Good morning and a very Merry Christmas to you all.

Lovely to hear of all your ‘doings’. 🎄.

Yesterday afternoon , dgd1 and I went to church to watch the Nativity with the children dressed up. Little DGD and Dd were going to come, but they’re both poorly. It was a lovely service and very sweet.

Today we are going to DS1’s for dinner and to spend the day with him and his family. He does a delicious spread and DIL and the teenage girls will be keeping us amused showing us their many presents.

I hope you all have a lovely day and peace and harmony to the world.🙏

Merry Christmas everyone from a dry, still & mild Sefton.
Turkey in oven, ham in slow cooker - I like my turkey slow cooked as well hence the early start. All is under control, no doubt it will disintegrate into the usual chaos later when both 'boys' & their families arrive for lunch. So looking forward to it.🥳
Wishing you all the best Christmas Day however you spending it.

Good morning from Glasgow. Seasons Greetings to all 🎄
Cold and raining.

DD1, her partner and the girls are visiting at some point late morning. Various drinks and nibbles while we open gifts, a FaceTime family catch up with DD2 and SiL in Australia.

Have the best day you can all.

A very happy Christmas from a dry and still Suffolk where we are having a quiet day today before the Ipswich tribe arrive for lunch tomorrow.

When our DC were young we kept goats as DS had eczema and had only goat’s milk. We used to take them down to the goat shed before they went to bed to see the goats kneeling in homage to baby Jesus! What they didn’t realise( and I’m not sure they ever did) was that,in order to rise from a lying down to a standing up position, they have to kneel….and,of course,as we all arrived unannounced, they must have thought we’d got tasty treats for them.

Very best wishes for a happy peaceful day.

I think this is the thread on which to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

GrannySomerset Mon 25-Dec-23 08:19:06

DDiL has just brought me tea in bed, a rare treat, so am relishing it before embarking on the day. Family will leave at around 10.00, lunch guests due at 1.00 ish so no problems there until I find that I have forgotten something vital. Hope everyone has a good day with easy travel despite the wind and rain.

Happy Christmas Mick and all “Gransnetters” from a calm Dublin.
Drinking tea in bed before the chaos begins then off to Church in town and back to our base for lots of food and drinks.
Much busier than our Christmas last year in East Yorkshire when we went on a hike and had a picnic just the two of us!
Wishing everyone peace and happiness.

Merry Christmas to you all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and dry. Thank you Tillytrotter for the mention. I'm having a quiet cup of coffee before heading to dd and the boys. I'm having breakfast with them then coming home for a bit. Then I'll visit mum. Later Sil is picking me up and I'll have dinner with the family. I am very fortunate to have such a caring family and such lovely friends. I wish you all a peaceful Christmas and New Year.

A very happy Christmas to you all from a very mild Black Country.

Driving over to Mums later this morning to bring her back for a Turkey lunch prepared and cook by MrJ. Then we are driving over to Brothers to spend late afternoon and evening with them , Niece and DD and SIL and the girls. They alway put on a huge spread.

Then we will leave Mum with them to stay for a few days. It will be good to see my Niece as I have not seen her since August.

Wishing you all a lovely Christmas Day, however you are spending it

A Merry Christmas morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is dry at the moment. DD has just brought me a coffee. I arrived yesterday afternoon, SiL was baking bread. He cooked us a lovely risotto for dinner and we played Cleudo - Grandson’s favourite but I still haven’t really got the hang of it. Perhaps by next Christmas! I’m assured this evening there will be games I’m good at!
Have the very best of days, whatever you’re doing and God Rest Ye Merry!

Grammaretto Mon 25-Dec-23 07:54:51

Merry Christmas to you all from the Scottish Borders.
Have the best day possible

Morning all and Happy Christmas from West Oxfordshire.
Daughter and younger son are still in bed. Elder son, his partner and our granddaughter should arrive in time for lunch. I’ve printed off a timetable so everything should be ready by 1 pm.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning all and merry Christmas from Glasgow, where its only 3°C.
I got to bed at 2am after a very eventual day. I have had little sleep, my hips were protesting at being on my feet so long.

I was sacristan at Midnight Mass,, one of the most beautiful and uplifting ones I have every attended.
Our church lights kept blowing, owing to a major fault in an electricity substation.
The church had to be light mostly by candles. To top it all, the choir sang beautifully. I found myself in tears at their rendition of my favourite, Oh Holy Night.

Yesterday morning was spent, dealing with Scottish Power repair teams, who were discretely trying to get some power in the church. There was now power in the presbytery either. The priests were saying Mass, so I was asked if I could liaise. My turkey had to wait!
To top it all, one of the PP's large and lively dogs kept escaping, as doors were left open by the engineers.
The dog, at one point got on to the altar, much to the hilarity of the congregation.I have a fear of dogs, after being attacked as a child, but Rita (the dog,) follows me everywhere and at one point, spread herself across my feet, stopping me from moving. She thinks I am her pal! 😍

I have to commend Scottish Power for their service. They pulled out all the stops.
We were all huddled in the Switch roon, when I asked the PP if he had been praying for a Christmas miracle. One of the young electricians, turned and refreshingly said: I have been praying for you too, so that your Christmas services can go ahead.
The true spirit of Christmas was in that cupboard.

Unfortunately, the engineers will be back on Wednesday to dig up the Church grounds. Major damage has been caused by the power surge and to the PP''s horror, we are going to need a helluva lot of candles till the fault is properly sorted! 😉

I wish you all a joyful and peaceful Christmas. I think I have had one of the nicest Christmas Eve's ( despite the lack of sleep) ever.
I will see all my children, partners and my darling girls later for our usual brunch, then it will only be four for dinner for the first time in forty six years. I am a tad relieved! 😉

Special thoughts and prayers for all who will find this a sad and difficult time.

Good morning from NE Hampshire from a regular reader but not a poster. I want to thank all the wonderful regulars who share their lives with us. It is comforting to know that we aren’t alone in our good and bad times.
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas whatever your circumstances and may 2024 bring peace, goodwill and kindness everyone.
