Have You Treated Yourself Since Christmas?

I've treated myself to a couple of little things that were on my Christmas list, but which no one had bought for me.
The first was the Harvest teapot by Mark's and Spencer's, which Musicgirl posted on my thread 'Does anyone else have a passion for Teapots?' I do have a passion for teapots and fell in love with it when I saw it in the photo🤗. And she's right - it does make a super cup of tea!

Then when I put up a thread: 'I'm thinking of buying a yarn bowl', Greyduster mentioned a beehive shaped yarn holder that her mother used to use. Intruiged, I set off on a journey of discovery and found them selling on ebay. They were made of bakelite. I liked the look of it and wondered who might have used it all those years ago 🤔. I showed it to hubby, who likes anything vintage and without my knowing, he bought it for me. What a lovely surprise.

Finally, I treated myself to a tension yarn ring, which I had only just learnt about. So I've been having great fun with the yarn holder and tension ring. The tension ring takes the hard work out of crocheting. No more cramped fingers. And my cat can't tamper with the wool 😄🙀.

So have you, or anyone else, treated you since Christmas?

Saw this oversized fleece hoodie in the M&S sale for £5.50 - to fit age 15-16. It’s hardly been off my back since as the weather’s been so cold.

Bought a dress for just £19.50 in Tesco today. It just said “buy me”. Never bought clothes in Tesco before apart from socks and tights.

It is lovely and will scrunch up in suitcase for holidays. No ironing required as it’s a crinkly sort of material.

I also got the fleecy lined leggings from Primark. Reduced to £4 a pair. Absolutely brilliant under trousers in the weather we, re having just now.

You're welcome, Patsy70. I think I might have a look at those fleece-lined leggings myself. They're just the ticket for this cold weather 🥶

Patsy70 Thu 18-Jan-24 16:24:05

Having read about fleecy lined leggings on this thread, I have bought two pairs, plus two thermal long-sleeved tops. They are so cosy. Also, a pair of black ‘biker’ boots to complete the outfit! I’ll have to take a look at the Primark ones Oldnproud. Thank you for starting this thread Fairycakes, it’s giving me ideas. 😊

Maggiemaybe, the saga of the bag continues. I went into town to collect mine today, and was first told that it hadn't arrived. Then the assistant found it, on the floor. When she unwrapped it, it was far larger than I had imagined, and also the handles/ straps, were not long enough to fit on my shoulder.
So I have rejected it, and will have a refund, back to my bank, in 7/10 days 😱.
Well, they take the money fast enough, but seem loathe to return it as speedily.
Hope that you get yours soon, and it is all you want.

A bunch of rainbow tulips today. 🙂

I've gone a bit bonkers, a Seasalt tunic, a petite fitting dress from Roman both real bargains! Then found velvety fur lined leggings in Primark £7 a pair, so snug and comfortable i bought 4 pairs😀. I also found a big fleecy scarf/wrap for £4. I do love a bargain.

I bought 3 pairs of those fur-lined leggings last winter, and I still love them.
On a very cold day, I wear a pair of them under my jeans when I go out for a walk, and they keep me soooo warm!

Thank you. smile

Hope it goes well, Maggiemaybe. Enjoy your tote bag when it arrives 😊👍

Maggiemaybe Tue 16-Jan-24 15:13:09

I’m on it, Fairycakes. Well, I’ve contacted their customer services and suggested that at the very least we should get free delivery of the replacement to our home address instead of having to trek into town again to collect it…. To be honest it’s such a bargain I’ll just be happy if I do get a replacement. smile

Fairycakes Tue 16-Jan-24 11:54:39

Maggiemaybe, when it arrives tell them they owe you a discount for all the trouble they have put you through 😤

Maggiemaybe Tue 16-Jan-24 11:44:30

Well I sincerely hope it goes better for you than it did for me, Auntieflo. DH went to collect my tote bag from our local Clarks today and came back empty-handed. Because they’d put it on display by mistake when it arrived there and sold it! They then told him (wrongly) that there are none available online now, but they’ll ring round and try to get one from another store. And in the meantime they’ve kept my money. angry As you can guess, I’m not a happy bunny right now!

Auntieflo Sun 14-Jan-24 09:13:26

I forgot that I had ordered this. I had a small pot in a gift set, and it was so lovely that I treated myself. It will last ages.

Am now awaiting an email to say when I can collect my bag from Clarkes.

Thank you, Musicgirl. Now I'll be on the hunt for the teapot 🤣🤣🤣

I've bought some Sweaty Betty leggings for pilates. I used to have the Autumn Leaves version of your M&S teapot. However, I hate to disappoint you @fairycakes but it is actually a coffee pot!

There were two sizes in the same shape - a large, heavy one, which is a ☕️ coffee pot, and a smaller, lighter one, which I have, that is definitely a teapot 🫖. They later changed to a rounder design. I have a teapot in this shape, too, and it makes just as good a cup of tea.

Treated myself to a gorgeous, cosy, snuggly oodie in the sale, which will hopefully pay for itself as I ve switched the heating off!

Just had my second oodie delivered so I can alternate whilst one is in the wash. Spent all last winter nice and cosy in my oodie. Enjoy, they are amazing !

Fairycakes Sat 13-Jan-24 10:38:24

FarTooYoungForThis haha! I wondered if it was. I kept asking family members if they thought it was a coffee pot and not a teapot, after all 🤭. So, you've answered my question. Thank you 😁. Now I shall have to learn how to make coffee on the stove to fill up the coffee pot
