So confused, its for carpets and stairs, not hard floors, so cordless ,lightweight , powerful, breaks down to handheld,

I have a cordless shark hairwrap
I'm very pleased with it

I’ve got a V15 Detect Plus and I absolutely love it. Hated my Shark so I gave it away. I still have my Henry though, keeping him forever 🤣

I had a Dyson but the battery went after several years. I bought a 'lightweight' Shark recently to replace it and it was much too heavy. I returned it. I then bought another Dyson and it's perfect. Try it in the shop.

I have had G-tech upright and hand-held for years. Absolutely great! Reasonably priced, light weight, no fuss, easy charging. Would always go for them. Because I’m lazy, I also have a Eufy robot who trundles happily around the floor downstairs. I keep my G-tech upright upstairs so don’t have to carry up & down even though it is very lightweight.

I’m on my third cordless Dyson, the first couple I loved, this one, at over £600 I hate.
It’s constantly blocking up, it’s heavy and clunky, and it’s difficult to change the attachments, the last one I will buy.

I’ve got a shark cordless. I find it excellent for large house, carpets wooden floors, hairy dog. It comes with spare battery and very useful attachments. Much cheaper than Dyson. My only concern is that its a bit heavy

I've had two Dysons and woukd not go back to them. Overrated and overpriced. My latest cordless is a Samsung and I find it really good, easy to empty and clean filters etc. 3 different sized heads, handy for getting between cabinets, units etc plus nozzles. Good battery length too.

My cordless Dyson is great. Weighs nothing cleans a four bed house on one battery charge -,2 big hairy dogs live here. One a yellow lab. So golden lab dust everyehere. Dyson at least daily

The Dyson I had was appalling. They sent me a new charger and it was still appalling so I chucked it out. Bought a cheap one which is still working 5 years later. I really can’t understand why they do so well that company because daughter also had a fancy one that lasted less than 12 months when she changed it for a miele

Yet my DD has had her stick Dyson for 4 years, I had a corded one for 12 years, mended once. Would get a stick one myself, bit expensive for me. Must be nice to have the money to chuck a new Dyson out.

Hated my old Dyson. Heavy and didn't pick up dog hair. Had to brush stairs manually. Miele is 10 years old and still does a great job. But it’s also heavy to lug around. Do fancy one of those Sharks…

I wouldn't give James Dyson the money. He's a moral vacuum

I used to think that but he does run a great and forward-thinking college for electronic engineer students (linked to Warwick university) which means the students are employed and paid while studying rather than ending up with massive debts. I think that's a creditable thing. Also, although he was pro-Brexit (which I am not) and then moved his manufacturing operations to Singapore, even that makes sense as his largest market is - would you believe - China.
Having said that - I had an early Dyson vacuum cleaner but the handle simply snapped off after a couple of years. I have a cute shark which I'm as fond of as one can be of a household implement.

Another vote from me for Gtech. Foolishly I replaced my very well used Gtech with a Shark. The weight of the motor and the dirt box all have to be carried by the user and I have noticed this same design flaw with several other makes too. I have to decide to do just a couple of rooms a day as the Shark is really too heavy for me now. As I'm 67 I'm sure there will be many others, both younger and older than me, who must find the same problem. A point to be considered when making a new purchase!@

I inherited an old but hardly used Air Ram which made a racket when switched on. I telephoned customers service who talked me through taking it apart and even. without the brushes and basket it was still making the same loud rattle. They suggested I purchased a new casing, which cost me just close on £ 100 instead of buying a brand new one at £ 230, The only thing not being replaced is the battery and the basket. I am well chuffed. Excellent customer service.

ONLY Dyson…never Shark!
There is absolutely no comparison in quality, craftsmanship, battery life, suction and mobility.
Happy Housecleaning!

GTech for me too. I’m on my 2nd ( in a 10 year time frame) so maybe longevity isn’t as good as some but for performance and ease of manoeuvre I love it ( & the hand held for stairs is so much easier) . Customer service is totally first rate.

We have both. (4 dogs, you see) - either do the whole 4 bed three floors house. I find the Dyson lighter and easier to use (Shark is folded when not in use) but my husband says Shark superior product

Cagsy Thu 28-Dec-23 15:47:27

Dyson for us too, and both sons have them - all cordless, the oldest must be 10 years old and we're all very happy with them

I have a shark cordless. Better than previous dyson but still doesn’t cope with dog hair.clogs up every day. Gone back to my Henry corded.such a difference!

Anneeba Thu 28-Dec-23 13:43:04

BTW, always used Dyson until his politics stuck in my craw. Have a shark corded now.

I'm not seeing any messages on gransnet, all I am seeing is this under the title. $message.get/viewQuoteSection($1iu) i'm confused anyone haveing this problem? I'm not sure what to do to rectify it. Any help would be appreciated, that's if I can read it!! Just realised I won't be able to!!

I'm getting this on my mobile, but can open messages normally on my laptop. Are we alone? I dare not touch the mobile messages in case they're infected!

Shark definitely. I have 2, one upstairs and one downstairs, had dyson in past and i think shark are much better, suction, easy yo use and lighter. Apparently they are much more popular now than dyson, i just bought a new one from currys, £130, fir upstairs save me lugging the other one upstairs. Definitely recommend shark.

I’ve got a cordless Dyson animal and it struggles with dog hair . It gets clogged up and the filter needs cleaning after every use . I wouldn’t buy again

Yes, our filters were the problem too, they cut out after one use unless the filter was thoroughly cleaned. We had no pets.
