Storm Isha……..are you ready?

Still cuddled in bed drinking tea and listening to the Cathedral bells, blue skies here in Ripon.
It seems hard to believe there is supposed to be a storm.
We are out for lunch today to try a new local restaurant then hunkering down for the evening.
We came with all our walking gear but I suspect it will go home unused!
Will this be a storm in a tea cup?
Are you prepared?

Must tie the bins down!
And move my little Christmas tree which is in a too-small pot on the garden table.

Oreo Sun 21-Jan-24 10:57:51

Not ready as such, just moved anything in the yard that could be blown away.At least not freezing cold any more.

How lovely to be in bed with your granddaughter!
My tea in bed was disrupted as my poor husband got an excruciating cramp in his calf, he was screaming in pain.
Up now!

Try mangnesiun spray, instant relief.
I think we’ll get off lightly from the storm here near the south coast.

A hardy girl there you have Calli! Sports are so good for these young ones - mentally as well as physically. You go girl! ⚽️

Yes, she is!
'Though she be but little she is fierce' to quote The Bard
At least when it comes to scoring goals!

But it is the calm before the storm here.

MiniMoon Sun 21-Jan-24 10:38:43

It was windy here until half way through the night. All is calm now, with grey skies and light rain. Alexa has just informed me of a yellow weather warning for wind from 23rd to 24th January.
I'm sitting on the sofa with grandson 3 watching black and white Dr Who from 1963.

Started raining and blowing, it was the calm before the storm.

Just a bit breezy here in Durham although there’s a severe weather warning for tonight. DD2 is driving back from Derby later so I’ll be happy when she gets here en route to take Little Dog home.

Kiwiqueen123 Sun 21-Jan-24 10:30:55

Slight wind/breeze here in Herts. Much milder than yesterday though thank goodness.

Bella23 Sun 21-Jan-24 10:30:37

Didn't want to leave the lovely warm bed and coffee the winds and rain are building steadily here. They are meant to peak at midnight and I hope they do. So many large trees around with branches hanging that could do some serious damage.
No morning walk for DH today, he managed to get down ploughed public footpaths he hadn't been down for years last week as the ground is so hard,
We ll decamp to the kitchen and AGA with candles if the power goes off.

I don't like these storms. I'm afraid of getting blown away.
(not me personally, just my home)

Callistemon21 Sun 21-Jan-24 10:26:36

There's an amber weather warning for this area; we're ready to hunker down but DD will be travelling home so I will be worrying.

Our L’il Miss is playing football, Urmstongran!

If I opened a jar of gherkins in the night Himself would be hoping I was going to put a cheese sandwich together for him!

Joseann Sun 21-Jan-24 10:23:21

I think it's coming in from the South West, s I'll give you due warning. It was a bit breezy walking the dog on the Moor earlier. He has a lovely ripple through his red fur when running into the wind. DH, being a choir boy (!!), disappears on Sundays, so I'm now back in bed reading.

Yellow weather warnings here in Kent for a few days, but no evidence of it at the moment. Thank you for the cramp remedy, rosie. We always have gherkins in the house, and my OH often gets cramp during the night. 😊

Magnesium tablets! Take one before bed each night.

Magnesium is a muscle relaxant.

No wind - just a slight breeze. I’ve opened my front and back windows , as I usually do, to get som fresh air through the house.

DamaskRose Sun 21-Jan-24 10:16:14

It’s mild-ish and still here in the north east of Scotland and the 3-4inches of snow have all gone. But we have everything we need, as long as the power stays on …

Off topic but can give you a top for cramp which my DH also sufferers from. If you have gherkins in the house a tablespoon of the liquid they come in will relieve cramp in seconds. Tests disgusting but does the job !

Storm Isha is expected here late afternoon when this stiff breeze will become ferocious.
As for the snow Galaxy - you were lucky because we got the forecast shed load! It was beautiful - but then I didn't have to go out if I didn't want to and confined myself to just replenishing the bird table. I'd far rather have snow than wind and rain - but we don't get to choose 😉

GrannyGravy13 Sun 21-Jan-24 10:10:58

It’s meant to be windy here in the S E most of the day with rain later, the worst of Storm Isha should miss us though.

Still in bed watching Sunday Brunch and scrolling through GN, I enjoy a lazy start to Sunday whenever possible.

dogsmother Sun 21-Jan-24 10:01:07

Anxious here as youngest is driving home today/tomorrow this includes a long ferry crossing which if not cancelled will be rough. Slow crossing chosen as it’s more likely to plough through rougher waters.

Jane112 Sun 21-Jan-24 09:58:28

Amber warning for the whole island of Ireland which is very unusual and gust strengths have just be raised, we're keeping the candles on standby.

Sago Sun 21-Jan-24 09:58:26

Galaxy

Well I was on alert for serious snow last week, it consisted of 3 flurries, so am not that worriedsmile

I hope you touched wood!
