Good morning everyone from a dark, windy and fairly cold day here on the east coast of Fife.
I’m off to M&S this afternoon for some salmon mousse and other delicious foodstuff., whatever takes the fancy.
The optician is visiting my twin sister this morning at 9.30, specsavers are so good her eyes have deteriorated and she’s now got cataracts. I’ve been wearing reading glasses for a number of years they may look at my eyes too.
Have a good day my friends, keep well Mary and continue with your Glasgow catch ups xx

Good morning from a pink skied Suffolk. Gosh I’m late this morning and see there are 40+ posts already which I’ll read later. Glad to see MaryDoll’s name there.

We had a lovely time with DS and his ‘tribe’ yesterday and the 10 year old birthday boy delighted in showing us his bedroom which has had a makeover. Alexa can now turn his light on and off!

Eldest DD and family are coming on Wednesday for a couple of days before Christmas so must clear 4 beds of things that have just landed there over the weeks before I can make them up.

Thinking of those not feeling their best for whatever reason and hoping there is a little sunshine in everyone’s day.

Good morning everyone, at least the fairy lights can brighten up these dark mornings! Feeling a bit more with it this morning after a chesty cold, but I'm not going to spoil it by trying to 'catch up' with planned jobs etc. With a week to go good enough is good enoughgrin
farview, our pets are such a comfort to us, so glad you have your little darling to cuddle x
Have a good safe day chums.

Good morning Mick and all. There were 35 posts ahead of me just now, so I'm afraid I can't stop to read - though I'd like to. I have picked up though that Marydoll is feeling too unwell to post - I hope you find your wonderful spark in time for Christmas flowers.
Here it's just the mad dash to the finishing post which, for me, is the 22nd as that's when DGD and I travel south. I'm such a fumble fingers these days, and I'm having such a battle with the sellotape, that I'm off out to spend a small fortune on gift bags and tissue this morning in order to speed up the wrapping! Needs must and all that.
Enjoy your pre-Christmas doings everyone and I hope all the illnesses and aches and pains fade away in the magic of the season 🎄🌟

Safe journey and a very happy Christmas holiday Sar53

Morning, one & all, here in Essex is dry and warm.

Wish you all a festive & productive week.

Thanks so much for the update Marydoll, been thinking about you.

Late, for me, this morning. Cloudy and mild in Cornwall. Lovely evening with my youngest son and his lad, gentle, funny people I enjoy so much. We watched the Pixar story as planned, while eating roast chicken, then moved on to watch Wall•E. Today is my only empty till Christmas so I may go to Portreath on the north coast, a small but favourite beach of mine.

The photo is my other son's pond, where overnight the elves have moved in. I think he's enjoying the play-acting as much as his two small children are!

NanKate Mon 18-Dec-23 08:12:03

Good morning Mick and All from a cloudy, mild South Bucks.

Off for coffee at a Garden Centre with one of my old pals.

Sending hugs to Marydoll. Fingers crossed 🤞 you can get a doctor’s appointment 💐

harrigran Mon 18-Dec-23 08:11:03

Good morning from a dark, damp NE. It is very mild.
Up early as it is burglar alarm maintenance day and visit is promised between 8am and 1pm.
Today is the birthday of my youngest child, he is 52 shock
He got his gift on Saturday so I won't be seeing him again until Christmas day.
Housework day and probably laundry too.
Get well soon Marydoll

Still dark here in Sefton. Looks dry but rain forecast later.
A busy but enjoyable day yesterday with both 'boys' & their families culminating in a wonderful Unthanks concert. Chinese chippy takeaway on the way home.😋
Last singing group session of the year this morning. There will be mince pies. A bit of last minute shopping at our local retail park this afternoon.
Have a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 18-Dec-23 08:06:34

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
Good to see your post MaryD. I do hope you can speak to your GP.
GM - that Nativity sounds a hoot!
I’ve woken up with a ‘funny’ tummy, which is annoying.
I should be doing a Waitrose shop today and also dropping things off at the Charity shop. Then the tree! We do need to get one today.
Have a good day, especially those of you with difficulties.

BlueSapphire Mon 18-Dec-23 08:01:42

Good morning everyone from a still dark, dry Northampton, but a miserable day ahead, with much rain forecast, 9°C outside.

A quiet day in yesterday, reading, watching tv; I managed to defrost and clean the kitchen freezer amongst other things.

Yoga this morning, will see how my ankle goes and will take it easy; afterwards we are going to the local sports centre just over the road for coffee.

Then back home where I will attempt yet again to write and send a Christmas email to a dear ex-colleague. Wrote a long one yesterday, tried to send ir, but wouldn't send, and disappeared into the ether - of course, I hadn't saved it as draft! Think I will use the lap-top this time, save it and see what difference that makes..

Must get my skates on and get ready for yoga; will read the thread when I get back.
Hope today goes to plan for all.

Marydoll Mon 18-Dec-23 07:58:19

Good morning all,

I just popped in to say, thank you to all those kind posters, who were concerned about my absence. I was quite tearful at the lovely messages. I didn't want to drag the thread down with my moans and to be honest, I couldn't summon up the energy to post.

I'm not too well and I'm finding life a bit of a struggle at the moment. Everything seems to have flared up at the same time and the news from the cardiologist a week ago floored me. I am Very annoyed about it, to say the least!

Have a lovely day folks, I'm off to join the queue of a million people, trying to speak to a GP.

farview Mon 18-Dec-23 07:57:00

Thank you all for the kind words ⚘

Alygran Mon 18-Dec-23 07:53:01

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Mild today for our village walk over at Richmond.
I have calls to make later to arrange a last minute booking for a Christmas lunch on Thursday.
Yesterday’s carols on the green was well attended despite the cold wind.
farview hugs
marydoll I hope you feel better soon.
gm you made me laugh with your nativity story.
Have a good day everyone.

ginny Mon 18-Dec-23 07:46:05

Good morning.
Had a productive afternoon with DGS2.. He made bookmarks for himself and his two aunties. Candy cane reindeers and a gift each for his Mum and Dad. Lovely!
First thing, DGS3 will arrive to play for an hour or so and then I’ll get down to some gift wrapping. Hopefully fit in the ironing that keeps looking at me from the corner.
Wishing all a good day with special thought of those who are poorly.

Gingster Mon 18-Dec-23 07:40:59

Good morning all and it’s very dark still.

Today we are off to our bolt hole in Suffolk. I’m so looking forward to a change of scene and peace and quiet. Total relaxation (I hope) .

Hope you’re feeling a little better today Marydoll.🙏.

Have a lovely Christmas holiday Sar.
You too Ash
And anyone else going away for Christmas.

Take care and keep safe 🎄🎅

luluaugust Mon 18-Dec-23 07:40:19

Taken me so long to write, all the best to Marydoll

luluaugust Mon 18-Dec-23 07:37:12

Good morning from a still dark W Kent 9 degrees. Good day yesterday with DS and family and fun to see adult GC.
Cleaning lady coming this morning and hopefully a plumber for the blocked shower. I also have to phone the bank as I have locked myself out of some key they sent ages ago no idea how that gets sorted out.
Enjoy your cake Rose&Lilac
Lovely Nativity story I remember being Mary long ago.
Best wishes to all

brook2704 Mon 18-Dec-23 07:27:12

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s still very mild at about 10º and looks a bit wet
Thanks for the update on marydoll, gMattie, if you’re reading MD, get well soon 💐
A busy day ahead, the school run with DGS, sorting out the workmen who are still working on the en-suite, a festive get together at the volunteering centre, a aqua class at the gym and a bit of last minute shopping. When I get home I’ll need to finish getting my bag together for a my trip to Cambridge tomorrow. We’re having early Christmas celebrations there this week which I’m really looking forward to.
Safe travels Ash enjoy your time away
Farview difficult times, sending ❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Jaxjacky Mon 18-Dec-23 07:21:56

Morning from S Hampshire, 9, so not cold.
That nativity sounds most entertaining gMattie🙂.
Enjoy the walk with your dog farview so hard in your situation to get five minutes.
Safe journey Ashcombe.
Yesterday we visited my son and family to exchange presents, then we had the big Christmas draw in our local.
Voluntary phones today, pharmacy visit and Christmas quiz tonight.

Good morning from a dark, dry and mild Colchester. Temperature staying at 11°.
Had a long but smooth drive yesterday and a lovely few hours with family. Baby behaved and presents were swapped. Great grandparents were happy and well. They bought us a cheese hamper that could feed the 5000.
Today I need to sort DS's room as he's home for a fortnight on Wednesday and his GF will stay so clean sheets are in order. (He wouldn't think of it)
I need to buy new tree lights as ours blew yesterday and we need food too. (that goes with cheese 🤣)
Hugs to Marydoll and Farview and love to all 🦩 x

NannyJan53 Mon 18-Dec-23 07:03:20

Good morning from a dark but dry Black Country.

Fantastic party on Saturday night, where we bopped the night away! Too noisy to chat. Lovely Hotel and the buffet was superb, the best I have ever seen. Breakfast was fantastic too, with MrJ's DD's and a boyfriend and his ex-wife, who is very nice and friendly to me.

My DD is 45 today! How fast time flies. I know she went out for a meal with friends Saturday night.

Sounds like an hilarious Nativity gM.

Hugs to you farview a difficult situation for you.

Grandmabatty you are amazing Grandma, I don't know how you have the energy.

Get well soon Marydoll

GrannyGravy13 Mon 18-Dec-23 06:57:40

Morning all, I am hoping that the builders will get a lot done today, the novelty of living with a building site surrounding my home has worn off!

Off to the gym first thing then I have hand washing to do and some sorting out.

(((Hugs))) to all in need, poorly or otherwise.

Have a good day folks 🤶🏻🎄

Whitewavemark2 Mon 18-Dec-23 06:54:49

Good morning from a dull South Downs. Early start for me as I have the podiatrist at 9am and must walk the dog beforehand.

Day of housework - but last before Christmas - whoopee!

GM love the nativity story and please give MB my best wishes.
Farview I am sorry to hear of your difficult situation - life is not easy with someone suffering from that awful disease. I have an aunt suffering similar and she is very difficult to live with, my cousin has very little sleep - in fact their GP is trying to organise respite care so that my cousin can recuperate for a couple of weeks. You dog obviously gives you so much love and pleasure though which is good to hear.

Roast chicken a La Delia this evening which means stuffing, pigs in blankets and cranberry sauce. In fact a mini Christmas dinner😄. No Christmas pudding though as DH has his blood sugar test on Friday, and we need to keep it low if possible.

Peace and harmony to all
