No, I’ve got it at the moment and I’m confined to barracks, even though I feel fine now. Until you get a negative test you shouldn’t put other people at risk because some are very vulnerable.

Would you go out when you have it?

NO.

100% agree with Germanshepherdsmum. SARS Covid is a multi-system disease and the consequences, which may not be felt until weeks or many months post infection, can be life-long, devastating or fatal. There have been plenty of peer-reviewed research papers written in the last 4 years to evidence this.
What a horrible person your son's boss is! Why on earth would he think it appropriate to make anyone so obviously ill (whatever the cause) to travel to a social event? Does he get some kind of financial penalty or something if all employees don't attend?

Your son did absolutely the right thing. Who knows who he may have infected either on the journey or while at the event - possibly someone who lives with a vulnerable person.

Unfortunately, the UK government has decided that the health & well-being of the people are less important than capitalism. Legislation could easily have been passed to ensure safe, clean air in workplaces, schools and public places, just like they had installed in the Houses of Parliament. Call me cynical but I don't think it was a coincidence that the December Covid statistics were not released……wouldn't do to take the shine off the festive shopping and frivolities would it?

No. It’s irresponsible.

My son (43) has a severe bout of covid and is feeling dreadful. He works from home for an American company and is unable to take time off due to company’s attitude. They had a Christmas party yesterday and he refused to travel due to temperature of 39.2 and passing around the virus. His boss was most displeased and was aggressively trying to make him attend the party in central London. My son eventually was allowed to not attend.

My daughter in law is a high school teacher and yesterday she found out the teacher in the next room has tested positive for COVID but is allowed to teach as long as she wears a mask.

Is COVID such a small threat that we no longer have to stay at home when we have it? Employers seem to make people come into work when surely it’s more sensible to stop spreading it about. I’m not suggesting another lockdown but it appears to me that the pendulum has swung the other way.

Would you go out when you have it?
