Good morning from Glasgow. A late start for me as I slept soundly for 10hrs when I did eventually fall asleep. Another stormy day here, a coory doon day sounds perfect.

GM, I follow your mantra, carpe diem but there are days when it is beyond my reach. I hope your battle is quickly over💐
Such sad news and a shock for you Blue. My condolences to you and your family. 💐
Safe travels Brook haste ye back.

Have the best day possible all and as always, heartfelt good wishes to all who are soldiering on through difficult times.

Very late reading all your posts today. A quiet day at home finishing present wrapping. Had a nice catch up yesterday with some friends for coffee and mince pies. I am sitting here counting my blessings after reading some of your posts. We have all our family near by with no estrangements, we all have reasonably good health although some chronic conditions and although not wealthy by any means we all have a comfortable lifestyle. What more can anyone ask for at this or anytime of the year. We are very lucky. Enjoy the next few days everyone as best you can. P.S I hate New Year.

Good Morning Michael and all
It’s a lovely bright day so far
A few hiccups here , both ears infected , bloodshot eye and the veg are mouldy !!
I am lucky , I can’t hear the complaints , I’m in my own wee bubble 🤣
I’m cooking ham for my Son , it’s in the slow cooker where it is ensconced in apple juice and peppercorns, my hand slipped and there are a few extra fell in !
Thinking of everyone 🕯️🙏🏼

Oh BlueSapphire such a shock for you all, quite traumatic especially so at this time of the year when family plans will have been made in full expectation of fulfilment. So sad. Please accept my condolences on your loss. 💐

I was brought up Methodist and after much googling realise that we sang O For a Thousand Tongues to the same tune as Joy to the World. I have heard While Shepherds sung to Lyngham and love it.

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy grey Lancashire, currently 10°C. If it wasn’t for the wind it would be unseasonably warm.

No real plans for today other than a little housework. We were late to bed (again!) as we were binge watching that brilliant Nordic Noir series The Bridge. We watch quite a lot of foreign language films.

Have a good day whatever you’re doing. Sending love and healing thoughts to all who are under the weather.

Good morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry with swiftly moving clouds.

I’ve taken an age to read this morning as I got sidetracked by the Fisherman’s Friends links and then as usual for me I see another song I want to listen to.

I’ve some ironing to do and will potter today.
BlueSapphire 💐

Have a good day all 🎄

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
My music club friend’s mulled wine and mince pie morning yesterday turned into a practically all day event. Very enjoyable with a good turn out from the club and she had prepared a lovely spread, pate, various cheeses etc etc. a little music and a bit too much mulled wine for me followed by a little Prosecco. I don’t drink now so am now feeling it. Another guest gave me a lift home, it’s not far, then he stayed drinking coffee and talking the hind leg off a donkey. I’m taking a taxi to pick my car up.
DD arrives later and my celebratory day means I’m behind with Christmas prep🙄. We must pay for our pleasures!

I’m so sorry Bluesapphire, so sad and send my condolences and thoughts to all with worries 🌺🎄

Urmstongran Sat 23-Dec-23 09:34:30

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dry and seems mild out. No plans hurrah! A very easy day ahead. That said, we may drive over to see my stepfather for an hour this afternoon. If so, I will do my Christian Duty and pop into the larder for him (on the busiest weekend of the year 😱) if he needs any ‘messages’ getting. I’m kind like that.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning, bright but windy again today, I will start to ‘curse my Gammon’ later today (a La Phoenix) and I have mince pies to make.
Then some cleaning and ironing to do.
Ive abandoned my ideas of making cakes, sausage rolls, trifle and flapjack as we really will have enough food once I’ve started cooking later today. It’s only 2 days and we won’t starve.

Have a good day everyone, thoughts are with those who aren’t so chipper today. 🎄🎄

So sorry to hear your very sad news BlueSapphire 💐
Hope your son’s ankle recovers quickly Mirzuna

Fairly quiet day with just upstairs to clean and take some Christmas food items from the freezer ready to take to DD2 & family on Monday. We will stay over. I’ll probably need a lie down for a week afterwards!

Hope all those who are unwell rally in time for Christmas.

My condolences to you and your family Bluesapphire x

Good morning from Durham. The gale force winds continue.
DD2 and I had a nice, but short visit to York yesterday. I have both DDs and their little ones coming later - it will be Bedlam!
Nibbles, fizz and gifts to be exchanged in advance of the day.
When I did the cable car Sar, a sudden storm made the basket descent unsafe - think I was a bit relieved!
Condolences to BlueSapphire and kind thoughts to others grieving and generally below par.
Best wishes to all. X

GrannySomerset Sat 23-Dec-23 08:31:20

Ham to finish off and sausage rolls for DGS to make but nothing else planned. Like gMattie I am poleaxed by sadness but will just have to go with the flow and emerge the other side. At least today I don’t have to pretend as I am not seeing anyone. Sorry to read such sad news - it feels even worse at Christmas, somehow - and hope Marydoll feels less awful as the day goes on.

Alygran Sat 23-Dec-23 08:28:46

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s dry and much less windy.
The ‘lodgers’ are just getting up. I can hear footsteps. They have a mid morning train to Edinburgh. I shall call on my neighbour who came home from hospital yesterday.
GM sending you a hug. I was knitting yesterday afternoon and listening to some music when it occurred to me this is my 7th Christmas without DH. Cue tears. Sadness in the celebrations. 💐 for all of us with our brave faces.
Today it’s a quick whizz round before heading off to DD’s. I’m hoping the roads are quiet. 🤷‍♀️
Blue sorry to hear your news.
Lots of not so upbeat messages today so I’ll just wish you all a safe and peaceful day.

ginny Sat 23-Dec-23 08:19:51

Good morning all.
flowers BlueSapphire.
Busy today. I shall send DH on a few errands while I sort a few other jobs and make some shortbread.
DD2 will pick me up after lunch and we will meet the rest of the family to see the pantomime. I enjoy watching the little ones watching the panto’ just as much as the panto’ itself .
Wishing all a pleasant day with a smile along the way.

Jaxjacky Sat 23-Dec-23 08:19:26

Morning from a dry S Hants, fingers crossed he can drive today Mizuna.
A safe and steady journey home brook.
Ambushed is the right word gMattie have a gentler day today.
Cooking of the gammon today, half to stay and half for my daughter where we are having Christmas lunch. I’m also cooking up some veg for bubble and squeak on Boxing Day. Other than that, a walk and enjoying this pre Christmas couple of days.

Good morning from Suffolk on what sounds to be a busy day for many.

So sorryBlueSapphire to read your sad news which was so unexpected and will take time and emotional energy to process.

We plan a trip to the grave of DH’s parents and then to the beach for a dog walk. This is a different one from the visit with the Bristol tribe on Thursday and imagine it will be popular with children and dogs plus their parents. There are a couple of lovely coffee stalls so,a,though closed in winter,I’m hoping they are opening for the holiday.

Thinking of all those with health or other worries and hoping today is kind to them.

luluaugust Sat 23-Dec-23 08:15:46

Good morning from a bright W Kent. So much happening on here today I feel positively lazy. DB arriving later but otherwise a quiet day.
BlueSaphire what a terrible shock I am so sorry
Mizuna I hope your son’s ankle improves soon
gM flowers
Marydoll hoping the cough will calm down.
I for a thousand tongues, I can hear one of my aunts belting it out decades ago, what a memory.
Best wishes to all

Gingster Sat 23-Dec-23 08:12:24

Good morning all and it’s fairly bright here in Essex.

So sorry to hear your sad news BlueSapphire 🙏.

The journey back from Suffolk was very windy with a few holdups but not too bad.

My book club Christmas meal was jolly with delicious food and good company.

Today I will shop for DD and see how she is. She’s poorly again !

Dgd1 is back ‘home’ for a couple of weeks so I’m looking forward to seeing her.
Dgd2 (17) was presented with her Christmas present , a ‘new ‘ car. I big pink bow wrapped around it. Lovely for her but something else for me to worry over ! 🤯.

Sar I’ve been down the slopes in one of those baskets. Terrifying but good fun. I screamed all the way down 🫣.

Take care, those of you who are travelling and get well wishes to all the poorlies 🎄

Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country, where at least it is still dry.

Unexpected outing yesterday with my friend, as she asked me to accompany her to a local garden centre, where we had coffee and another good old natter.

Today housework, and making a cake to take to DB's and SI's for Christmas tea. Salted Caramel. MrJ is off on a bike ride with his club.

Sincere condolences BlueSapphire such a shock. flowers
