Birthday card hunt - and Clinton’s!

Only a day after that card hunt, I realised (having already addressed the envelope for a nephew’s birthday card) that he was about to hit 50!

So back to the shops again (groan) and was surprised to find the most suitable by far in M&S, where I hadn’t thought to look before.
Card showed a cartoon-ish sort of cat, saying, ‘A little birdie told me you’re 50!
So I ate it.

I have often found a good selection of birthday cards in garden centres. I used to live close to two good garden centres but now I've moved, there's nothing similar in the immediate vicinity.
One problem I have is with 'relative' cards. Why is it assumed by the card designers that all grandsons are fanatical about football or - to a lesser extent - about cricket? My 3 grandsons do a variety of sports and games, but neither of those two. For granddaughters, they are mostly 'pinkly girly' which doesn't necessarily appeal to mine.

We don’t have a Clinton’s nearby but when I last went into one I wasn’t impressed. I’m surprised they have survived.

My hobby is papercrafting & card making - I make unique greetings cards, gift boxes, invitations, etc.
I get so much pleasure & 'mindfull' time creating things and it's an honour when asked by others to make stuff for them.

Sometimes, (when I have a glut of stuff and have plenty of stock) I sell at craft fayres, farmer's markets, etc. and they sell well 👍.

People expect hand Crafted cards from me, so I haven't been into or bought from a Card shop for years 😉.

I buy mine in local charity shops. Nice cards, reasonable prices and for a good cause.

Asda has really nice cards and decent prices too

I like the selection at Card Factory too, Witzend. The supermarkets often have a decent choice as well. I must say I’m getting a bit tired of the humorous cards based around how much wine we put away - though it probably says something about me that I always get a few of those on my birthday.

I've had happy purchases through etsy who do a great service in personalisation of cards. Not cheap but considered worth it for 'the few'.

I bought a card in my post office today.
With postage to Europe it was £3.40. The pity is the post is so slow. My Christmas card took 2 weeks.

Meant to say, we don't have any card shops nearby either.

Last 2 birthday cards I needed were bought online. The local shops choices were dire. I bought them from thortful, chose the font I liked and wrote my message. Reasonably priced too.
