I agree with Maybee and Galaxy

Kate Garraway had a family to support during a desperate time for them and Aldo wanted the best care possible for her husband. That would have been expensive and she needed to earn good money for ypthat.

I imagine Derek would have approved of what she did to raise awareness of what Covid can do to people, destroying not just their lives but those if their loved ones too.

Katie Hopkins is a vicious, spiteful piece of work, she certainly knows how to time her attack, just a couple of weeks after the family was bereaved.

I too felt that she allowed the public to intrude far too much into her husband’s illness. If he could have consented would he have wanted the world to see him in that state? She earned money from what she did, but presumably she was already very well paid as a tv presenter. Basically, she took away his dignity. Michael Schumacher has, rightly, been kept away from the public gaze. Of course he is a multi millionaire and there is no financial need to sell access to him, but I feel that KG went much too far and it was not purely in order to raise awareness of the damage which covid can do. It always felt to me like an exercise in self promotion at her husband’s expense.

I think it's quite risky to assume that people will always act with the best motives, consent is really complex. Again I mean generally rather than targeting a specific individual who has gone through a terrible experience.

I think that someone who is in the public eye must surely have had his consent? once he was able to give it, although it made for uncomfortable viewing maybe it helped her to get treatment abroad for him?
They were both media types until he changed his profession, so I’m sure he would have been ok with it.
It wouldn’t be the way I would have handled something to awful.

I think there are considerable risks with that idea, I am talking generally rather than this specific case.

I think Kate wanted people to remember what covid had done to so many people and how it had affected so many lives and I’m pretty sure she knew her husband well enough to know that he would approve of what she was doing.

She will not have had access to the money the Schumacher's had. The costs she will have been incurring will have been beyond description.
They were both public people , I know my husband would not have agreed to that level of publicity but that is because I know him. I do think there are important discussions to be had about consent though.
