no longer buy for the adults. DD's idea 5 years ago. I still have DD and DS's birthdays this month, and Mums 3rd January!

MrJ is on a bike ride this morning, but the forecast doesn't look too good. I have no real plans today, so go with the flow.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Grammaretto Tue 12-Dec-23 08:28:49

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Not quite light yet. DD's birthday. I've not forgotten her birth! Such a surprise after 3 boys and 10 years

Last night my df and neighbours had a party for those of us who have been volunteering on various projects for the past 20 years. She's Swedish so it was Smorgasbord with mulled wine. Glög(?)

Today my last Pictish art class --at the museum. Tonight by last Gaelic class.
Before that I must pack my kiln as we've run out of gnomes. 😂 These are very tasteful gnomes made by one of my group but selling like hot cakes.

How infuriating gMattie to have to put up with a building site not of your own making.

Any photos of your village ginny?

Have a lovely day everyone.

Good morning all from dark and damp South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday afternoon I finished off the Christmas decorations and wrote the final few Christmas cards. The cost of overseas postage gave me quite start the other day in the Post Office, it’s hardly surprising that so many people are choosing not to send cards.

This afternoon I’m meeting a young ex colleague for coffee, she actually lives in the next street to me but as she has work and family commitments we rarely get together so I’m looking forward to it.

Hope you feel better soon Grandmabatty.

Have a lovely lunch with your sister ww2, your menu sounds delicious.

Have the best day you can everyone, whatever you are doing.

Alygran Tue 12-Dec-23 08:21:51

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining.
DD2 has just left, heading to West Yorkshire for a meeting then on to Manchester for the rest of the day.
I need to do some laundry and tidy up a bit before going to town for some shopping and to collect my neighbour’s daughter from the train station. History society this evening.
Decorations are all done, I put the skinny tree in the dining room this year.
Have a good day everyone.

Marydoll Tue 12-Dec-23 08:20:10

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it's 5°C.
Another bad night, I coughed all night long. GMBatty, I hope you feel better.
By they way, you can throw away that match, you broke for me. The washing machine flooded the utility room last night! 😭 That's three disasters now!

Yesterday was quite eventful. Just as we turned into the approach road to the the Clyde Tunnel, I spotted police tape across it, we certainly weren't going anywhere.

There were three fire engines, two police vans and other police vehicles. We were on the main road to town, with nowhere to do a u-turn. DH was flapping, but he hadn't reckoned on my superior knowledge of all the shortcuts, I knew from my frequent hospital visits in the past.
We made it to the hospital just in time and secured a parking space into the bargain. Some of the disabled spaces were occupied by non Blue Badge users. Why do people do that?
I was ranting to DH about the man adjacent to us (consuming a packet of biscuits), not realising his window was open. blush

I had left my bag with DH, thinking I was just getting my BP etc done. However, I had to go for and ECG and didn't take my phone, DH wondered where I was. I sat for ages and after about half an hour I asked, because I was very late for my appointment. I had indeed been missed!
The cardiologist was cast from the same mould as the others I have seen, blunt! The first thing he mentioned was my cough!
My heart isn't any much worse, so no change in meds, because they are keeping things reasonably stable, but something else is wrong. Yet another referral is on the cards. At least I have a reason for feeling so unwell. ☹
I was feeling quite low, when I came out. DH, in ostrich syndrome mode, as usual said That's great it's not your heart making you feel so unwell and ignored the other part of my news!. 🤷‍♀️ The news has implications, due to my RA. DH ust doesn't get it! or perhaps he does!

My lovely DD 😍 appeared unexpectedly after work with soda farls from M&S, because she know I enjoy them when I have no appetite.
As usual, she went home with a bag of goodies, including her Christmas socks, which I always get her.

Today we have gas boiler service. We were supposed to have it a few weeks ago, but they cancelled at the very last minute! 🤬

Sapphire, I have lost so many post, when previewing, that I now copy them to the clipboard first.

Have as good a day as possible folks.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 12-Dec-23 08:16:34

Morning all from a damp looking West Oxfordshire. I will finish writing the cards today and write a letter for some of them. I like to put a contemporary Christmas poem on the back so I’ve been looking, I’m still waiting for a couple of parcels to arrive. The house needs a dust and OH will hoover afterwards. We still haven’t found a new cleaning lady. OH is out tonight and so am I. A small group of us are having a Christmas social. I am providing the pudding, which needs to be taken out of the freezer. It is a raspberry and chocolate gateau. I’ll whip some cream to serve with it and also take a bottle of wine. We were looking forward to seeing one of our number for the first time in months. She had been having chemotherapy but has been told that her immune system is very compromised so really shouldn’t mix with people.
Have a good day. I really should get out of bed!

Liberty Tue 12-Dec-23 08:08:02

Good morning from a very wet Suffolk where the rain is forecast to stop in an hour….we’ll see.

Yesterday was dominated,in both time and expense,by an emergency visit to my dentist. I had lost a filling about a week ago and then more of the tooth over the weekend. If you phone at 8am and are in pain, you can get an emergency appointment which I did.

Apparently crowns are now ‘out of fashion’ and the remaining bit of my tooth was built up there and then using I know not what. It is a back one I can’t easily see but it feels just like a normal one. Since my dentist, who I’ve been with for nearly 40 years sold his practice to a national company they seem to be much more interested in dental cosmetic work. The reception are is ful of posters and leaflets about ‘ tooth whitening’, ‘ improve your smile’ etc!

It is the last Arts Society lecture this morning on Christmas through the ages and then lunch with the 2 friends I go with. Cards all written and posted so I’ll do some present wrapping later.

Hope today is kind to all.

Taichinan Tue 12-Dec-23 08:05:55

Good morning all. It's less than an hour until sunrise but there's not a glimmer of light in the sky yet which doesn't bode well!
I hope all goes well with everyone today - particularly you, Grandmabatty with your child minding. I'm sure Wolfie and the enthusiastic donkey will have fun in their respective nativities 😉
I'm off to tai chi this morning and then straight from there to meet my niece for lunch and a present exchange - always lovely to see her.
I'm still short of one present - and even shorter in imagination! Mr Amazon has been a blessing this year, but even he can't seem to help on this one. Ah well, I'm sure (--not so sure--) something will pop into my mind. Then commences the wrapping saga. I used to love that part when I was younger, so must try to dredge up that old enthusiasm.
Have a good day all, or at least a better one for some through the coughs and sneezes x
