Good morning Mickand all from sunny Lancashire, currently 6°C.

Yesterday was another quiet day at home, it rained quite heavily all day. I ate a couple of light meals and all OK. I obviously slept well as I am only just up, showered and dressed. MrB, meanwhile, has been to Lidl and done the big shop, put the shopping away and then awakened me with a lovely big mug of tea. I know I was awake at 7am and took the first of my meds, but I never even heard MrB go out…

Needless to say, I haven’t read the thread yet. Have the best day you can x

Good morning from a damp and grey East Midlands. Another day of recovery from my hysterectomy on 22nd January. Hopefully onward and upward. Just a bit fed up with being in the house with a not very chatty hubby.

Good morning Mick and all from 6°C Sunnyside northwest coast.
Sister from the south left yesterday after a few days here which was nice. We chatted, shopped, enjoyed an Italian meal one night in town and went into the city on Saturday night, meeting up with old singing friends for carousing 💃🏻. Carousing so much we missed the last train and had to take a taxi, over £40 🙄. I would have caught it, going ahead down the escalator, but one friend couldn’t find her ticket and as she was with my sister, I felt I couldn’t just leave them…

Back to routine today, music club and an online grocery shop arriving later. I don’t usually food shop online, but I’m tired after the last few days.

Hope your diet helps Mick and thoughts to all poorlies and those with worries 🌺

Litterpicker Tue 30-Jan-24 10:12:41

Good morning Mick and all. It’s grey but dry and mild here in coastal West Sussex.

DH shared his horrible cold with me so I haven’t done much the past couple of days. To cheer me up, the sweet peas I sowed in pots have germinated. I need to clear a windowsill so they can have a bit more light.

Grandmattie, I have loads of jars. I would give them to you and buy some marmalade if you were nearer 🙂. I have made marmalade with 2 kg of Seville oranges. Last year I made enough to last us all year but I have been very slow and disorganised this year. If there are still oranges in the farm shop I will make some more. I don’t like any other marmalade nearly as much as the Seville. That bitter tang is wonderful.

I need to do a bit of cleaning and then I will read some of the very interesting book on Jerusalem, that I got from the library. A walk by the sea later.

Harrigran, we had that problem with the tv and internet last week. We had to turn the router off and on again twice before it connected.

Marydoll 💐

Good morning from a grey, damp NE.
Yesterday was a horrible dark rainy day, lights were on all day.
Decided I would look on iplayer for something to watch but it put a message on screen saying I had no internet connection.
Everything else was working so only the TV has lost it's connection.
General tidying up and clean the kitchen and bathrooms and then relax with my book.
Have a good day.

A grey dull day in Eden, is meant to get better later. I hope so DH is taking to the fells as he has felt trapped for a couple of weeks.
I have promised myself no housework but a day for my pursuits as well, probably looking at some old problems on my family research which I am beginning to think will never be resolved.
A pleasant day to all.

Kalu Tue 30-Jan-24 09:25:29

Morning all .Just having quick browse through before I make myself move and get some household jobs done. Its a rather busy week of social outings and carers meetings so must try and use my time productively today.
MD we were surprised to find around here the new NHS shingles Vax is now given in 2 doses with 12 wks apart. We had our first pre Xmas and 2nd mid Jan.and although never had any side effect with other Vax given over past years we did have terrible sore arms for a week and flu like symptoms but we are still here to tell the tale ,so hey ho.Cost to NHS is £450 per patient.

GrannySomerset Tue 30-Jan-24 09:23:13

Glorious morning, cold but sunny, perfect winter weather, so I might even give the bedding a blow when it comes out of the machine. Supermarket shop and then another try to master my new laptop which won’t allow me to read attachments to emails. I don’t understand why and may have to get the local guru in to advise - he set it up so it can’t be anything I have or haven’t done. Frustrating doesn’t begin to cover it!

Georgesgran Tue 30-Jan-24 09:11:46

Good morning from Durham. I can’t believe it’s not raining and the forecast is for a bit of sun!
Coffee this morning at a local garden centre with a friend, her birthday soon, so I’ll take her card and gift with me.
Sorting out the monks bench is slow going - it’s like Mary Poppins bag - bottomless!
Best wishes to all.X

BlueSapphire Tue 30-Jan-24 08:56:49

Pressed post too soon while I was editing the preview! - should be cut and colour!

BlueSapphire Tue 30-Jan-24 08:54:31

Good morning everyone from a rather grey and dull Northampton, may see a bit of sun this afternoon.

Hairdresser this morning, but and olour, so I may not be back to join my walking group friends this afternoon. Shall take my book to read while my colour takes.

BT engineer/techie came yesterday and gave my broadband a clean bill of health.

No other plans for today, an afternoon of reading again. Oops, nearly forgot, some bills to pay on-line, and forward my meter readings to the relevant companies.
Easy dinner tonight of the weekend's slow cooker beef casserole,.with a jacket potato and veg.

Looking forward to cruise news Pantglas2. Mine isn't until April.

May Tuesday be kind to us all.

RosiesMaw Tue 30-Jan-24 08:47:54

Good morning from N Bucks where it is fair and looks as if the clouds will clear.
I am meeting a friend at Beckworth Emporium west of Wellingborough this morning . Local grans like Ginny and BlueSapphire will know it.
It has a wonderful farm shop/food hall and the cakes are pretty good too!
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

EkwaNimitee Tue 30-Jan-24 08:47:29

Good morning Mick and everyone from a brighter and drier Carlisle.
Yesterday was horrible and I had to go out early to take the car in as it had had a recall. Driving conditions that I hate...dark, raining heavily, everyone out and about going to work and school, pedestrians and cyclists in dark clothing and no lights!
Still, I arrived without incident and spent a couple of hours reading my book and drinking free coffee.
Home to laundry and not much else, I was frazzled after a poor night's sleep. I read more of my book, a crime story with a difference, it's set in Mumbai. Interesting.
Today, more laundry and I shall haul the vacuum cleaner out. The afternoon is free for whatever takes my fancy.

Marydoll so sorry things are dragging on like this for you.

Urmstongran Tue 30-Jan-24 08:41:58

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s 4°C and damp. We are meeting my cousin for coffee in the square later.

Here’s Matt.

Grannygravy. nails and pottering all in the one day 🤣it’s the start of a glorious sunrise here on the east coast of Fife and it feels a little warmer although the weatherman says there’s to be snow, hopefully that’s not going to happen here but it’ll probably be up north of Scotland where I used to enjoy my skiing pre stroke many years ago
This photo isn’t Scotland but probably Canada

Keep safe my friends

Greyduster Tue 30-Jan-24 08:35:32

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s damp and grey but very mild in South Yorkshire this morning. I woke late (for me) this morning - eight o’clock! Yesterday the morning didn’t work out as I had planned. The less said the better. In the afternoon the rain stopped and I walked over to the country park, along the Transpennine Trail. The furthest I’ve walked on my own, so I felt rather pleased with myself. Volunteering this afternoon.
Have the best day you can folks.

Jaxjacky Tue 30-Jan-24 08:34:09

Morning from a damp S Hampshire, not raining, just ‘in the air’.
Joint third in quiz last night and it was a fun time. After a busy day on the voluntary phone I have to update the spreadsheet and record my doings.
A walk today is needed, we might go to the seaside for a change.
What a delightful post karmalady showing your love and skill.
Hopefully your boys will be gentle on you today Grandmabatty.

Good morning from Shropshire.Rain overnight but dry now.

A pottering morning then school pick up and Welsh class. We are looking after the children until SIL gets home from work as DD is going to the theatre in Liverpool tonight.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Liberty Tue 30-Jan-24 08:21:07

Good morning from a dry and dull Suffolk.

I’m meeting a friend for coffee later who I met at a tai chi class several years ago. The tai chi teacher retired at age 89,the class stopped but we kept in touch. She is moving to Essex hopefully, for her, next month, having sold her house and living temporarily in a flat.I look forward to hearing about all her future plans.

More reading of papers this afternoon for my all day Teams meeting tomorrow and DH will cook this evening.

Thinking of those with worries and upsets and hope that today brings some comfort.

Marydoll Tue 30-Jan-24 08:07:47

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it's -2°C.

Yesterday was another day spent in bed. Today I have my shingles vax, two years earlier than it should be. Fortunately it is in the afternoon, so hopefully the nausea will have subsided by then.
We were supposed to meet DS2, DIL and Babydoll for lunch prior to it, but much to my disappointment, I don't feel up to it.

Enjoy all your activities, it's great to hear of all your busyness and read how talented you are.
As always, my thoughts and prayers for all, who are struggling.

Grandmabatty Tue 30-Jan-24 08:06:12

Thank you all. I'm not too bad and too busy to feel unwell! Dgs1 is clearly feeling better. He's managed to wind up his brother at least three times so far. 😂

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 30-Jan-24 07:49:56

Good morning from a damp Lyme Regis, it’s supposed to be sunny today after yesterdays early and late mist/fog.
We shall see, whatever the weather we are all going on a fossil hunt today, we bought fossil picks for everyone to use.
MzOops will have her daily swim ( not sure whose side of the family she takes after, probably the crazy side) we have a beach hut close to the cafes so hot drinks will be on hand.
Then someone needs to go to the supermarket and restock fresh stuff as we are running low.
GS arrived yesterday and he eats and eats and eats…….

Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who are under the weather.

Taichinan Tue 30-Jan-24 07:47:59

Good morning all. 2° here on the Angus coast - clear skies as far as I can make out, and it's going to be sunny.
Oh dear Grandmabatty, little ones should come with a danger warning. Those viruses they carry always seem to be so potent. The worst cold I ever had was courtesy of a toddling DGD. I hope you're both better soon.
What an efficient lady you are karma.
Tai chi class for me this morning, but no need to shop - except for my lunch from the fish shop. Then home for a bit of housework before some friends drop in late afternoon.
Have a good day everyone x

Good morning all and it’s just getting light here in Essex.

Dh will be having breakfast with his two old school pals and I will be dropped off at one of the wives to spend a couple of hours with her.

Back home for a quick turn around and Dh will take me to Bridge on his way for a dental appointment. I’ll get a lift back home from a friend. This is the trouble with only having one car but it’s really not worth the expense of having two.

Take care and enjoy the day. 🌷
