Good morning from a bright W Kent. A very happy evening yesterday with DS, DIL and GS 3. The lasagne went down well and we had a good chat. My big ball of knitting wool arrived to knit a simple cowl. When I think what I used to knit…, but I am looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and damp. There was torrential rain not long ago. Purple pixie I wish you a speedy recovery. Marydoll a dishwasher tablet in the slow cooker with a little water and switch it on might work. GrandMattie definitely put some boundaries in. Because you are such a helpful person, you are being taken advantage of.
Yesterday the meeting with my brother was remarkably amicable. I was pleased, but a bit sceptical because he's not usually that accommodating. I'll take it while it lasts though. As suspected, he's still using mum's bank account to pay bills and she's been in hospital for nine months and won't be able to return home. I made it clear he had to transfer responsibility to his account. He's living there. Later I had a worrying phonecall from my aunt to say my uncle is in hospital in Spain with a slight stroke. She was understandably upset. It came out of the blue.
Today I'm meeting a friend for coffee. I feel better and the virus has disappeared. I expect dd and the boys might nip in this morning for a while. Other than that, a quiet day ahead. Have a good day all

We shared haggis, neeps and mash with my brother and his wife last night, no gravy, onion or otherwise, it was very nice though. Then we played a board game new to us, a good evening.

Good morning all.

Feeling very tired this morning. I’ll be so glad when winter is finished with.

DGS2 was terrible on Tuesday. We didn’t realise he was unwell till we were in Sainsbury’s when he cried all the way round. He didn’t eat a single morsel of food all day only drinking milk. He had a raised temperature and was able to say his throat hurt. By 4pm he seemed better. Unusually we had him yesterday too as DD had to go to her workplace in Bath. I took him to his drama tots class but I didn’t know I had to keep getting up and down from a mat on the floor resulting in several very inelegant upward moves from me.

A quiet day today is on the cards. Must tackle some housework. Have a good day all. I think the 🌞 will be out for most of the day. Hooray!

Good morning all from a windy and damp Suffolk. I think we are going to the common in a local town which has a lovely very dog friendly cafe with treats for them as well as delicious cake for us.

DS is popping in this afternoon and it will be good to see him by himself. Although we see him regularly it is unusual to see him by himself.

The reason why he is in our area is that he is attending the funeral of one of his school friends,the first of his generation to die and which he is finding it difficult to process. It will no doubt be a bitter sweet occasion as he will meet up with several old school friends not seen for more than 25 years when they left.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Blue skies and sunshine.
I’m off to stay with my daughter for the weekend . It will be good to get away. I have not seen her since new year or the rest of the family since Christmas. DGS birthday on Monday so we are off for dinner tomorrow evening. I’ll also get to see him play football on Sunday.
Thoughts to all those with another difficult day or sadness.

*MD*, I looked up”haggis’s and was confronted by a million pages of “haggis and onion gravy”. Although I have eaten haggis (delicious - my Philip loved it), Burns night is a first for me!
I shall peel and cut the onions then put them in the food processor.

I'd use frozen pre-diced onions in your situation. #lazygran

Clear blue skies and sunshine again here! Took a couple of (older) friends to M&S yesterday for coffee and a snoop but foolishly omitted to pick up some bits I needed in the Food Hall - I think I wasn’t concentrating as one of them kept wandering off and getting lost!
So once I have stripped my bed and put the sheets on to wash, I need to hit Waitrose as D, SIL and the two littlest fellas are coming up at the weekend.
Thinking of you Bluesapphire and anybody else with a sad day ahead.

Lovely morning and a dry day forecast so a good start to things. Oldies’ coffee morning and laundry dominate the day and then getting to grips with a new laptop. I find adjusting to new things much harder than I used to but I am sure it is good to keep trying.

Good morning from Glasgow. It’s damp outside after last nights rain but so far, it’s calmer with bright skies and milder.

We had a busy house yesterday afternoon with two separate visitors, cousins, family is always welcome even if DH is asleep, I am happy to see them and later a former colleague of DH who stayed longer than we expected but it was lovely for both to share this visit. Some food shopping to do at M&S at some point today, 4.00 pm probably, when the store is quieter.

The rain has returned!

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it looks as though we're due for a showery day.
Yesterday was an indoors day after I'd delivered a freegled item to someone who wanted it. I find the problem with Freegle and the like is that those who would like to pass on furniture and the like can't because it won't fit in their cars and those who really need it, don't have transport. Frustrating on both sides.

The recent storms seem to have encouraged the snowdrops I planted in the front lawn last spring, all of a sudden they have popped up and are nodding in the breeze. I love the first, heart-warming sight of them and have ordered more. The only thing I don't enjoy is being down on my knees getting them into the lawn. I have crocuses too which are now starting to show their buds.

I shall try for a walk if the rain holds off, otherwise, I think a little baking is in order.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery purplepixie, don't even think about running that vacuum around!

And for those of you with a challenging day ahead, I hope all goes as well as it can.

GM I would be buying a couple of packs of Bisto Onion Gravy for the task. What a cheek!

A late good morning from me. Today brings a day with friends. There will be a wander round a garden centre set in pretty grounds under a clear blue sky, (far too) much food and much chatter. Excellent.

Oh heck grandmattie. I can’t deal with one onion without very sore eyes. Can’t but think it’s a huge ask of you, even utilising a food processor.

My photo is of the haggis, neeps and tatties DGD3 made yesterday - no gravy 😉. Now that her mum is living permanently down south with New Man, she's taking it upon her 18yo self to build her own traditions. I do so admire that girl!
Beware of googling, grandmattie. I once, years ago, did that about Baked Alaska because I couldn't remember how long it went into the hot oven for to brown the meringue. It came up with many many pages about global warming ..........
Glad your op went well purplepixie. Take it easy. One of my tai chi gentlemen went off to Edinburgh on the train on Tuesday for the replacement of a heart valve. The operation, under local anaesthetic, was yesterday and he expects to get home, by train, today! I can't get my head round the speed of that. Knowing him, he'll be back at tai chi next Thursday (though I hope not)!
That's an excellent description of an MRI scan helter-skelter. I shall definitely remember that should I ever need to have one - I had no idea they were so noisy!
Now off I go to replenish the bird table again - the sparrows, robin and great tits were gorging in their hundreds earlier (well, maybe I exaggerate slightly - but only slightly mind 😉).

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, currently 5°C and forecast is good.

It drizzled on and off yesterday but I needed to get out for some fresh air. I wrapped up and had a lovely walk. MrB and I were awoken around 4am by a really fierce squall. It lasted around 30 minutes, hopefully it was Jocelyn departing. Another walk on the agenda for today.

I have had MRI scans yearly over the last 20 years or so Ash. They are noisy, shutting your eyes is a good idea. I have become so good at pretending I’m elsewhere that I have actually fallen asleep in one, the radiographer thought it was hilarious.

I hope you’re taking it easy after the surgery PurplePixie, it’s a major operation and you will need time to heal.
