Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in brackley .
My usual routine of getting some basic needs today whilst shopping once I get off the bus in Bicester.
Then a easy day at home.
Take Care,
Mick

A late good morning from Glasgow. No rain and the sun has just come out.

My cousin who lives locally popped in for coffee and a blether earlier, a year younger and the sister I never had.
DD1 and Millie dog are here and DD is about to set out with my shopping list, leaving Millie with me. 👏. I got the best part of the arrangement.

A few deliveries expected later, other than that, nothing else planned.

Happy Birthday baubles. Welcome to the 70s club for me too😉 -🎂🥳

Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and all from a bright northwest coast. Really enjoyed my city trip yesterday, a good exhibition, a rather empty Harvey Nics for Christmas time and lots of walking. Heavy rush hour traffic coming out though.
A decorating the tree/house for the season today and a general tidy up. Left to myself, the place looks as if inhabited by students…
If I lived closer Ashcombe, Cranford would definitely be a date in my diary.
Happy Birthday Baubles and will read through properly later 🎄🌺

Good morning Mick and all. Yesterday was much wetter than forecast and cold as well but we enjoyed meeting up with Edinburgh friends at a garden centre near here. I had a deliciously light cheese scone.

Today I am procrastinating over writing the Christmas cards. There are fewer than there used to be but important to us for keeping in touch with friends. We moved a number of times in DH’s working life and a Christmas card with a letter or even just a scribbled note is a good way to keep up the connection between visits around the country.

A very happy 70th birthday to Baubles.

Thoughts with with all suffering - whether mysterious aches and pains, a more serious condition or the sadness of grief, recent or longstanding.

*Bonnybanko” I have a rocking horse exactly the same as yours but it is brown. It was made in a hospital for patients with mental health problems and bought my my sister how worked there. This was about forty three years ago! Now I don’t know what to do with it as DGds have grown out of it.

Grammaretto Thu 14-Dec-23 10:01:17

Happy birthday Baubles🎈 have a lovely day. You look much younger!

Good morning from a dry but chilly town in Central Scotland. What a busy time of year this is! I was later up this morning so will read your posts later. Had a day in Glasgow shopping on Tuesday with Dh it wasn’t too busy but was pouring rain. It was just running down Buchanan Street. However we got what we went for so that was good. I was surprised at the number of beggars sleeping in the doorways though they seem to be increasing again. We get the electric bus from here and it only takes 45minutes but it is infrequent.
Yesterday I was out for morning coffee and a catch-up with a friend Grandmabatty I have a strong suspicion it was the same garden Centre as you 🤣. This morning some food shopping then finish putting the decorations up. GD2 after school she wants to make Xmas cupcakes today so need to check my store cupboard. Have the best day possible.

Good morning from a grey NE.
It was very cold and wet yesterday but still managed to get the grocery shopping done.
Had a lovely Christmas card from DH's friend, he wrote a chatty message and always ends with love from the cat too. This man has emailed me regularly since DH died.
Today I must do some housework and wrap DS's birthday present. December has always been an expensive month, my sister, son, DH and MIL all had birthdays in the week before Christmas.
Happy Birthday Baubles, enjoy your day.

Good morning everyone from a dull and damp Northampton, 4°C outside. Set to stay like this all day.

Yesterday was spent doing a bit of pottering and then a whole afternoon of reading - I am loving my Elizabeth Jane Howard book! It's difficult to put down. And I called two friends and had lovely catch-ups.

Cleaned the garage fridge yesterday and switched it back on in readiness for Christmas. As there's only me now, I don't really need it, and I had switched it off and was thinking about selling it. However, with the family descending for Christmas this year, it will be needed to store turkey, ham and other goodies. My kitchen fridge is tiny and only has room for the basics.

No ballet or tap classes today, as the church whose hall we use is having their big Christmas dinner today. Classes have been moved to tomorrow instead, but I am probably not going to chance my ankle.

Hoping to bus to the shops later this morning with my shopping trolley for a few more Christmas goodies; I need to choose a nice ham to cook, and will look to see what else takes my eye.

Happy birthday Baubles! flowerscupcake

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 6°C.

Yesterday was sunny all day despite the forecast. It was very chilly out. I collected my prescription then MrB and I went shopping. The shops were much quieter than expected this close to Christmas, though the Amazon collections seemed busy. We did a lot of walking and I snoozed for an hour or so when we got home.

Safe journey to all travelling today, Olddudders will soon be back with you Ashcombe.

Happy Birthday Baubles x

Have a good day whatever you’re doing 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning everyone from a dry and cloudy south coast.
Lovely carol service/nativity play last night. The church was packed and standing room only by the time we managed to park but thankfully DGD had reserved us a couple of seats! Well Done that girl!
Baking for the freezer this afternoon - making a start on the preparations for next week when DGS2 and his girlfriend are coming for lunch on Wednesday and I have ‘open house’ for family and friends on Saturday. I remember the days when my parents used to send out invitations announcing they were ‘at home’ which I always thought was daft because where else would they be? 😂
I didn’t want to do it so close to Christmas but it’s the only day DGD3 can make it and I haven’t seen him for a year.
Hope everyone has the best day possible.

Ashcombe Thu 14-Dec-23 09:33:47

Rather an emotional Ashcombe here, on reading your heartwarming comments, everyone! Thank you so much for your kindness. 💖

My fuel went up £80 a month - nearly £1000 a year by my reckoning! I’m -£550 in credit and Octopus are advising I add another £10 to my monthly payment - that’s a no from me.

Sorry to hear about your car Liberty - very annoying. At a Masonic do years ago, a lady had taken off her engagement ring (stupid) to wash her hands and left it behind. She’s realised almost immediately afterwards, but despite numerous pleas throughout the evening, no-one ever owned up to finding it.

Grandmabatty Thu 14-Dec-23 09:27:59

Baubles a very happy birthday to you, the lady with the gorgeous hair! I hope you have a great day x

And here’s Matt. Nearly forgot!

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dry here. Not windy. Our Yorkshire Lass is having a ‘quick’ shower before getting the train back to Leeds. It’s been lovely having her stay over.

Late morning I have a small shop to get from our larder for my stepfather. I will then take his ‘messages’ to him on the bus and stay for a mug of tea.

Thursday = date night. Late afternoon Himself and I are meeting a couple for drinks in this nice pub literally round the corner from us. It used to be the old post office (we have a new one in the Subway shop next door) and it’s becoming very popular. Nicely trimmed up for Christmas, buzzy and cosy so it ticks all the boxes.
