Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 6°C and yet again wet!

Glad to hear you got some positive news yesterday Mick and of happy family times.

We (the royal we) are shampooing the downstairs carpets. We have only got the carpet cleaner back from our children, after months. Apparently DS1 handed it broken to DD, ( never let on 🤬) she secretly repaired it 😍 and has now returned it.
I shall observe and supervise, while DH labours. 😉
I am still fit for nothing!

No plans just a quiet & relaxing day after a very busy week & weekend. Yesterday we met our Llandudno friends halfway for lunch in our usual country pub. It was very busy.
I'd better join my zoom exercise class this morning or I might seize up - I've not been able to join in for a few days.

I have youngest DGS for a couple of hours this morning.
Later I’ll make brandy butter for next week and have a good tidy up in the spare room where everything has been dumped over the last couple of weeks.

Good morning from a dry and mildish NE.
Yesterday was a busy day, my hairdresser arrived at 9am and we had just got my hair washed when the two plumbers arrived. I asked them to start in the bathroom as we were in the kitchen.
I was only having a trim and blow dry so didn't take long.
The plumbers took out the en suite toilet, fixed whatever it was and plumbed in new basin tap. They stripped out the old sealant in the shower cubicle and replaced it, lovely job even nicer than the original installation.
Finally my kitchen tap was replaced and at last I have one that swivels, I am over the moon to have the work done after 18 months.
DD and SIL are coming this morning and we will do a grocery shop. I tidied the freezer last night in case I need the storage.
We have booked a table for a late lunch afterwards and we will use this time to remember DH, it would have been his birthday today.

Today will be a quiet day. I'm not long up. I have cards to deliver in the wider area so I'll be out in the car. Later I'll visit mum. In between I'll tidy up and wrap more presents. Have a good day all

Good morning everyone from a bright and dry Northampton, 7°C outside, felt really chilly when I got up. Still, I don't need to go out today.

Had a lovely time at an ex-neighbour's yesterday; she had provided a light buffet lunch for the five of us. Was pleased that one of our neighbours who is undergoing radiotherapy felt well enough to come even though she had come straight from one of her treatment sessions. She looked extremely tired though, and it has got to the stage where they are going down every possible avenue regarding treatment, as the cancer has now spread to her brain. Her oncologist is ever hopeful, but were it not for private treatment, the outcome may be very different.

Younger DGD is coming for tea this afternoon, as her mum is chaperoning at the pantomime which older DGD is in, and. DS is working nights; she may end up staying overnight which will be nice company for me.

The long email which I thought I had lost on Sunday, suddenly reappeared from the ether in my sent box, so I didn't have to write it out all over again. Trust the recipient has now received it safely. It has taught me that I should save everything in draft to be on the safe side.

Some washing to be done this morning and attempt to give the cats their flea/worming
treatment before their holiday in the cattery in Friday. They seem to know when I am going to do it and try every trick in the book to escape it!

Sorry to hear that covid has raised its ugly head in your family kitty. It's still everywhere around us - DD's New Man's parents have both gone down with it this week.
Stilllearning I hope the glasses do the trick for you. I shall never enjoy night driving, but it feels so much better with them. So sad for your DD's friend but glad WAY is proving a great support. My youngest DGD, who was 10 when her daddy died, is now an ambassador for Winston's Wish, a similar sort of charity which helps children with their grief in bereavement. That might be another tip to pass on.
Kalu that sounded such a happy visit from your DD and DGD. How uplifting for you both!

Right. For me, today is a race down the home straight of present wrapping - the finishing line is in sight at last! I also have washing to hang out, then ironing and the house to sort and I'm then free to go off for a few days.

Good morning from a glorious Suffolk coast. The wind hasn’t reached us yet Liberty but we have a warning for it. I hope your Bristol gang arrive safely this evening.

What a difference in weather from yesterday when it rained all day. Flooded roads and fields again. Sandy soil here and it usually drains very quickly .

We did a small shop at our local Co op but it’s so expensive and not much to be had. We’ll go further afield tomorrow to do our Christmas shop.

We have a new bakery/cafe in our tiny town. Much excitement but disappointing. No bread (you have to order the day before) they will bake every morning. Not much on offer at all. Had a nice chat to the owners who said things will improve in the New Year. I do wish them luck but don’t hold out much hope.

Today we have our handyman coming . He’s finished our steps and we need new fencing in the spring, so we will pay him and discuss what needs to be done. It’s a big job.

We’ll walk Little pooch in the woods and see the ‘progress’ that is ruining our countryside for the upcoming nuclear power station.

Yesterday I went into town for an appointment with the nurse practitioner to discuss my persistent kidney infection which has been worse than usual this time. Back on the antibiotics once more and a second opinion with the doc in early January. All very minor compared with some of your problems on here but weighs wimpy me down mentally. When I'm like this, I always find that song "Always look on the bright side of life' ringing in my head! I do try....
Hopefully, today, I don't have to poke my head outside, I have plenty of little jobs to tick off my list though yesterday it was growing faster than I could clear the jobs.

Christmas 2023 is not quite here yet but on the TV the other night, I actually saw on ad for Christmas 2024! If I'm going to see those all through next year, I shall emigrate....

Good news mick. You must enjoy your Christmas now. Still waiting to break up from work counting the days. I have told my boss I’m reducing my days from Jan pathway to retirement in two years. Hubby broke up now but will be bored till I’m with him Friday. Lots to do and. Grandchildren to visit tonight after work all go!

Good morning from another dull and dreary day weather wise. Well that was the last of three early rises for us and the two DGd’s are safely deposited at separate schools one on the other side of the town. We had forgotten how manic the school run can be! They have been very good and now are old enough to do most things theirselves, still it will be good to hand them back to their parents later in the evening. A trip down to M&S this morning for their requests for dinner, I like to make sure that I give them something they will eat rather than have a confrontation unlike when my children were wee 🤣. No rubbish though, well maybe ice cream. Grandmabatty the cafe I mentioned hasn’t changed hands or it’s name and the food is still good. There was a shop next to it also starting with C selling homeware but it has closed, didn’t last long. Hope everyone has the best day they can.

Very late start following a poor night but only an oldies Christmas lunch on the agenda so it doesn’t much matter. Excellent WI dinner last night in beautifully decorated hall, charming table decorations and excellent (catered) food. Much gossip and laughter and I was glad to be there.

I keep hearing of covid rearing its ugly head and wonder if it will be possible to avoid it whilst socialising, however modestly. Meanwhile my thoughts with so many unwell and hope today’s plans work out well.

I hope all the people with problems get them solved and the people feeling ill feel a bit better and can enjoy this final run up to the big day.
I made lots of pre-Christmas phone calls yesterday and caught up with old friends. Plans for Easter and February half term for visits would you believe it?are now in place. One GD is on strike as she does not like their Christmas plans thank goodness she is not old enough or I think I would have a Christmas lodger and some very upset grandparents.
A lot still to do , as I made a hash of the e-cards I tried to send .

Good morning all,

Unbelievably, DGD1 is 18 today. Her best present was passing her driving test on Saturday. This was at 7:30am a time at which she would never normally surface. DGS1 was 13 on Sunday. We won’t see either of them until the 28th when we will have a family get together.

Both DGD3 and DGS2 were brilliant this week when we had them on Monday and yesterday respectively. It’s not a given! 2 year old spent a lot of time doing jigsaws. He can manage a 30 piece puzzle without help once he’s had a couple of goes.

DH has an MRI scan this afternoon to try and fathom out why he has had a non stop cough for 5 years and several X-rays and CT scans have shown nothing at all 😬. Atm, he has a very bad one following a cold from weeks ago. I had the same but it didn’t go onto my chest at all.

Glad to hear from MD. Do take it easy over Christmas and let others look after you.

Good morning from (surprise!) a still soggy Boggy Brae. Rain forecast for the rest of the day and blustery with it.
My weekly swim this afternoon and I hope to add a dab or two of paint to a watercolour I'm doing. It's still a steep ⛰️ learning curve but that's half the fun.

Good morning Mick and all from a wet 11°C northwest coast.
Christmas do went well at music club yesterday and I was in charge which was a surprise as I didn’t think it was my turn.
I wore some sequin trousers I had cut shorter myself without hemming. They looked ok but not if you looked closer😳 Lots of food left over so I had a nice little stash to bring home, chicken legs etc, which pleased me.

My stomach still in a bit of a gripe, but I’m driving to my hairdresser nearly twenty miles away. They suit me as they don’t fuss and don’t take too much notice of me, which I like.

Glad you can now get on with things Mick, I may buy a Yule log myself. Problem with Christmas food is I can’t keep it until Christmas…I bought chocolate raisins to put in a Christmas mug for a present but ended up eating them myself..
Sorry you had a troublesome journey Ash and hope you can now enjoy yourself.
