Does Anyone Remember Paper Cut Out Dolls?

I loved my Bunty and Judy. Could never decide which was my favourite.
A friend’s younger sister saw me carrying them home and made me feel so immature for having them …..the6 stopped in favour of probably Jacky.

Dogsmother I graduated to Jacky at about 15,then I started babysitting fir a neighbour's little girl,so I could play with her Barbies and Sindys that I ased for and wasnt allowed

Oh how I used to love them. I used to imagine myself in the outfits. Such fun and I'd forgotten all about them until the OP mentioned them.

Oh I loved these. I was given Little Women cut out dolls for Christmas once, I can still see Beth.

What a great thread! I used to love those cut-out dolls and preferred them to my "real" dolls.
I remember giving my own daughter one of the books when she was about 5 or 6 but she wasn't much interested.
I admit to sneaking a look at the Belle & Boo site - now trying to resist the urge to order some! (Need to get out more? Who? You mean me?)

I think they were printed on the back of "Bunty" every week and you had to be very careful cutting them out.

Lord, I can remember "Jackie" - the Cathy & Claire problem page was a real hoot! I got the feeling that the 'problems' were often made up......

They were one o my favourites when I was a young child in the early 50s
I called them ''dressy dolls''and would spend ages cutting them out and dressing them. I always got a set or two or birthdays and Christmas.

I had entirely forgotten about these dolls. I loved them. Played for hours. Also the playground skipping games mentioned upthread, with their own rules and ownership, or at the park after school, unsupervised. And playing two-ball against the wall of the house. Cost next to nothing, but all gave huge childhood pleasure.

I used to get the Twinkle comic in the early 60s and they had cut out dolls with outfits on the back, they were bigger and simpler and easier to handle than the Bunty ones. I especially remember Twinkle's Brownie uniform that was exactly like mu big sister wore. I then graduated to Bunty and Jackie. Happy days!

I’m actually cross that I never got a book full of them! Didn’t know they existed and my Mum knew I loved the Bunty ones. 😡

I recently printed some out from the intranet for my 2 granddaughters (10 & 5) they loved colouring in the clothes. It kept them quiet for a couple of hours.

I’d forgotten all about these - brought back happy memories. I used to play for hours with these. I love dressing them up with the different outfits - remember the little tabs on the tops to attach them. Happy days.

I agree, I was a tomboy too but loved playing with my sister's cut out dolls. We used to make our own too.

Loved them! In the late fities I used to stay with my Gran while my Mum went to town for shopping. Sometimes she would bring one back for me. Other times she brought me one of the Magic Painting books. You just had to paint the picture with water to reveal the colours.

I used to cut out models from the children’s section in old mail order catalogues and I had a whole school ! I put them all into classes and it was my most favourite past time !

My sister used to have Bunty comic every week and I remember these dolls being printed on the back page.........under no circumstances was I allowed to cut the dolls and clothes out although I was allowed to play with them when she had done so.

Magic Painting books and cut-out dolls - Oh what happy memories. I won't get started on Beano and Dandy!

Another happy memory, I played with mine for hours. Wonder what today's youngsters would make of such a simple game.

I adored cutting out the doll and clothes. My tabs were a bit choppy but it didn’t matter. Genuinely spent hours playing with this game.

I loved these dolls!!! I used to design dresses and colour them in when I ran out of the ones in the book. Endless hours of amusing myself!
