How Old Do You Feel?

Depends on what I'm doing!

Happily listening in to younger colleagues conversations: ancient.

Not sleeping the night before ticket sales release for a favourite band, then pasting it all over facebook gloating I've got said tickets: 20's.

Going to bed early because I'm tired from not sleeping the night before........: ancient.

Planning an unexpected but pleasant suggestion of going on holiday with a friend: my current age.

Buying new modest 'heels' to wear to a works 'do': 30's/40's

Opting at last minute to wear my old comfies instead: ancient

Mentally I'm in my 30's, but my body sure feels ancient lately.

I feel about 30 in the mind but 90 in the body

In my head I'm still in my 30's or 40's thinking I can do anything. The reality is I feel physically my age...71... but some days older due to arthritis, especially if I glimpse myself in a shop window or a mirror using my stick or wheeled walker!!!
I put off using the walker for ages as it makes me feel old but realised very quickly I can walk further with it which can only be good for my body. I try to go out to the local common as often as possible, lots of people there walking dogs or taking children to park and skate park. I often have a quick go on the swings when I'm over there believing its good exercise for my knees..... all that bending to gain momentum!!! 😅🤣

I’m 70 and that’s how old I feel. People often think I’m younger and are surprised when they find out how old I am, but how I look (my grandson said recently that I look ‘twinkling’) is neither here nor there. I am the age I am and I often feel the weight of my years and experience. Some days during the past year I know I have felt - and looked - feeble and weak, and on other days I’ve had a skip in my step and a twinkle in my eye. That’s life!

Up to the age of 60 I really didn't feel (or act) any more than 40 but from then on I did start to feel more tired. To be fair to myself I do a pretty demanding job and I was suddenly widowed at 59 which knocked a lot of stuffing out of me. I'm 67 now and I'd say I feel my age, not younger or older.

Happy Birthday cc🎉.

cc

I'm physically a little decrepit at the moment, but pretty childish mentally. So it probably averages out at around my real age, 72 today - with a badge from my grandchildren to prove it!

Happy Birthday, cc 🥳🍾🎂

I’m nearly eighty but apart from a few twinges feel about 65. Still active in all areas, although we don’t walk as much as we did due to DH’s wonky knee.

How do you know what a certain age feels like🤷‍♀️

hollysteers Wed 24-Jan-24 19:21:27

About 36, an ideal age. Not too old, not too young. I think it was
Bette Davis who said ideally this is the best age to stop ageing.

Baggs Wed 24-Jan-24 18:21:13

I feel the age I am and always have felt the age I was. For me it's about life's experiences and the person I am because of them all. You can't just shed yearloads of that.

Susiewong65 Wed 24-Jan-24 17:50:07

What an interesting question.
Depends on what I’m doing at that particular moment in time,
I can be many ages in one day!

BlueBelle Wed 24-Jan-24 17:14:52

Feel much much younger than I am, but older than I d like to be

Gwyllt Wed 24-Jan-24 17:09:15

Sometimes my head feels more capable of doing things than my body
Don’t think I would want to feel like a teenager again

M0nica Wed 24-Jan-24 14:41:32

I do not feel any particular age at all, and never have.

The essence of who or what I am is there and has never changed.

Bridie22 Wed 24-Jan-24 14:13:51

Today about 150!!

Louella12 Wed 24-Jan-24 14:11:50

Physically I feel about 103.

Mentally, I don't think I've reached my 20's yet

keepcalmandcavachon Wed 24-Jan-24 14:00:32

Aveline my daughter was born an old lady, folding all her clothes and insisting on her little umbrella "just in case". As a teenager her friends could rely on her to have tissues, plasters. spare tights and biscuits when they went clubbing!
Beechnut, just off to bust some movesgrin

Aveline Wed 24-Jan-24 13:40:34

I feel ancient but I've always felt like an old lady.

Beechnut Wed 24-Jan-24 13:40:26

Definitely, do it while you can keepcalm 🤣

keepcalmandcavachon Wed 24-Jan-24 13:35:39

Chatting away this morning with same age-ish group, someone asked "how old do you feel"? Not one of us felt over 30, I said 13.
I have just done an online quiz (for fun) on the site How Stuff Works and my brain age is 19. Should I get up later, game all day and party 'till the early hours......
