Wetherspoons is a dog-free pub

Good, I hope other establishments follow their lead. It always used to be the rule, 'No Dogs', wherever food was sold. It's time this country got back to the way things used to be.

Hope everyone who visited Weatherspoons during the football weekend managed to avoid most of the football.
This weekend 2/3 February its Rugby six nations weekend.
So if you want to avoid the Rugby these are the following kick off times this Friday and Saturday.
FRIDAY France v Ireland kick off 8pm
SATURDAY Italy v England 14:15pm
SATURDAY Wales v Scotland 16:45pm
Rugby six nations is free to air on BBC and ITV

For those who maybe considering heading to Weatherspoons this weekend 26/27/28 January 2024.
Football COULD be on whilst at the pub so I have put down the football kick off times which could last approx one and three quarter hours.

sue500 I totally agree with you but when we express our opinion everyone jumps on us as dog haters NO we re not dog haters just want them in the right places in our lives and that’s not in shops or cafes/restaurants
(People are so oblivious too, yesterday I had to work in a very small room with a nice lady who worked hard and was competent but she reeked of wet dog, it was so unpleasant)

As if jumping on the smell of someone's clothes and relating it to wet dogs isn't showing your strong dislike for the creatures! It might be that she got soaked or dries her washing on musty radiators.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs shouldn't be barred from anywhere. As the people using them need them to live a full active life. But other dogs should be allowed at pubs but only in the garden and not allowed to wee or foul in the garden as children run around.

I love a Wetherspoons good food at good prices . My grandsons have been brought up as we brought our children up to sit at the table and not move plus good table manners.

Because of my disability I can't cut up food and need to use a spoon and fork to eat a main meal . If I am on my own I always ask for my meal to be cut up in the kitchen or if with family or friends they cut it up for me. I can't use a glass as my hands tremble all the time so always ask for a cold drink to be served in a crockery mug. When having a regular size hot drink always ask it to be put into a bigger cup or mug. No one has ever refused me help .

Hoorah at last a venue with common sense. I like dogs have owned dogs but never expected or took them shopping or to restaurants, pubs or cafes. Fed up with going into eateries and finding dogs also shops, for example. why do people need to take dogs into John Lewis. Obviously I am not referring to assistance dogs. I feel sorry for people with allergies and those who are scared of dogs a couple of times dogs in a cafe where we have been have started barking snarling at each other quite scary.

Guide dogs are almost always exempt from restrictions though. I doubt that many people would want to have them banned, even if they prefer not to have other dogs in social spaces.

I appreciate that this post is contrary to my previous one on this subject, but I hadn’t taken into consideration assistance dogs, sorry.

As a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind I was a little sad at the attitude of some people commenting here would you really want to exclude blind and partially sighted people from dining out because their dogs were not allowed in the restaurant?I have been in many an establishment with my dogs in training and it was not until I left that other customers even realised I had a dog with me.

I think there should always be an exception that allows Guide and Assistance dogs to enter all premises.

I am extremely allergic to all dogs, but would never suggest that someone with a disability be asked to leave because of it. My health is my responsibility which is why I always have a handbag full of emergency medication.

I am totally against any dining area where dogs are allowed. I most definately do not want any dogs near me when I am eating a meal.
I can appreciate that in some rural areas there are many dog walk and pubs need to cater for them.
But please save a separate area for diners who want to eat in a dog free zone.
Some dog owners should also understand that not everyone loves their pooch and some people, like myself, are afraid of most dogs.

Weatherspoons has a ‘buzz’….i love football …and dogs …but not while I’m talking with friends and eating. Our weatherspoons is alive and buzzing…food is good …cheap…and the staff are excellent! What’s NOT to love.

Dogs, on the whole, are far more hygienic than many humans, but I understand that some humans don’t like dogs.

I wish to state very clearly that I do not lick my arse, nor sniff at other humans' piss, so count myself to be more hygienic than a dog!! smile

Haha but sadly I’ve seen humans not washing their hands, dirty awful nails, leaving public loos in a terrible state, picking their noses, picking their ears, not keeping themselves or their clothes very clean, not clean their teeth and be smelly even when dry!

Dogs on the bar I can tolerate, if their owners eat in the bar with them that’s fine. If they bring the dog(s) into the restaurant it’s not the environment I choose to eat in, noisy children also.

I seem to live in a county that is relaxed about dogs and indoor eating in pubs and outdoor in restaurants and cafe type eateries.

We have a dog who regularly goes with us when we eat out during the day - not so evenings as we then go to smarter restaurants where dogs are not welcome. He always tucks himself under the table keeping an eye on what is going on, as he is often offered a drink and a treat, in fact at Rick Steins he was given a blanket to sit on and another to wrap up in if he so wished!! So he does have a list of restaurants he prefers😄😄😄

Dogs have lived with humans for tens of thousands of years - in fact helped him catch his meal for most of those - so I, like my county am pretty relaxed about dogs in restaurants etc.

Yes - leave them at home. The majority of dogs would hate to be in a crowded atmosphere stinking of humans.

We have two dogs and wouldn’t dream of taking them into a pub or restaurant. Leave them at home; please!

I’ve frequented Wetherspoons often.
Personally having dogs in there wouldn’t really worry me.
Having to endure badly behaved kids worries me.
A lot of them are loud, unruly and their parents have absolutely no control over them and think and expect the rest of us to put up with their behaviour!!
Much rather have dogs in there.!!
